ITAGAKI "HARADA-HARASSER" TOMONOBU DEAD AT 58 Picrel is the message he had a family member post from his FB account, after his death, it appears. MTL as follows: >The light of my life is about to run out. >The fact that this sentence has been posted means it's finally time. >I'm no longer in this world (this last post was sent by someone special to me). >My life has a series of battles, and we have stayed winning. >I've caused a lot of trouble. >I stand by my beliefs and I owe it. >No regrets. >I just feel so sorry to all my fans for not being able to deliver my new work. >Sorry. >It is what it is. So it goes."
>>1855457 Who is begging? they released a "master collection" with the versions he had barely anything to do with and actively dismissed when asked about them and then shadow dropped a remake which was based on the inferior version of 2. I can play Black via Xemu whenever I wish, does not take away from the fact Team Ninja have done everything in their power to bury Itagaki and what he did over a grudge they still clearly hold.
>>1855418 >Yakumo gets the Dark Dragon Sword at the end of the game which has Ryu's moveset too, making him feel really redundan Not even Dante was treated like this when he was being "retired" by Nero. At least Dante and Vergil have kept their own moves and unique gameplay. Giving the emo twink Ryu's move set and a reskinned Dragon Sword is Team Ninja looking into the camera and giving a middle finger to Itagaki and long time fans.
>>1855748 Gaiden as in side story eh? Probably thought people would be sensitive with any big departures in style and story after 3 so they crafted a new character that would fit their ideas more. >>1855755 The Tecmo higher ups at least, I imagine they're not fond of him at all, but I wonder how the rank and file members like Hayashi and Yasuda feel about him since they didn't leave to join his Valhalla studio. I hear Ninja Gaiden 2 specifically had audio issues among other things in Xenia as it performs even worse than Black in emulation. Regardless, with so many people mourning him, to say nothing with a brand new game in a big series he used to work on would have soured people from buying something they bothered to shell out money for. Then again, Microsoft is publishing it-I don't know how big their involvement is otherwise.

This is depressing. >>1855777 (Great full house!) >I wonder how the rank and file members like Hayashi and Yasuda feel about him since they didn't leave to join his Valhalla studio Fumiko Yasuda has never said anything about Itagaki. At best he'll glaze DoA & Ninja Gaiden as the studios foundation, but then there'll be times where he spits on Itagaki's philosophy behind the games, such as wanting to make the Ninja Gaiden games 'easier to play' & making Ryu Hayabusa a 'relatable protagonist'. He's also worn the WEF pin at one point. That should tell you enough about him & the direction he's taken TN. Yosuke Hayashi, Itagaki's successor after the 2008 firing, has acknowledged Itagaki. Interview: Team Ninja Boss Yosuke Hayashi (2009) https://archive.li/M2lF7 https://archive.li/1Kkam https://archive.li/jMiqv Hayashi, the new leader of Team Ninja, has boldly stepped into the office formerly occupied by Tomonobu Itagaki, someone whose pantomime Kikizo has long been a fan of (and we must admit, a party to, when you consider he's sat down for interviews with us no less than six times). I've seen people literally trembling as they enter an interview room with Itagaki, and then watched them leave looking like they want to cry. But while we always smile at Itagaki's character where many fear it, the bottom line is it's his games - and particularly the Ninja Gaiden series - that we're actually fans of. And the games gave him his pass to say whatever he likes. So, are these awesome games Itagaki's, or Team Ninja's? The answer from Hayashi-san may come as no surprise, but other details in our first interview with the new 'man' of Team Ninja may well do. The interview focuses on broader stuff before looking at Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, the PS3-exclusive remake of last year's brilliant Xbox 360 game Ninja Gaiden II, as well as other stuff. >Kikizo: With Itagaki-san no longer at Team Ninja, we wonder if it must be a lot, um, 'quieter' at the studio? <Hayashi: Well Itagaki liked to talk a lot! Me, I hope I don't have to talk so much. I believe my games will speak for themselves. >Kikizo: But in the eyes of many gamers, Team Ninja's franchises are seen as Itagaki's own rather than Team Ninja's. He pushed them as his creations, so how does today's Team Ninja feel about that? <Hayashi: Well games are team efforts. A person can have his vision and be a creative force, but in the end, it's a team effort. I think that the DNA, or the essence of the foundation of Team Ninja has not changed at all, and the internal staff hasn't really changed either. It's not like we're a different team, it's just that that the face and the leadership has changed. <As an example, most of my staff working on finishing up Sigma 2 has also worked on Ninja Gaiden 2, so it's not like we're giving it to a completely different part of the team. We also have a strong desire to work on something completely brand new, but which still holds true to the Team Ninja DNA. >Kikizo: What about other Team Ninja projects which Itagaki had for a long time mentioned, but as yet never materialized, like Code Cronus and Project Progressive? <Hayashi: I think the mission that we've been given as game creators and content providers is that we don't do it just because it's a business, we do it because it will provide entertainment to our fans. It's not just something that applies to Ninja Gaiden, or any of our other franchises, and it is my duty to continue things in this direction - it's the role I've been given, and it's what fits my talent best. >... >Kikizo: Itagaki-san had previously said that Ninja Gaiden II would be the final game in the series. Do you think you will go back on that and make a Ninja Gaiden 3 and beyond? <Hayashi: Regardless of what Itagaki-san said before, in time, what the consumers, the gamers are looking for is going to be the next chapter - the future of an outstanding series. We feel that we're in a position of being able to make that call, and to provide pure entertainment that's going to be enjoyed by action gamers and our fans. That calling is already there - we feel it, and therefore we will continue to work towards a future for the series.
>>1853364 Considering in his last photos he was looking like shit I doubt it. And aren't the yakuza much less murder happy these days?
58 years old, he was just a kid!
>>1856248 The Yakuza are basically irrelevant now, yes.
(3.22 MB 404x397 spy.gif)

