Crash Team Racing Thread (Now with custom tracks and online multiplayer!) Anonymous 04/17/2025 (Thu) 12:13:53 Id: 63480e No. 1112060
8chan Edition Play CTR Online: https://www.online-ctr.com/ Custom tracks and tutorials to install them: https://ctrcustomtracks.com/ How to create custom tracks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjYqkN3AKIU Additionally, a lot of new custom tracks have been released, lately, so look out for updated versions of the game! >What's your FLAPs and 3LAPs records? >Who's your favorite racist? >What's your favorite new track?
Edited last time by Mark on 04/17/2025 (Thu) 17:28:20.
The custom tracks being made now are crazy. What % is the decomp at now?
>>1112115 Last I heard the PC port was extremely close, but the online version of the game is already at a great place. Items are allowed online and work properly.
I'm pretty glad to see a thread at last on the subject. Was nervous about proposing such a thing but it's appreciated. I'm looking forward to see what people can come up with.
>>1112060 Alright, anons, i do have duckstation and ctr, do i have to do something else besides just running the launcher?

>>1113770 Just patch the CTR ISO following the instructions on the site
Where the heck are my racists at?
>>1128535 Crash Bash, Tiny Adventure and Twinsanity also count to be honest
>>1128535 by the way, is there a repository of high res renders from the first four Crash games? I've always loved that kind of style. Still have my holographic Crash 2 novelty trading card in my pocket with him being blasted off into space.
>>1128535 4 Crash Bandicoot games and CTR, got it!

Yep, nothing much to do.
>>1128535 Nitro Fueled is peak and I'm tired of hearing otherwise. Git gud.

>>1143617 I want it on PC. I couldn't handle the load times on PS4, it was excrutiating.
>>1167470 PS4 load times are tolerable, Switch load times may as well be a form of torture.
>>1167470 They can't. The engine used by Beenox (VV's Alchemy Engine) is garbage. Same reason Nsane Trilogy can't run at high framerates on PC.
(161.64 KB 1280x720 ctrvsnf.jpg)

>>1168740 The PS4 load times are shit. That's why you can beat the original CTR while Nitro Fueled is loading. https://youtu.be/OeO5UmQGwRY?si=huik7lZPVuO7USa7
>>1170623 HYPNO NATION STAND TALL FIIIIGARO
>>1170623 Watching this apparently the load times are due to the game literally loading all the games assets in order, and then ditching the ones not used in the level you're trying to load. Madness.
>>1174103 Literally how Sonic06 loaded levels. At least that game had the excuse of being unfinished as fuck. But hey, Activision made sure the CASH SHOP was working properly. Fuck this game.

Enough time has passed.. RELEASE AN ENHANCED PORT WITH 120 FPS, NITRO KART CAMPAIGN, BIKES AND MORE GPs, ON PC, SWITCH 2,PS5 AND XBOX SX, BRING BACK THE JIGGLE, SLAP A NEW SUBTITLE ON IT, CHARGE 60 DOLLARS AGAIN, CHARGE 80 IDGAF ANYMORE. FREE MY MAN FROM DOGSHIT HARDWARE AND LOADING TIMES!!!

>>1177185 USE THAT ANGER AND MAKE IT REALITY!
>>1177147 Do you seriously trust Activision to do anything right at this point? Microsoft, same question. Use that tiny bit of autism for something good like the Sonicfags tend to do.
>>1177147 >>1177185 I seriously don't understand why it didn't get a PC version when both the crash remake trilogy and the spyro remake trilogy did
Hope the Decomp allows you to use Nitro Fueled's system instead of the original, I came to prefer its Sacred Fire mechanics more than the original.
>>1112060 the custom track site is down m8
>>1177323 As shit as MS is overall they actually make their games easily available on PC and are competent at mining old IPs with ports. I hoped the takeover of Activision would mean a PC port relatively quickly but nothing yet, maybe they haven't hollowed Activision out enough.
Does this work on Linux?
But if you mean online-ctr, it's on-pause for a bit.
>>1179499 I do mean the online portion. Too bad.
>>1177147 I strongly believe Crash and Spyro have been benched and in line to be sold off - especially alongside other mascot franchises they've hoarded over the years. The revival came and went. It won't be happening again under their umbrella in most likelihood.
>>1128535 Pure 90s soul, I love it!
>>1174103 Buddy modern games are some unoptimized bullcrap. I've recently gotten the Croc remake and it's insane how I can run it even on commodity hardware. Sure, PS1 title, but the load times are absurdly fast even in the bonus content section. >>1178043 Works on my machine >>1177147 Do people even like this game, like over the PS1 classic or the other inferior kart games? All I recall is getting frustrated with the ever so slightly different physics messing with my muscle memory. Also reminder https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35iLHknwsUk

