The Half-Life 3 a̶s̶y̶l̶u̶m̶ Waiting Room Anonymous 11/15/2025 (Sat) 20:44:37 Id: 787b01 No. 1936336
The Valve leakers who predicted the recent triple threat announcement of hardware also believe Half-Lfie 3 will be announced soon. VERY soon, likely within 20 days. Here is a massive board of collected evidence about Half-Life 3's development. https://miro.com/app/board/uXjVINqBTwM=/ (ACTIVELY BEING UPDATED) On that note, there's a lot of fake stuff being posted. As far as is known, no concept art of HL3 has leaked. If you have seen concept art, it is fake. Stuff that is known There is a huge amount we know, so I won't cover everything, these are highlights. >In development before Alyx released, around mid 2019 >Xen enemies and possibly Xen itself return, including the Houndeye and new enemies like the "Xen Jellyfish" (pictured) and "Xen Gorilla" >Overhauled vehicle system, now oddly in-depth and detailed >The "offworld" mentioned by Combine Overwatch in Half-Life 2 makes an appearance, references to "offworld storks" among other things found in Source 2 code >NPC body damage similar to L4D <This includes ragdolls >Seems to include Mario Galaxy/Outer Wilds style gravy shifting >Heavy emphasis on physics simulation beyond just gravity
>>1949095 >I mean, yes? Incorrect. Outside of niche communities dedicated specifically to Metroid, no one talks about dread much. Back in the day, a big game would get talked about by everyone in the gayming community for years after release.
>>1949321 If you consider Metroid and TF2 to be niche, then your bar is set at turbo popular blockbusters and apologies, but I don't care about what casual normalfags think or do. Under that logic, nothing but GTA, Minecraft, dudebro FPS, sportsball, and Fortnite matter.
May I introduce to you Strider's debut single.

>>1949460 Honestly, what did we expect?
>>1949471 A shitty game at the very least
>>1949460 >>1949471 >>1949476 Nobody said it was today and multiple said it was not. Alyx's release was rumoured about a week before hand, right now nobody knows its release.
>>1949479 After so many years, anon, are you really surprised people are demoralized?

>>1940640 Freeman getting cucked. Very possible because of this >>1944793 Also this game will be a dissapointment for being 20 years too late. People have impossible expectations for this game after these many years without any news.
>>1949671 Standards are so low that all it needs is to look good be well optimized, have some open ended sections on a car decent weapons and some physics puzzles. That's it. Valve doesn't even need to compete at this point.

Do you think they have the balls to make it Linux exclusive?
>>1938692 >FULLY MODELED Bullsquid
(1.22 MB 352x640 hl3.mp4)

>>1951552 It'll be a Steam Machine exclusive. Only runs on THAT precise combination of hardware running SteamOS.
>>1952232 Now that I don't believe
A balanced guess, but I think the best latest time to announce the game would be early December, like 01-05th Dec. Valve don't like announcements near holidays, and it probably couldn't be close to or at TGA, despite Geoff being friends with Valve, he'll probably get a trailer shown off at his show, while the game would be announced a week or so earlier. >>1951552 Best they could do is have it optimized to hell so it runs a lot better under Linux than Windows. This is highly likely as well, considering it's likely to be a "launch title" for the Machine.
>>1951552 >>1952232 Something like that would likily generate a large level of animosity towards linux/steamOS. Something i think valve would rather not have on their public image. It would be really funny though, linux going from "has no games" meme to not just having all of steam but the most anticepated game ever as an exclusive. The schadenfreude would be legendary.

>>1948203 He's using them for marine research so it's somewhat different to the standard obsession. >>1954022 They can release it as a native linux build only and then do a wsl install on windows as a compat tool like they do with proton to get the funnies for free.
>>1954044 I did hear about the research use since making that post, I guess it would make sense since it sounds like a mobile town. Does he employ the researchers do or are they appropriating his ship?
>>1940640 >What is your main hope with HL3? I hope that the TECHNOLOGY of the game is a watershed moment that utterly shames and emasculates the entire AAA games industry. I want it to run like silk and have a <50GB installed size while setting a visual high-water mark on ultra and having incredibly granular settings and all of the performance-killing features that other devs can't seem to figure out while having robust and open mod tools. Regardless of the quality of the actual game. >What's your main fear? That we won't be able to poke around under the hood of the game.
>>1954137 Reading through the Miro, the TECHNOLOGY sounds cool. They're doing wind simulation that affects environmental fog? That is completely unnecessary, it's fantastic. It looks like they're going for the same wow factor HL2 did when it launched.
>>1954159 I won't trust any of that shit until I see it be announced.

Started playing HL2 not too long ago, and what I noticed the most was the occasional music; you're running along/riding a vehicle and suddenly "action music" starts playing. Also, the weapons menu feels antiquated, there are some sections where you have to quickly change between the gravity gun and some other weapon, and the way you have to highlight the weapon in the menu and then press fire to select it, wastes a valuable few seconds each time. Also neither of the automatic weapons feels as good as the half-life 1 MP5, I actually like half-life 1 more.

>>1954159 >>1954163 Games with 2D physics engines like LittleBigPlanet and Powertoy have done this but I've never seen it in a big 3D game. I wonder if the fire will work in the same way? >>1954185 The sparing use of music was an artistic choice. But HL1 having a better arsenal is something nobody would disagree with, not even the devs. Beta builds of HL2 had a much larger range of weapons, I can't even post them all. Easily over half the arsenal is gone, this happened for various shitty reasons but chief among them was HL2 being heavily reworked late in development. So much of the game was cut, Valve had to kill a lot of their darlings.
HL3 wont happen, HLX i think is just going to be an RTX version of HL2
>>1954185 Pressing 'G' swaps between the gravity gun and your last equipped gun, by the way.
>>1954221 I've heard this a few times recently, and that doesn't make any sense based on the string leaks. There are no Houndeyes in HL2, and RTX is an Nvidia thing.
>>1954185 Half Life 2 is great for it's atmosphere and bigger levels but it's gameplay is worse than Half Life 1. Though the enemies are less tanky than in 1 so that's a bonus. This mod alone improves the combat a lot https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3465733261 >>1954236 They're giving us HL2 Beta content!

>>1955003 I was going to post this, he's Half-Life baiting again. He does this every year. It obviously looks like the Antimass Spectrometer in Black Mesa, or maybe the core inside the Citadel, but that's a section from a random Fortnite map.

Insider Gaming giving more detail about the HL3 date. They've been told the date, but can't confirm if it's real or a trap to catch out leakers. It's not at TGA, and it's not a shadow drop. Also Mike Straw talking shit about Geoff's Half-Life baiting lel