>>1863544 Largely because the average yakuza is old as fuck. The median age is like 54, less than 5% of the syndicates are younger than 30. The socio-economic reasons they even came about don't really exist in modern Japan. Shinōkōshō legally hasn't existed for 150~ years and socially stopped mattering decades ago, so entering wider society as a burakumin or other peasant wasn't an issue, Japan transformed into an industrial nation with a high standard of living, so why be a low-level drug runner when being a road worker or cashier unironically earns better money?
>>1863544 >>1863740 Delusional. The Yakuza controls the whole entertainment industry in Japan since the beginning. They also control most companies, and have many seats in the government. There is no Japan without the Yakuza.
>>1863740 >>1863896 Yakuza are likely still around, but our perception and understanding of them may have shifted over the past 20 years, especially in such a secretive society and organization. Things like the "yakuza exclusion ordinance" have probably played a part.
>>1863740 Isn't that almost exactly what happened with most of the Irish rebels after they attained positions of power, they basically just took up official roles in government/clerical positions and started working regular jobs since they basically got what they wanted?
Fuck it, what's a good place to get DoA2 and the psp game?
>>1863740 >>1863945 >>1864159 Organized crime is dying across the globe in general. It's only in war-torn and authoritarian nations like Russia, Gaza, and West Taiwan where organized crime still thrives. IIRC, there's even been dozens of articles detailing how former and current mob members see the trade dying out because it's just too much risk for not enough money anymore. Not to mention that, like everyone else, their kids want nothing to do with passing the torch.
>>1864604 Organized crime didn't die. It just changed places and names. It is now governments and corporations.
>>1864251 Emulate it :^)

>>1851321 to quote this doa5 clip, "yeah"
>>1865656 Well, of course. I just wanna know what are some good sites to download the isos.

