>finally release DLC after 5 years >It appears to just add gimmicky new battles instead of role playing depth like people actually wanted which would have dramatically improved the games playability I am upset
>>1195418 I just remembered this game exists. After so many years of people waiting for and hyping it up just to end up as a wet fart. What a shame.
>>1195418 Have they hired some real devs yet?
>>1195966 its honestly a great game still, its just upsetting that it is so close to being a solid 11 out of 10 if only the devs could just prioritize some basic features that would make the game more engaging
>game is close to being good but just needs work on the fundamental features that not only were promised to be in the game but were also a part of the previous >instead choose to prioritize developing gimmicks why is this so common with developers
>>1195418 despite dev's best effort to kill the modding scene there are still some pretty good mods out there. maybe I am bitter faggot but the whole announcement came off as shallow attempt at cash grab, they were really pissy with warband when people played as Nords(read vikangs) rather than OCDONUTSTEEL not arabia.
>>1196282 now that you bring mods up, did they actually release the full modding tools they were talking about since the release of the game 5 years ago?
>>1195966 I do end up having my complaints, but I've simultaneously put 200+ hours into it. It has the makings of a good game, just that a lot of the mid-late game mechanics didn't vibe with me and disincentivized me ever wanting to see a run to the end. I found a lot more enjoyment out of personal challenges, like one-man-army builds and companion-only runs. Being a power multiplier to a faction can be fun, though the speed at which armies get shat out in this game makes the impact of taking them out feel muted. Mods helped a lot to add enemy variety, as the combat was what I really enjoyed (as well as the gameplay loop of looting money and equipment to become stronger). Just feels like a fresh coat of paint and some tweaked mechanics could really breathe life into it. Shame there's so little in terms of overhauls outside of RBM.
>>1196367 https://www.taleworlds.com/en/News/399 don't know about "full" but modding tools were out early as for the complexity of mods there are some pretty impressive ones >magic system (Old Realms) >Assassination, Thievery, Bribes, Bandit Hideout establishment, Instigating a Rebellion (Fourberie) >homesteads (same name) >Elite units, Faction exclusive armory, slings, gladius that has switchable thrust/swing mechanic, pillums (Eagle Rising) >Combat overhaul which includes more body parts with various bonuses(getting stuck with sword in the face/armpit hurts who knew), shield is no longer wall sized forcefield you can actually hit them with arrows up close, thrown weapon demolish shields, archery nerfed (Realistic Battle Mod)
>>1196778 I remember this being a major complaint from the modders at loverslab, that and the frequency of small updates that broke all mods. Homesteads look pretty cool, reminds me of that mod that had a hierarchy system from a serf to a king and allowed you at a certain rank to create forts, settlements and colonies in the new world
>>1195418 I hope they add more to the game besides just naval battles, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I'd rather they just stop updating the game so much with those 2kb txt changes so modders can take over since they barely want to do anything.
>>1196274 Working on fundamentals is boring while making something new is fun
>>1195418 There's something very curious about M&B as a franchise in general, and it's the fact that it actually represents the nature of medieval warfare better than dedicated "simulations" like Crusader Kings or wargames like TW. To explain myself a bit: The center of the medieval war plan is the siege, not the battle. Every campaign and strategy exists for the purpose of capturing a castle, and battle, rather than an objetive, is the means by which this process is facilitated. While field cavalry charges are as brutal as they often are effective, the main use a force of knights will have is raiding and facing off against enemy knights intended to stop you from gathering the resources necessary to siege a castle. All of this is extremely well represented in M&B. The siege is the center of any campaign, and raiding a vehicle to make this viable and easier. Battle, when it happens, it's usually as the consequence of a siege. All is extremely realistic to a point that no other game has managed to match so far. It's a shame that Bannerlord fumbled as it did, given that I don't think we'll get anything similar. Still, hoping for the In the Name of Jerusalem 2 guys to one day finally deliver.
>instead of role playing depth That's what they're doing with free content updates for the base game. https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/261550/view/537722458840500092

>>1196282 play a real mod
>>1201809 well at least the stealth thing sounds cool. It will be nice to actually be able to break my waifu and/or her father out of prison what the game needs more than anything though is more reasons to interact with other characters and more engaging fife management I think. anything to give you more to do outside of combat
>>1195418 Just play Viking Conquest for Warband
>>1195418 Country is fucked right now, please understand.
>>1207627 how bad is it? is there a possibility of regime change?
