Haste Shattered Worlds. Anonymous 04/17/2025 (Thu) 20:22:00 Id: 401019 No. 1118713
Has anyone played this? I beat the first shard, did a bit of the endless victory lap, and started the second shard, but I'm not feeling it. To put it simply, I'm not sure the randomly generated levels and rougelite, Slay The Spire-esque structure were the play here.
>>1118713 I've played and beaten it, and while I liked it overall it's not much more than just a fun distraction or something to play while listening to something in the background. I didn't mind the randomly generated levels too much since they incentivize thinking on your toes, and the time-stop equipment you get later on helps a lot with tricky situations. Grappling hook was also fun Endless mode feels pointless since a few healing items will set you up to go infinitely with no real challenge. Items as a whole are misguided, since I eventually only focused on boost/charge items and maybe one healing one and had zero issue getting by. Final "boss" was shit - none of the bosses are that great but the others at least incentivize quick reflexes and movement. Story is conpletely forgettable. Overall I'd rate it a light seven probably. There's a first person mod on the steam workshop that's kinda fun and maybe other mods will help iron out the kinks. [spoiler]I wish there were more Zoe porn
>>1119192 >failed the spoiler it's over testing, guessing you need to add the end of the spoiler too. I've been spoiled by 4chin's ctrl+s feature
>>1118713 I played the demo of this game during the steam next fest. I wasn't a fan of the roguelite/procedurally generated levels structure, but the movement felt really great. Was fun to fool around for a little while but it didn't keep my interest.
I was interested when it was a racing game, and then they reworked it into the mess it is now.
>>1119658 I feel like another issue with it is that only a few of the items are actually interesting, and it takes a while to unlock new movement abilities.
>>1119192 completely agree also I think a line between the lenses of her glasses would look better than the two of them just floating on her face

I didn't hate the simple story but goddamn does it feel like I'm missing something. This is the first game in this style where I have found 0 secrets, no side area, no mystery, no hidden combination of specific items to reveal an alternate ending, I really like just running, its fun, but I wish there was more to it, Unless there is more to it and I'm just being completely blind. ALSO HOLY SHIT YOU CAN SAVE AND QUIT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LEVEL AND IT JUST SAVES THE RUN WHY ISN'T THAT MADE MORE CLEAR

Endless can get really dumb if you let it go on long enough, I was able to get through this
>>1127683 The difficulty modifier can get really high.
People's main critique seems to revolve about the random generation, but can you really handcraft many levels in a game that's this fast? Are you gonna spend much time thinking about where to place the 100th cactus when the typical player is zooming past it at a gorillion miles an hour? You could slow it down and make it more themed about deliberate platforming, but then you're basically making a different game. Games like sonic have always just stopped you dead in your tracks to do some precision platforming/stage gimmick and that's generally the only thing stopping levels from having minute clear times. Either way, I got my moneys worth out of it.
>>1223397 I don't think it's as hard as that, since these levels are pretty simple as a baseline, as they are largely flat lines/curves with hills.
>>1118713 I played the demo and felt like it was a great movement system that is completely wasted by the asinine decision to attach it to a procedurally generated roguelike good movement needs good level design to reach its full potential

So, they added Co-Op
>>1118713 >erated levels and rougelite, Slay The Spire-esque structure were the play here. >>1119658 >I wasn't a fan of the roguelite/procedurally generated levels structure >>1384390 >the asinine decision to attach it to a procedurally generated roguelike git gud, unironically
>>1623351 The game isn't hard, though? The complaint is that it results in levels that aren't often interesting.