>>1206321 >I've recently gotten the Croc remake and it's insane how I can run it even on commodity hardware. Croc is a remaster, not a remake. I'd bet its still running on the same source code as the original similar to what Nightdive does when they remaster games. In comparison, Nitro Fueled is a remake in the garbage Skylanders engine. You know, the one with loading screens with ads for shit. Almost as if the long load times were intentional.
>>1206671 >Croc is a remaster, not a remake Semantics aside, the new control scheme makes it feel like a completely new game and just as God intended it to be played. I still get absolutely wrecked by the respawning midget enemies that give you zero invincibility frames. I also like that you can toggle between PS1 aesthetics, "modern" aesthetics and AI upscaled textures, and somehow none of them look worse than the other. Almost as if a good art direction can make up for low polycount. >Nitro Fueled is a remake in the garbage Skylanders engine. You know, the one with loading screens with ads for shit. Almost as if the long load times were intentional. At last I truly see
What do I do with my life now?
>>1212215 Make a custom track of your own. The ultimate achievement.
>>1112060 >https://www.online-ctr.com/ I don't want to play online or having everything unlocked by default, but I'm interested in the 60fps patch. I did a bit of looking up and found it along with a widescreen patch. Dropping it here in case anyone else cares. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdkeiIj2R4c Looking forward to the PC port!
Amazing how great the thread looks without furry coomers
>>1225296 Fuck you faggot
(55.94 KB 772x1024 Stress cig.jpg)

>>1206321 I honestly think I prefer the remake now. The muscle memory was a hurdle for a while, but the new mechanics and tracks (mostly) make it my prefered choice. It's just tragic how abysmal the load times are, pretty much kills the game entierly, you literally spend more time in load screens than playing the game.
COCO'S COCOS
I want custom racers. Nina Cortex specifically with a PS1 style model. Also would be nice to have the Nitro-Fueled style of picking your character's handling instead of being forced into the default one.
>>1234217 >Also would be nice to have the Nitro-Fueled style of picking your character's handling instead of being forced into the default one. This right here is why I stick with the remake, the engines not being tied to a specific character is so good, one of their best changes.
>>1234217 >>1234934 There is apparently already a mod for that for the PC port, at the very least I've seen screenshot of it at some point. It's hard to keep track since they're being released one after the other at this point. >>1228593 PS1 Trophy Girls are objectively smuttier than the new ones
>>1239420 >PS1 Trophy Girls are objectively smuttier than the new ones Well yeah, the initial character designer admits they were censored after he did his job. No panty shots, no cleavage, covering as much skin as possible, fuck Activision. No surprise they murdered Tawna in Ass 4.
>>1239515 I think the biggest issue isn't even the less sexualized looks or the censored outfits, it's the damn puffy faces. They all look like they have a triple chin on them, which uglifies them compared to the leaner designs. A shame too because I like some of the changes.

