I have zero interest in Chinese mythology about a single monkey guy who's be overused in so many games already. That's why I didn't buy it, don't post about it, and don't advertise for it.

I don't have modern gaymen machine, so I can't play it. The monkey man's voice is ridiculous though, they really went for it but Idk man he sounds terrible

Most of the fights have you spamming your weak as shit light attacks to build up meter so you can use your big dick charged heavy attacks. Lots of abusing just dodges or whatever abilities you decide to build around. I went with Cloud of Many or some shit, basically makes clones that copy you. This game frustrated the hell out of me. My number one complain being they want you to explore but have no map. Sure no problem, but at least make the fucking areas distinct enough that I'm not constantly getting fucking lost. You can miss a lot of stuff this way, stuff that eventually leads to the true ending. Also lot of fights felt like straight up bullshit, and I only really liked the Tigers and the final boss*. Now THAT was a fight I was satisfied with, but it wasn't the true final boss, and I was burnt out by then. The story felt like it was just a highlight reel for people that are familiar with the myth already, but it was still cool from a spectacle point of view. I liked the pig guy the most, he's also the only real consistent character that sticks around for the game. The MC doesn't speak which sucks cause I was hoping to play as smug monkey king. I forgot a lot of my issues with the game but this is what stuck with me.

It had a lot of soul with the environment, music, and chink lore. The gameplay is standard dark souls roll shit. The story itself is hard to follow since I guess they assume you to know the original story more. Level design is gets really vast in a maze like way with a lot of invicible walls, making navigation often unintuitive. I stopped playong for a long while due to the middle part sort of being daunting. Chink voice made then dialogue hard to understand, but whenever I watch it with the english voice I surprisingly understood what they meant better despite it being the same reading of the subtitles. That said I felt that they tried to treat the original source material with great autistic respect which I enjoyed. Overall, I welcome the development of more higher effort chink games. Even their mobile-tier slop devs have been trying in this new wave with stirnova, marvel rivals, mechabreak, wild assualt, various dark souls copycats, etc. It's like they're scatter shotgunning into the market on what appeals and trying to cash in. God knows there's been a vacuum of demand for a lot of stuff they've been attempting. Will pick up chink adventures 2.0 with their next release.

If you're only gonna fight enemies and finish the game as soon as possible, then it's a 7/10. If you're actually interested in the whole lore and mythology of the game then it's a 9/10. The game has a lot of soulful elements that a lot of ADHD zoomers ignore, such as hand drawn entries for every single enemy you encounter in your journey, along with a backstory of how they became to be, and a little poem to summarize it all. There are some kino cutscenes/mini animations between every chapter that give a backstory to the main character of the chapter you just finished. The NPCs are quite likeable and the story is nice. You only have one weapon in the game, the monkey stick. However, the monkey stick has 3 different stances and each stance has its own combos and utilities (for example: smash stance allows you to charge your heavy attack while sprinting, making you play more aggressive, while pole stance lets you climb your stick all the way to the top, dodging some enemy attacks). The best part about the game is that you can respec for free at any time right from the menu, so you can adapt your stances to the enemy ar hand and it makes the game feel more varied in a sense. It's a pretty fun game imo, you should definitely give it a shot if it's on sale (assuming you're on the fence).

It's the greatest 7.5 out of 10 ever made.
