Dino Games Anonymous 04/20/2025 (Sun) 23:43:18 Id: 280dc6 No. 1183825
Post any dino games you either are playing, waiting or reminiscing about. Which do you hold the most dear/fondly?
(735.76 KB 2500x1087 CombatPrototype2.jpg)

>>1183825 And yes I am going to shill this game because they just fucking confirmed combat in the upcoming update but Prehistoric Kingdom is definitely a must play if you're into park building games, especially if JPOG was your chilhood. Dino's are genuinely beautiful and awe-inspiring and the game can be complicated but also allows you to have easy time to build with prefabs and even allows community made prefabs to be in your game if you wish to download them. It is currently just a doll house game but with the addition of combat in the upcoming updates this might legitimately be the best dinosaur park game.

Dino Crisis and Dino Trauma Also I wish they’d make a Pokemon game set in a Jurassic Park-like region.
>>1183825 >Which do you hold the most dear/fondly? You posted it Though .mp4 related was also pretty good and the 2nd videogame I ever played

(609.33 KB 800x599 78569789568.png)

>Which do you hold the most dear/fondly? for me it was dinosaur battles, i remember getting filtered a bit by the dna system and being stuck on that red spinosaurus final boss for ages
(5.13 MB blockade.m4a)

>>1183825 >Which do you hold the most dear/fondly? Jurassic Park 2 on the SNES. Contra style run and gun, with some mechanical limits added on; you're not supposed to kill the dinosaurs, only tranq. The Ingeniggers you can massacre, though. Great for a rental, especially if you had a second player. Soundtrack was good, too.
>>1183912 so finally a better successor of jpog? I kinda got disappointed whit both jw evo
(106.11 KB 543x640 2967786-7279112229-3ddin.jpg)

Childhood classic.
Does Dino Crisis count? I played that before RE and it always stuck with me. It's probably my first exposure to the idea of dinosaurs as terrifying monsters rather than wild animals like in Jurassic Park.
I've been replaying Dinosaur King for the DS on an Emulator. Boy did I forget how much I hate grinding. Thank god for the speed up options. The game itself is still neat, but the backtracking is annoying and I think most of the dinos don't look like they should since the feathers were discovered.
>Every death in the park costs INGEN millions of dollars <Best I can do is 200 dollars doc >Deal
Anyone played that Jumpstart Dino game? Was pretty fun.
mario
What do you guys prefer in your dino vidya, awesomebro or accuracy?
objectively the best

>>1205499 I don't wanna seem like I am a shill for this game but it genuinely tries its damnest to be a legit park simulator game and from the mouth of the devs themselves, a spiritual successor to JPOG. They went nearly bankrupt several times from the development of this game from just how much effort they're putting on adding nuance to the game. Currently, they've added ontogeny and herding behavior to the game for every single animal species (60+, not counting sub-species). They also plan on adding prehistoric botany to the game and other prehistoric critters aside from dinosaurs, like our gramps. We're currently in update 15, the combat update is gonna launch with update 17. >>1207349 50/50? What stops from making an accurate but also cool looking dino?
>>1183912 Meh, bought this thinking it would be a proper spiritual successor to JPOG unlike JWE but it's some faggy planet zoo feel good game where nothing bad happens instead of a disaster management like JPOG I hope when they add dinosaur aggression and combat you'll actually have a reason to build a t-rex paddock with more protection than just wooden fences but given the whole vibe of the game I heavily doubt that, shame cause the dinosaurs are gorgeously modeled and animated
(243.98 KB 1024x1024 ztdinodigs-1674248297931.jpg)

Been thinking of booting this up again, but it seems like it might be a pain in the ass to get working. I really just want to unleash the t-rex on the visitors.
>>1187129 I like the lava cave soundtrack. That game was great but the lack of any sort of save functionality was crippling. Never made it to the end despite leaving my snes running overnight a few times. Watched an LP of it decades later and I don't think there's any qay I could have beaten it as a kid. It has some bs sections. https://youtu.be/JMwPDBtItS0?si=oyGc9v81dvtKtGbN
>>1207349 I like feathers. I think colourful birdlike dinos look awesome. The bare skinned ones look pretty strange to me these days.
i like dinosaurs :)
(104.70 KB 1280x720 maxresdefault (6).jpg)