(66.63 KB 600x367 Crash1.jpg)

(124.16 KB 900x550 Crash2.jpg)

>>1264251 >puffy faces You mean their snouts? They're anthropomorphic animals in the same vein as Looney Tunes not anime girls. The OG designs are less pronounced cause polygon restraints.
(1.18 MB 1414x1349 1460687368534.png)

>>1112060 Is now a good time to make custom tracks? As much as I want to make ports of tracks from other racing games, I'm concerned that there's a new update that add up more polygons or something and I have to modify the entire track once more. I just hope there's no update that would break existing custom maps due to things such as AI pathing or something
>>1295413 Honestly, from the videos floating around it seems so much easier to just make a WIP track right now and improve it as the updates are rolled out. Some folks were able to import multiple textures, animated textures and even change some of the elements of the map to give you like blue fire if you just pass through an area rather than just a turbo pad.

>>1239515 In a world of leaks I wish someone at Activision would just leak all the concept art of how the NS and Coco were meant to look in the remakes.
>>1128535 >>1288076 why are their eyes so fucking huge
>>1168740 And yet they managed to speed up the loading times on Switch compared to what it was on release. Not by optimizing their shitty code, oh no. No, they just used an option to overclock the CPU.
>>1333185 >No, they just used an option to overclock the CPU. At the very least OG Crash games had to abuse CD layouts to get things to run smoothly. Optimization is a lost art.

>>1482653 We shall see either way
>>1482643 >>1482735 >A few new characters Great, more microtransaction bullshit. No, I don't feel any kind of gratuity cause I KNOW how fucking bad the grind in Nitro Fueled was. Unless the pitstop and all forms of microtransactions have been removed (like what happened with Rumble), I see nothing more than another Activision cash grab. That's assuming any of this is true which I doubt.
>>1482643 >>1482830 This. Notice the post doesn't say that all the DLC will just be included here. Actually, if it did say that, I would know the post is a lie, since you know Activision is always gonna jew as hard as possible. They ruined the previous version of this game with that shit. Also, watch as the replace Tawna with the SJW version. I wouldn't even be surprised if they replaced the other trophy girls, even though they were all already given worse designs in the remake in the first place. But it will never be worse enough for them.
>>1482643 Neat, i hope there is a mod to re-add the boobs jiggle.
(172.60 KB 2048x1583 Eus32JxUcAABUCb.jpg)

>>1482643 Oh that's just peaches. I can't wait for all the hard work and effort put into the PC port, the fanmade multiplayer port and the custom tracks to be DMCA'd into oblivion, the tranny discord devs to kowtow to the new management and all the talent getting onto nuCTR modding rather than the superior PS1 title.
(190.45 KB 826x796 1145932067903.PNG)

>>1482643 I don't believe this horseshit for a moment. Activision would never give support to an old remake in anyway minor or major.
>>1483506 They removed it?
>>1483506 >>1484464 I think that video is fake. I can't find any jiggle even in the earliest of videos. https://youtu.be/jYI6RqTFRrk?si=sVpRXkt0ZUdVRSFE
>>1484864 I have no idea, i know the webm was posted on 4chan as early as June 13 2019, which is before the date (july 3 2019) of that youtube video https://arch.b4k.dev/v/thread/466205758/#q466223678

>>1483506 >>1484464 >>1484864 >>1484931 Hold on. I found the source of the webm, is from an early E3 2019 Build of the game and they indeed removed the jiggling when they launched the game in July. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEgQTWT5wb4
>>1484931 Found an earlier vid. No sign of jiggle https://www.youtube.com/live/-X1aTeAv73E?si=tfZjSJcyXyrlK91C&t=1370 >>1484974 Looks more like a physics glitch to me. Either way, that proves it was never actually in the game proper. Would be nice if jiggle physics on the tits were added. Hell, Mario Kart World has Daisy running around in the damn swimsuit and that game is for babies.
>>1484985 >>1484974 When looking at the E3 build, it seem that Papu Papu belly was bouncier too, lol.
(5.69 MB 1920x2349 crash cumming.png)

It's good being on a website with audio playback and less BS.
Looks like playing Nitro Fueled on the Switch 2 shortens the load times. This is good as this can be backported to Switch emulators meaning shorter load times for those as well. https://youtu.be/NX6hOImwMLA?si=NP98SgBdNiu69NPs
>>1493236 Development on Switch emulators slowed a lot since Nintendo's legal fuckery. Don't expect any serious progress for awhile.
>>1493453 Well that sucks
>>1484974 I wish concept art of their designs in CTR NF got leaked, because apparently they were going to look more sexy than how they appeared in the base game.

