I'm hoping they cut back on the new Umbrella lore that they've been trying to write with RE7 and Village. Hell, even RE6 had the Neo-Umbrella nonsense. It was better when the origin was simple and to the point. RE is at its worse when they leave that simplicity and start trying to make things convoluted or mysterious. That being said, I still loved RE7 and Village, but I want to see them try something new.

Vendetta is fun but it's basically a fight scene reel, Degeneration is boring and Dead Island is incredibly stiff, whereas Damnation feels like if you tried to make a more serious sequel to RE4 that takes Leon to interesting places literally and character wise that set up his RE6 and Vendetta characterization unlike Degeneration. It also comes with a fun supporting cast and Sasha is an interesting introduction to the franchise by being a bio-weapon client treated with sympathy. It also does wonders for the world that the games were building towards by making it plausible that Umbrella produces Bio-weapons that people want to buy, the Lickers are quick and effective while making Tyrants feel genuinely menacing and heavy. Also it does a good job on making me want to fuck a hag like Svetlana by making the only genuinely good RE movie villain and unique in that she doesn't roid herself out with a virus in the end.

Did PrayDog ever manage to make a proper first person VR mode for RE4? I think Sony put the screws to him after he embarrassed them with the RE7 mod, and got the drop on them with RE8 before the PSVR2's "killer app" could be launched... but it's been a few years and PSVR2 failed anyhow. There's no point in maintaining VR exclusivity.
