Square Enix filed a C&D against the creators of Mare, that one mod framework that was used by a lot of RPers and other related second life type players, alongside pornographers and most people populating the FFXIV social media hashtags with their modded screenshots. Allegedly the C&D was filed over the program letting people circumvent cash shop purchases and taking revenue away from such. Anyone remember how TERA's decline was rapidly accelerated by going after modders? And that game had much more frequent content updates. Most modders that use this type of software are long-term subscribers who won't leave during droughts or bad content due to making their own, so to speak. Usually you let things like this keep existing for those reasons. Hope this actually kills this piece of shit game. Even if it's ironic that this is what deals the deathblow and not the awful lore rape of Endwalker, horrible gameplay gutting and simplification over time, nor the terrible everything of Dawntrail.
