So by default, the discovery feed refreshes between hyper leftwing bullshit, you can get ten straight posts of different users captioning the same clip of sone guy in Congress or the Senate. Refresh, you get flooded with untagged, unhidden fetish artwork - feederism, furry, vore. Refresh again, cute animal pictures, which, hey, I'm down. Refresh again, people still upset that kid failed to kill Trump last year. Discover, you know, the thing that should invite people to join your social media, is godawful. You have to curate it by blocking specific keywords and phrases, but those apply to posts and not account bios. What's more, the echo chamber likes to tell people, what you see is based on your follow and like habits, but I block and report all the obvious fetish content as 18+ whenever I'm bored and trawling through it.
I use bluesky follow and talk to artists, there are some legitimately good artists and great people underneath the shit - and a lot of the really, really good artists make it a point to never mention or repost anything political.
As an artist who posts, you occasionally get people clearly botting likes on specific hashtags, a lot of these are commission artists advertising through engagement. You also get people who randomly DM you either demanding you commission them or randos who want you to partner up and draw their comic.
