So….the shadow monsters. What EXACTLY were they? The plot makes it sound like were figments of Sunny’s imagination — but then why did Basil have one AND how were they able to see each others’ shadow monsters? Also what was the white room? It starts off very slowly, prologue takes about 1-2 hours to finish until you hit the part where it gets better. The story is hidden behind a layer of turn-based RPG mechanics so you have to bear with that if you want to progress, it's not a VN. Much of it takes place in an imaginary world made up by a 12-year old so if that's too heckin wholesome for you then you may not like it. I didn't so I just put up with it most of the time. If you're expecting TCOOAL dialogue, lolno, but it's kinda unfair to be expecting that. I played the main route (actually stumbled upon a bad end but it was a short one) and read the rest on a wiki and I'm satisfied with that. I like the main cast, the characters are pretty wholesome (healthy kind, not tumblr kind), there were parts that made me cry, the RPG part is annoying, the difficulty is mid if you know what you're doing, the ending is not unexpected but soul-crushing. Not sure what else to add. Overall I guess it was worth it, but I played for free. I could spare $10 for it. Also I wish there was a reason to play the second route other than to explore black space 2 which I'm not really interested in, I wish there were more story bits, maybe some side-stories, future stories, etc. Actually came to this thread to ask for game recommendations but after writing this mini review I think I've been consooming too much weird shit lately and I need something... normal.
