/Command and Conquer/ Anonymous 04/18/2025 (Fri) 01:57:02 Id: 7f6f90 No. 1123972
Have you enjoyed some CnC lately? I have been playing Tiberian Sun and it's pretty underrated.
>>1123972 Tiberium Sun is the best game in the series. I haven't played C&C in forever, though. My fondest memories of it were discovering the original around a friends and thinking it was the coolest shit ever for making bases and commanding armies. Also LAN parties in college where we all played Red Alert 2 with mods.

>>1124014 I have been reliving command and conquer when I saw that they had released the complete collection on steam during the christmas sale. First thing I did was play the shit out of Red Alert 2, then I decided to play through all of the other games. Can't wait to play some Generals soon.
>>1123972 I've been playing through the entire series and trying out random mods as I go along. The amount of effort put into some of these mods is crazy. Although the balance tends to vary wildly per each mod which makes it a pain to adapt to if you try out a couple mods in a row. >>1124014 >Also LAN parties in college where we all played Red Alert 2 I played so much of that game and Yuri's Revenge back then. Only rts that ever came close playtime wise was Supreme Commander.
>>1123972 Back in the day there was supposed to be a C&C FPS RTS hybrid for the Xbox. I was so bummed when it got shit canned. Mountain blade sort of comes close and so does kingdom under fire, but I can't think of anything that's been a pure FPS and RTS, meaning you're a trooper in the mud but you also command an entire army
>>1124173 You mean Renegade? It's in the complete collection.
>>1124212 nta, but there was going to be a Renegade style game for the Tiberium Wars (C&C3) setting. I fucking loved Renegade though. The multplayer was glorious chaos.

>>1124258 I'm still impressed that the community for Renegade is still going strong enough to fill out a server of 40-60 players.
>>1123972 Going through some TibSun mods myself. Finished Twisted Insurrection and trying out Dawn of the Tiberium Age now. TI is pretty epic but I'd only recommend it if you're a hardcore fan of TS because there's a lot of bullshit difficulty.

>>1123972 Tiberian sun had the best atmosphere and the best soundtrack.
>>1124563 Disagree, Red Alert and Red Alert 2 soundtracks are GOAT.

>>1123972 TIME IS RUNNING OUT... T-T-TIME IS RUNNING OUT
When are we getting the Tiberium Sun and Red Alert 2 remaster?
Question for you fags, which Tanya did you like the most? RA 1, 2, or 3? I'm still mad about what they did to her in 3. Then again, I really still don't like 3 all that much. Well outside of Tim Curry being great. >>1124994 Those shits gave me ptsd back when I was shit and just wanted to turtle in my corner of the map. >>1125325 >YOUR FEELING OF HELPLESSNESS IS YOUR BEST FRIEND SAVAGE >>1125411 (checked) Considering their popularity, you'd think it would follow the last remaster, but also considering the rumors of lost code (they also got skipped over for the source code release they did earlier), then that may never happen.
>>1125411 The source code is out anon, make it yourself :) >t.EA
>>1125580 RA2 Tanya. She's the hottest and I think she has the most screentime and character development out of the three. I do like RA1's for her unit voice lines, she's pretty unhinged.
>>112397 I want to replay Generals and Zero Hour. Hopefully there will be more fixes for modern PCs like unlocked framerate in singleplayer. Most fixes so far focused on the MP.
Thoughts on the C&C clone that just released? https://store.steampowered.com/app/1486920/Tempest_Rising/
>>1125411 Never because they lost the code. A remake is the best they could probably do.
>>1128265 I hope it's good been looking forward to it for awhile, I'll check it out when I get some time.
>>1125580 >RA 1 Barely any screentime, not a very important character and she's never really explained. She's just some Allied civilian who is a god on the battlefield somehow >RA2 The best one. She's fun, flirty and a good unit. She's basically your right hand in the US campaign, and is more hands on than her Russian counterpart, who never does any fighting because they get some dude called Boris instead. >RA3 I never played this one due to EA's fuckery. She looks like a bimbo and is too much sex appeal and not enough semi-believable cool commando chick. The best female warriors in fiction look hot but also like they can fuck someone up a little, and this one just looks like a porn star.
>>1124563 My only problem with Tiberium Sun was how the cutscenes weren't people briefing you. Instead you had a shitty sci-fi channel original movie about some guys you didn't care about hanging around with the spaceship crew for whatever side you chose. I don't care about Slavic or McNeil. I'm the goddamn commander here. Brief me, Kain senpai!
>>1128265 Making a game full C&C references without C&C controls is weird.
>>1131655 How different are the controls?
>>1136414 You can't scroll with right click.
>>1144505 Sounds easy to patch
>>1164616 You'd think so, but it has been requested for a long time now, maybe for over a year but they don't want to add it for some reason.