>>1207349 Despite being mostly a disaster of a game I always felt that The Isle had a pretty good balance between the two.
Bump
>>1186293 Big agree, I'd actually buy it >>1183825 I hope they remaster it someday. instead of the mid stuff we're getting these days
>>1207080 i used to play this at like four different arcades
>>1250516 I still revere JPOG for being such a captivating and well-made game despite being rushed and released incomplete. We were supposed to have around 50 dinosaurs and yet we only got less than half of that number and it still functions as a wonderful game experience. It has an amazing soundtrack and gameplay loop, the dinosaurs still look gorgeous and timeless and they act like like animals. I still find it fascinating how they manage to create a game that has herds and genuinely well made carnivores that are capable of hunting like an actual predatory animal. Its also pretty fucking simple as games go with its code, its confusing as fuck on why so many newer games haven't been able to get even halfway through when it comes to its gameplay and feel of JPOG.
>>1207349 What accuracy is there to be had? All depictions of dinosaurs are done through artistry. There is no accurate depiction of dinosaurs to exist period. We do not have a single complete intact fossil of a single ancient creature. It is even funnier that they are adding feathers to dinosaurs to generate more funding to "research" this new revelation.

>>1253930 >We do not have a single complete intact fossil of a single ancient creature. I know you're probably making this claim just to troll but this couldn't be more wrong. Even if we excluded every prehistoric animal that we literally have damn near perfect fossils of what they looked like and talk about dinosaurs only, we still have some pretty solid fossils to tell us how they looked, acted and even what colors they had. We have a perfectly preserved fossilized mummy of a 2 ton edmontosaurus for christ's sake. <Feathers That's just beating a dead horse at this point.
>>1183912 When are they adding dinosaur attacks? game's pretty boring right now
>>1183825 I used to play Operation Genesis' demo for hours. I liked sniping the dinos.
>>1211682 I have the ultimate collection somewhere. I remember it running flawlessly on Win7 so I don't see why it would be a pain in the ass to get it working on Win10/11. Give it a shot.
(15.34 KB 300x168 Jurrasic park.jpg)

This game scared me as a kid
>>1183825 I always wanted to see how terrible Trespasser was
(3.77 MB 328x240 krona_attacks2.gif)

>>1186293 >>1250516 >No mention of Fossil Fighters itt It's not a perfect alternative, but it got the job done. Too bad the series killed itself with the third game.
>>1217306 I just wish the stamina system wasn't so ass for ptera, and that there were more servers so you didn't have to wait in a queue behind like 40 people just to play the game.
>>1209576 It genuinely looks like it's gonna be great. Apparently they added the option to make stuff from individual building sections which is neat.
>>1268998 They're supposedly reworking the pteranodon entirely so it's actually playable, though with them you never know if they're gonna find a hyper specific and incredibly retarded way of fucking it up (they probably will)

Has any game tried to have feathered dinosaurs?
>>1278517 Which ones?
(55.00 KB 1200x1680 Dino.jpg)

>>1278518 All the shit ones
>>1212104 Of course there were plenty of Jurassic and Triassic ones that did have bare skin. The thecodonts too. Even T. rex was at minimum 90% featherless.
(299.79 KB 1630x2048 Nigersaurus origin.jpg)

I want a Dino Crisis Remake. Some people argue they should just make a sequel to finish the series, but I don't think anyone gives a shit about the story. I'm also pretty sure it's their emergency backup like FF7 remake.
>>1352110 Capcom is retarded so they won't reuse the assets from that garbage Hero shooter with dino they made to do precisely that.
>>1207349 50/50, accuracy is an entire rabbit hole, just make them cool. Will Kyoryu ever release?
>>1278468 If they make ptera not take 5 thousand years to recover stamina, I'll buy it. In the meantime Path of Titans has been rolling out alot of TLCs and updates recently so that's breddy gud. >>1352110 Consider trying Dino Trauma
I wish there were more games like Dino Crisis and Jurassic Park: Trespasser. Dino horror is such an underutilized genre and it's sort of ridiculous the only other medium it's ever really taken off in besides film is analog horror.