>>1201958 >BRO... >COOM thank you Democrat supporting child for the thoughtful input
>>1195418 At this point I'm just waiting for the next Full Invasion mod release which is adding warhammer stuff. I have given up on the singleplayer for butterlord. If I want singleplayer content I just go back to Warband mods like Warsword Conquest and shit.
Warband was always better than this shit.
>more reasons to interact with your wife and clan members >more reasons to interact with other nobles in your kingdom, like plotting and scheming to advance by doing quests etc. >feasts to facilitate these interactions obviously >more internal politics and instability within kingdoms, perhaps a need to balance between pleasing different nobles to avoid civil war and pleasing the plebs so they dont revolt >ability to customize followers appearance >more engaging feif management these are honestly the main things i think the game lacks that would make it a true 10/10. basically anything that makes the game less of a mindless map painter and gives you something to do outside of battle
>>1195418 Warband never gave the same epic battle feeling it was much dorkier, maybe the lack of volumetric fog and trees and so on. End game is a disaster they will never fix unfortunately
>>1213081 Yeah the game desperately needs more roleplaying aspects and diplomacy/intrigue content. Every singleplayer run I do leaves me feeling like the game is lacking or incomplete still.
>>1207719 >how bad is it? Hard to tell exactly because of the almost total media blackout on any of the action. It's in a bit of a lull due to the holidays and people being in jail but none of the initial conditions changed and an even younger segment (highschoolers compared to the initial graduate/university crowd) are becoming active so it's very unlikely for that to lead to a total stop. > is there a possibility of regime change? Probably not if you mean sudden/violent change, the government is too isolated from the citizenry even though they lost almost all street level support. An early election instead of waiting for 2028 for the natural end of the current term is a serious possibility though.
>>1195418 i've been waiting forever to buy this game but i refuse to do so until the devs add what's the essentials that are missing
>>1207627 what's the shot of penguins a reference to?
>>1219608 I'm waiting for shokuho.
>>1219782 Government aligned media kept (re)-airing a wildlife documentary about penguins to avoid having a news segment on while stuff was happening.
>>1220726 I'm waiting for the 2hu mod
>>1214644 End game would be fine if the Governors actually did shit like building construction and actual management while you focused on war.
>>1195418 i honestly only play modded multiplayer, sometimes vanilla mp but TW ruined it by not releasing new maps, how the fuck can you NOT release new maps

you know what, fuck it, i regret formatting this thread as a complaint I was playing today and got into multiple large very even battles, some of which where I was captaining either cavalry or archers, and had a lot of fun as much as there is a lot to complain about regarding lost potential, the game is still fun as shit and nothing really does what it does better, so from now on I will appreciate it for what it is there is also something to be said about the captaining mechanic specifically, where the battle is largely out of your hands and you are micromanaging your own unit. something about that experience feels extra immersive
>>1231147 >I was playing today and got into multiple large very even battles, some of which where I was captaining either cavalry or archers, and had a lot of fun the issue is the game being built around leading the player to experience large battles as much as possible while the other systems are minimally fleshed out. it's made to be played in short bursts to experience big battles then to be ditched rather than a long session like warband. while playing warband, especially for the first time, you legit lose track of time when playing.
Play Vikangz Conquest, niggers.
>>1234746 I still do with Bannerlord, I spent like 100 hours in a week on that. The late game in Warband was also ass, and that's to say nothing of the original 2008 release. The main issue is that the management aspect is too random for you to get any meaningful progress in painting the map outside blobbing all your units by wasting Renown.
I really liked being on horse and swinging the Executioner Axe. I am fucking terrible at tactics in these games, but there's a catharsis this game provides in turning a dozen of supposed proud warriors into feed for carrion that nothing else truly scratches.
>>1677934 Fleet mods are going to be great
>>1677934 >mix of cinematic and gameplay footage Just do a purely gameplay trailer already. I want to see how jank this will be.
>>1307248 >I am fucking terrible at tactics in these games Just use the smile: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfdLRjBWOgM The video says it's for Vlandia but it will work with every culture. Just put a square of shield infantry in the center, and flank then with shock infantry surrounded by heavy shield cavalry, then put the archers back in a C formation and tell them to hold fire until the enemy is close. Enemy cavalry will straight up commit suicide charging your flanks, and when the enemy infantry charges your square you tell your shock troops to charge and they'll surround and massacre the infantry. All that will be left are archers and you can just charge your cavalry at them. This strategy is completely busted and will easily win you battles against far stronger armies with minimal losses.
