They want to be able to put "Directed by Yoshi-P" on total garbage and have it sell anyway, and that's just not working out. Genuinely, XIV's rebirth was impressive. Not as impressive as people make it out to be, it's a Final Fantasy MMO, people want it to succeed and the market was already pretty dry back then- but was still impressive from a production pov.

One of my biggest gripes with Dawntrail is how Alisae and Alphinaud's sibling dynamics which were extremely similar to Wuk and Koana was just completely fucking ignored in favor of more Wuk dialogue because nobody else mattered (it was all about Wuk of course.) Lyse wasnt even close to having the forced presence that Wuk did. It's like Wuk was a bogstandard fanfiction self-insert. Always have to be involved in every conversation and if a conversation isn't involving her it is always about her. Every time I'm reminded of this shitty expansion I think of "what ifs" and come up with a thousand different ways the plot alone could have been better, or even just more tolerable and half of it is effectively nuking Wuk's linecount.