>>1333029 >>1498764 There isn't any concept art. They just took the models from the classic games and redid them. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/0Q5WY https://www.artstation.com/artwork/nY09J9 https://www.artstation.com/artwork/nYGB3K That's why only Crash 4 has actual concept art.
>>1499116 Theres always concept art do you not understand how game development works?
>>1500629 Doesn't look like it this time around. Closest you have is lazy paintovers of the 3d models for skins in NF.

Some more updates, my fellow racists: apparently all of the best available mods have been combined in a single, easily digestible package. For the time being only 7 custom tracks can be added, and even then they offer no way to play against CPU opponents, but we're getting there. https://www.mediafire.com/file/bj1xpxw31tvj7q3/CTR_UNLIMITED_V1.0.0.xdelta/file https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxOqisu6CRg Jewtube links because invidio keeps breaking >>1485176 A truly cunnying plan

>>1485176 Trying, but gotta work with the limits of local AI tools.
>>1515624 How are you making AI audio locally? I thought that shit was only able to be made through Google's 300 dollar plan.
>>1515624 Doesn't sound like Coco but nice effort nonetheless.
>>1515642 Zonos TTS: https://github.com/Zyphra/Zonos It's not as good as walled garden online shit & devs won't even update it, but I did find a newer fork with better compatibility: https://github.com/loscrossos/core_zonos Would be nice to find a better tool with emotion controls like Zonos has (that also runs locally). >>1516463 The voice was cloned from her original CTR voice, specifically using this audio: https://inv.nadeko.net/watch?v=s1iCNUGPIbI My audio editing is not stellar, but I try to string together clips that might work. Situations with less dialogue can turn out better: >>1479821 >>1490563
>>1517058 Okay, that makes sense. I've got Debbi Drewberry stuck as Coco's voice in my head. Didn't know her CTR VA was a different person.
>>1517377 Debbi Drewberry voice could work too, but that's also Jimmy Neutron lol. When I was searching for voice samples I found multiple different VAs for Coco. I didn't play those games enough to have any particular mental association for her voice so I just picked whichever had clean audio & seemed to match with the image I was using to generate the video.
>>1518433 >but that's also Jimmy Neutron lol. Gotta blast!
>>1518433 Derryberry is from the later, not as good (or outright shitty) games. The CTR voice was a good choice. Maybe the voice from Crash 2 would have been better, but CTR is acceptable.
>>1518433 Debi Derryberry (who's last name keeps getting autocorrected to "Drewberry") voiced Coco for most of the games. You'll have the biggest data sample from her.
Some news on the CTR:NF pc port front: It was never happening. No team, no budget, no life. https://youtu.be/ECUqQIBup5s?si=B2xqnnvH1NNO7DCd Turns out that Nvidia leak (the one that had Bayonetta 3 for PC) was a complete farce.
(181.56 KB 1280x720 mkwii ctr.jpg)

>>1521032 I'm glad that's the case. Not until Crash modding/ CTRPC is fully done so that even if they try and DMCA it into oblivion at least the games are complete and the scene is too vast to whack-a-mole it, like what happened with Mario Kart Wii. >>1517058 >Would be nice to find a better tool with emotion controls like Zonos has (that also runs locally). I remember the 15.ai ponyfucker having figured out how to do it much cheaply than with modern voice modulators, it's something about interpreting the text's emotional content and adjusting pitch and tone rather than performing even more model training.
>>1525659 >interpreting the text's emotional content I dunno how well that works. Using Zonos I can increase the fear slider to sometimes get frantic breathing & emotive vocal deliveries for lewd stuff, but it strongly depends on the source. If the source audio has certain sounds & emotions it's more flexible to get it to do those things. For example, the Japanese Zelda voice from Smash Ultimate excels at fearful vocal deliveries. Amy Rose voice from Mario and Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games was pretty good too.
