I started in 1.0, got the tattoo to prove it. It was incredible, I don't think any game could have lasted 10 years. It truly just isn't the same game anymore. But recently I've started to miss it But it's just not the same. All the people who created the game I loved aren't there anymore, the playerbase isn't there, they've all been removed and replaced. People think they can "fix it" but the only way would be to bring all those people back.

As an artist who posts, you occasionally get people clearly botting likes on specific hashtags, a lot of these are commission artists advertising through engagement. You also get people who randomly DM you either demanding you commission them or randos who want you to partner up and draw their comic.

Square Enix filed a C&D against the creators of Mare, that one mod framework that was used by a lot of RPers and other related second life type players, alongside pornographers and most people populating the FFXIV social media hashtags with their modded screenshots. Allegedly the C&D was filed over the program letting people circumvent cash shop purchases and taking revenue away from such. Anyone remember how TERA's decline was rapidly accelerated by going after modders? And that game had much more frequent content updates. Most modders that use this type of software are long-term subscribers who won't leave during droughts or bad content due to making their own, so to speak. Usually you let things like this keep existing for those reasons. Hope this actually kills this piece of shit game. Even if it's ironic that this is what deals the deathblow and not the awful lore rape of Endwalker, horrible gameplay gutting and simplification over time, nor the terrible everything of Dawntrail.

Thus Venat caused a pointless schism when some of her people offer their lives to summon Zodiark to curtail the Final Days. This is crucial because the side stories make it abundantly clear that the timeline that the Crystal Exarch took the Crystal Tower still persists. Endwalker only works if it's a time loop story that character assassinates Venat/Hydaelyn. But no, it's apparently a proper time loop. Because "the future that [we] must return to exists as a result of the Final Days." The first fucking thing Emet-Selch should have said when we summoned him at Ultima Thule was "We could have avoided all this."
