Finished the NATO side of Broken Arrow. And I don't want to play anymore.
>I'm pretty sure this game was made by the same team of Russians that made Syrian Warfare and Terminator Dark Fate.
>They were hyping this up as "The next generation of RTS. A modern day World in Conflict."
>On release, it's just plain broken.
>The most obvious things, Skirmish mode is locked behind an online profile. People have been banned because they used cheat engine while engaged in a skirmish.
>Troop customization does exist but it matters very little. Sight ranges and any missile will kill your unit before you can even engage in combat.
>Armor on units is tissue paper. As soon as you're sighted, you're pretty much dead.
>This compounds in the campaign where there's no save for some reason. So if you make a bad play and your units get wiped out because you forgot about that Iskander battery, better restart all over again.
>The game also runs like ass. I couldn't be bothered manually targeting bombs for JDAMS with lasers so I used dumb bomb runs instead. This resulted in the game pausing while the bombs fell, only restarting after they had hit. It's consistent too for some reason.
>Mission design is with per-designated units too. You're given the ability to design a Strike Group so I thought you'd be using them during the campaign but nope.
>Last mission has some CIA spook wanting to blow up a dam to force back the Russians for some reason. Never mind that a Nato ally deploying a nuclear device in a friendly country in a major population center, it would also be the first nuke deployed in war in 80 years. The fallout the Americans would receive might be enough to force the other NATO countries to kick it out.
It's just an unfun experience overall. World in Conflict is almost 20 years old and it's still just better at everything. The camera doesn't randomly zoom in, units can actually survive hits most of the time, actual tactical aid that can help in places where you don't need to move units. Even just micromanaging units like telling them to move while grouped is such a simple thing and they botched it here.
