that's really beside the point
Yoshi-P is a manager, he is not a creative, he showed that he works best as a crisis-management producer rather than a director when he set out to make Vagrant Story 2 and ended up with whatever the fuck FFXVI is.
Oda was in charge of the story and worldbuilding, he hasn't been there since Shitterbringers, and whoever was keeping some semblance of flavour and fun in XIV up to Stormblood clearly has left, and whatever was left of his work got shoveled out little by little until now there's no trace of it left.
Anything that is fun or satisfying has to get steamrolled, homogenized and sacrificed at the altar of """QoL""" , you simply cannot have a game that stays reasonably challenging and fun to play if you're designing it around geriatrics who can play 30 minutes a week and want to be able to experience all of the content anyway- a philosophy that somehow got transplanted directly into the next single player mainline Final Fantasy.
Rambling a bit, the point is there's no one at Creative Unit whateverthefuck who has the vision and know-how to put together a fun game. Best they got is spread, stack, look away, maybe cardinals if they're feeling daring.
It's very much like the Kojima situation, there were some unnamed heroes on that team who kept Kojima's westaboo retardation in check and delivered games that are actually fun to play and engaging. Remove Kojima from that team, and you get 40h of fellating Hollywood actors with no substance and the level of geopolitical analysis of a 10 year old who just heard John Lennon's Imagine for the first time, wrapped in a tryhard Lynchian package.