>>1850821 Is ninja gaiden good I've only ever played doa? It seems like something you'd have to have nostalgia for to enjoy
>>1871193 Play Ninja Gaiden Black and 2. Only play the rest if you want more. And yes, but they're ball bustingly hard, 2 especially so since it's rushed development and Tecmo drama with Itagaki really handicaped it's enemy variety, bosses hitboxes and camera control.
>>1871193 >It seems like something you'd have to have nostalgia for to enjoy How the hell are you "here" of all places, and saying shit like that? Great games don't spoil and go bad over time. They're exactly the same now as when they came out. The only thing preventing anyone for enjoying an old game is just taking the time to learn how to play the damn thing. I've starting to feel utterly defeated by the passage of time, and what has become of the modern video game player, I see people eager to sweep games like DMC1, Sonic Adventure 2, NG 1 and 2 under the rug as "bad and old", because they don't conform to what games are now. People with no patience, or adaptability. I just had to grow up with an N64 that conditioned me to be able to play fucking anything. I've always had this disconnect from being able to enjoying far more flawed games that got justifiable criticism, but now people complain about the outright good games too now. It doesn't happen as often as it feels, but it's sad it happens at all.
>>1871204 Ill emulate it kinda wanted to get into Ninja gaiden but I felt I missed the had to grow up playing it window so just didn't bother old games retrograding is bad
>>1864251 What's your timezone?
>>1871204 Actually I might just start from 1 I have an autism about doing things in order >>1871383 Calm down dude I grew up in that era of gaming too I don't get hung up on graphics and stuff I'm 30 but some things are just you had to be there to appreciate and starting something with the mindset of a 30 something is not the same as a 14 something who is just happy to have the experience, fully immersed in everything story plot art direction etc.
>>1871193 >>1871457 I do want to say they're good, actually had a friend who tail beginning gen z who has played them and enjoy them if that helps, but I do have nostalgia playing in. I get where you're coming from though. But at the same time I've played some old games I never did that were part of my/our time and still enjoyed them. It usually makes me feel oddly reminiscent because I still remember how games were back then, and also said I didn't get to play them back then. I think as long as you grew up within the era and play games during the era you'll enjoy them like some of the ones you played while getting the same feeling. Sure I can play very old games like Final Fantasy(NES), get through it, and enjoy it, but playing FF8, 9, or 10 hits a different spot even when I didn't have the chance to play them back then. Well I did play 10 a bit on a rental but that's besides the point. You can see what games have done then and now, and it takes you back sometimes.
>>1871457 Also I'm not sure if you mean 1 as in the NES games or the Xbox game. If the NES games then good luck! If the Xbox game, Black is just an updated version that doesn't change the gameplay overall so no need to play the original version.
(69.44 KB 640x454 120612_onore01.jpg)

>>1871193 >>1871204 >>1871385 I never really got into the new Ninja Gaiden because I grew up with the original and the NES games were Ninja Gaiden to me. Also because it debuted on the Xbox which I didn't have so between those two things I basically marked it off my list. I've still never tried them and I'm not sure if I'd really like them. I am really intrigued about Yaiba though.
>>1871493 Yeah I'll try the og first and if I like the gameplay and plot I'll try the remake(?) >>1871641 Opposite situation it looks cool but I never got to experience it growing up and fomo might hit which always sucks playing something way late
>>1871641 I love the original 3 NES games, the 1992 Master System version is also very good and I need to give that a try.
>>1871457 >The mindset of a 30 something is not the same as a 14 something who is just happy to have the experience, fully immersed in everything story plot art direction etc. I'm also 30 and YES IT IS GODDAMN IT!, or at least it should be. With in the last year for the first time I've beat almost every Gauntlet game, Dark Chambers for the Atari 7800, X2 Wolverines Revenge, Star Wars The Clone Wars, P.N.03, Metal Arms: Glitch in the System, Star Fox 1 & 2, BodyHarvest, both Castlevania N64 games and TimeSpliters 1. Were they all perfect, no. But there was something cool in all of them. Because video games are COOL! It is a god given miracle any single video game even exists on this planet, and I don't like the idea of taking any for granted, knowing how much work it takes to make a single one.

>>1873119 You somehow become more creative in your 30s, it's hard to explain man.
>>1874233 30 is when the male brain fully opens up. That's why Plato forbid men younger than 30 from studying philosophy.
>>1872957 Idk bro I just can't articulate it as well as I mean to something about the way a teenager inherently experiences games and art compared to us boomers is just not comparable
>>1874233 >pic Keita Amemiya should open a school for his designs, so his style won't die with him. His designs are perfect.
(55.40 KB 738x820 Anonymoose.jpg)

>>1874641 >Teenager I experience it just the same, when you're a kid with no standards though, then yeah, it's a completely different experience. The sole exception might be STALKER SoC, but that was such a unique game at a time where everything was getting linear, consolized and streamlined that it really doesn't matter when you played it, it will make you feel. A good experience will be great no matter your age.