Red Alert 2 is the greatest game ever made.
>>1176970 That image is a tough matchup. I love Tiberium Sun's atmosphere, and it has the coolest designs and units in the series, plus I find the Tiberium universe's plot more engaging. It has Kane, you can't beat that. Joe Kucan is a charismatic motherfucker, he makes NOD such a fun side to play with just his presence alone. But I have such a soft spot for Red Alert 2. It feels like the silliest and most fun sci fi war movie you'll ever see, every single actor is hamming it up in the best way possible and it strikes the perfect balance between being purely goofy and being playable, something RA3 dropped the ball on by going purely silly, even if Tim Curry was incredible. I just can't decide.
If anyone needs an excuse to play more Renegade, Apocalypse Rising mod is out now (it is a RA2 mod for Renegade). Looking forward to trying this later. >>1178571 >something RA3 dropped the ball on by going purely silly RA2 vs 3 reminds me of Saints Row 2 vs 3. Each one had the right balance of humor to seriousness and then the sequel fucks that up by going all in on the goofy shit.
>>1233013 Played some of it for an hour. Had some fun. >ambushing niggers with a mirage tank and wiping out all their artillery units feel great even more so when you later see them randomly shooting trees to look for you >harriers can change between their hover and flight modes, and I like that they gave the Kirov a small defense turret underneath it to plink at things while you slowly get into position >IFV and Battlefortress can use alt fire modes just like the rts where what you garrison in them changes the turret >attack dogs can drive vehicles which is far too funny looking to me when a dog motorcycle gang chases down infantry and then jumps off to maul the poor fag >units have their special abilities like the GI can deploy their sandbags/shieldwall/siege chopper deploy/Boris can call in migs >felt easier to play and do well compared to other Renegade mods >server had 30 players on when I tried it so I'm glad it is not dead on arrival >artillery had an auto adjustment option that was nice for when you didn't feel like manually dialing it in >all vehicles have alt cameras alongside the usual default camera to help with aiming >maps have environmental effects like sandstorms, the city map with the statue of liberty is pretty cool too <no AoE radiation move like the rts for the desolator instead he gets a ranged and smaller AoE alt fire <tesla troopers/tanks seem too good at being AA (they scare me more than the flak at times) <bots are buggy and get stuck a lot or drive off cliffs on certain maps (they were fine in other mods, so I assume they are still being worked on) <no naval units atm <launcher is struggling to load and bugged out multiple times when installing/downloading it (I'm guessing all the fags downloading the game is overloading it) I haven't tried everything yet, but I'll probably get around to it tomorrow if people are still playing.
>>1125580 Tanya!RA2 is objectively the best overall character, even though Tanya!RA3 is the sexiest she's for all intents and purposes just a bimbo. I'll take crazed tomboy over tittymonster seven days of the week. As for RA1, her voicelines are great but she does barely anything in it. And I agree, Tim Curry is the only one that holds the whole thing together by just how little shit he gives to his performance. The little smirks he gives as he breaks character that they still put in the final product really sell it to me. >>1125325 POWER TO OVERWHELM AND DESTROY >>1131426 >and this one just looks like a porn star Probably because the female leads were actual porn stars, or rumored of being some
What is everyone's stance on support powers? As C&C went on, these became more and more powerful and honestly I kind of hated it. Modders can be even worse with them where some are borderline super weapons. Though some got it right enough for me to tolerate them: >airborne attacks/paradrops always come from the direction of the enemy base so you have a good heads up on what is coming + a chance to shoot them down >they can damage buildings but won't delete structures if they are at full HP >they are not spammable (so many mods had this and it drove me nuts) >can't be used without vision of the target Do the above and I'll usually be alright with them. On the other hand, utility powers I never minded as much.
>>1277463 >What is everyone's stance on support powers? The most fun powers were in Generals but i can see why they're frustrating to play against >No cost besides requiring a HQ when its off cooldown <Which means you can just sell off the HQ after you shit out some artillery and airstrikes and wait for the next activation How did EA miss this giant oversight. Even RA2 made you have to maintain a building long enough to get your support power Also any support power that lets you insta delete a massive flock of air units is great
>Mental Omega dead >Shockwave dead >Rise of the Reds dead not looking good
>>1278507 >Rise of Reds Still waiting on that 2.0 overhaul. I hope it ends up being worth the wait. >mental omega I remember asking the devs some questions before and they mentioned fixes and more game options coming in a future patch, so it isn't quite dead yet. >shockwave I haven't tried this one yet.
>>1287873 Shockwave is probably the peak of generals modding, and rotr is just bloated shit at this point. They went way too far and completely changed the way the entire game works, such as china's units being absolute shit (even overlords) unless they have a propaganda bonus, and russia is now the slow steamrolling faction china used to be. I'm not confident the mod will ever get completed. Shockwave is great though since it takes everything ZH did and actually does them better. The teleporting plasma tank USA superweapon used to have has been gone for years, but I'd still say it's the best mod overall
>>1289599 I'll have to check it out dubsman. Thanks for the recommendation.
I miss the Desert Cruiser from Contra 007, seems like it got patched out or something, it was my favorite unit
>>1289599 The only thing I dislike about Shockwave is that they disabled the campaign, they didn't finish the Generals challenge maps for infantry and salvage and the only way you get either of those things is by playing a butchered version by some memester. Especially upsetting because the base factions in Shockwave got insanely cool stuff you will never see otherwise (in fact getting the base factions in the generals challenge would be cool already).
>>1123972 I've been playing both Renx and Planetside 2 quite often past few years, and the recently sale of C&C collection on steam made my buy it so i could play some classic renegade online. The community was active, and while I did enjoy some Interim Apex, I find Renx to be better than Renegade My favorite C&C is Generals and Zero Hour, but I haven't replayed those yet. I did play "under siege" expansion mission on tiberian dawn remaster tho. Shit was cash.
>>1298654 China vanilla is one of the harder AIs to fight. >oppressive spam >new helicopter that moves much faster than a Helix, can also attack air units and fires grenades that can't be deflected >new napalm airstrike ability
time is running out t-t-time is running out
