Post books Other anons recommend games based on the book I will start.
(22.66 KB 307x475 117833.jpg)

>>1213921 Obviously Dark Souls. Hard to get around. Sorry it's not a more intelligent response but it's like trying to not say RDR2 if somebody posted Blood Meridian. Can't help but feel like /vlit/ usually works better in reverse where we make book recs to match posted games.
(27.57 KB 247x403 1723034235249519.jpg)

>>1214018 You should try some, dear brainlet-kun >>1214306 Maybe you are right, but kinda hard not to start a /lit/ topic without posting a book first.

>>1214306 Also I'll post one of the opposite, give me a book where the main character hangs out with hot centaur girls.
(270.21 KB 903x1447 magicalJewChurch.jpg)

>>1214481 >centaur girls Midnight at the Well of Souls jumps to mind, even if only has the one
(49.55 KB 329x500 373051.jpg)

>>1214481 Sorta, it was pretty boring.
>>1213921 If anyone read the planescape torment novelization tell me what the nameless one's crime was

>>1220142 Vampire the Masquerade
>tfw haven't read anything in two months besides a couple of shitty self help books and barely any of the bibble

>>1215351 Never read that book. Based on your description though i recommend megaman legends one and two.
>covers >Anons not realizing you can post actual books
I forgot which one of these was the good one. You know reading Blood meridian while listening to the fallout 1 soundtrack is oddly fitting.
>>1215351 I would say Elder Scrolls Morrowind fits a lot the world of Dying Earth, specially if you go hunting for rare items. >>1254071 Cugel, a silver tongued burglar, try to steal from a wizard but is caught and forced to go on a quest on the other side of the world to steal a rare artifact or a parasite in his chest will kill him. Cugel's constant greed and lust make his journey back full of wacky shenanigans. Really fun adventure with an even funnier ending.
>>1254147 Oh, then you want nwn2 and its sequal mask of the betrayer. Or you can just skip to the motb if you arent shit at D&D

An extremely important piece of fiction, THE novel that inspired Lovecraft. Only the first few stories are really "Lovecraftian", the rest of the novel becomes piece drama/romance. For historical context, The Street of the First Shell is based during the real-life Franco-Prussian War of 1870. That would have been obvious to a person reading the book when written, but not so much today. >tfw no gentle femdom French ghost gf

>All this love for books Friendly reminder there is a >>>/lit/ board, and it could absolutely use some love. And probably a cool CSS. >>1254147 >Jack Vance Cool, I recently found out about his work from a collection of short stories I have that contained The Moon Moth. Funnily enough, I actually got into that story because I'd played Sunless Sea and one of the islands in that game was inspired by the story first. The exotic world of the story really left me wanting more, especially with how alien its method of trade and social structure was, along with how the aliens of its world communicate through poetic speech and with the addition of different intonations provided by a myriad of musical implements. It's a fun read, here's a pdf copy of it (starts on page 80). There's also a graphical adaptation that has a really nice diagram of all of the instruments featured but apparently nobody bothered to scan a high res image of it. >>1214607 >>1369483 >A Canticle for Liebowitz Really good book, also iirc the main inspiration for the original Fallout games (besides Mad Max) since it's explicitly what the Brotherhood of Steel is based on.

>>1369708 Yeah, Vance has this very prose-like style of writing, like he is describing a dream.
>>1225962 NTA but I've never been able to take audiobooks seriously, they're not at all the same as actively reading something yourself.

Lots of games where you play a barbarian, but never played anything that really captured this feel.
(348.65 KB 696x860 Angry.png)

>>1375202 >the most famous conan game and the one closest to a full fledged RPG is a shitty survival sim. I hate Norway.
>>1375202 Because Conan shouldn't be playing as a "barbarian" and instead playing as a thief/sword-for-hire who occasionally fight cosmic horrors.
>>1375704 I am afraid a game like that might become awfully generic in the modern day. Just crouch stealth and some generic action RPG combat. I would probably still be happy with that as long as it keeps the aesthetics and savagery of conans world.
>>1375704 Conan is a barbarian though. But he's also a thief, a pirate, a mercenary, a steppe nomad, a palace guard, and a king. He is an adventurer who wears as many hats as there are kingdoms in the Hyborian age. Closest thing I can think of that lets you break out of your mold to that extent is mount and blade warband, but the aesthetics aren't there.
