IKEMEN/Mugen Anonymous 04/23/2025 (Wed) 07:38:28 Id: 757034 No. 1223390
For eight (probably has been eight. Might be more. I don't remember.) years I've had this shitheap on my storage. I've recently upgraded my maintained 8mugen collection to IKEMEN, and I've thrown a shitload of characters into it over the years. Most, if not all, of the original 8mugen collection is still there. (Second pic is the original screenpack pic to jog your memory.) It's fifteen gigabytes and about 479 characters big. This means sharing it will be a difficulty. Only would be worth it if there's interest or any anons around who actually remember this shit. I changed the skin because there was no Ikemen compatible version. Picrel is a bit outdated as some characters that have black slots are bugged and needed fixing. Has a bunch of hidden/ai characters. Latter is completely or mostly unplayable (for humans.) Former is compressed into other characters. (gotta use the 'd' and 'w' keybinds set in the options menu on certain characters to access them. Like Goku. Neat Ikemen feature.) Also, IKEMEN/Mugen thread I guess. Quick FAQ <OP Install specific >Is [Character] in your install? I dunno. Flip a coin. It's 479 characters. There's 21 slots left so there is space for more. But it's already fucking 15 gigabytes. Technically infinite AI-only slots and multi-character slots. But they're all bound to one character. So Saber has Saber and Saber Alter bound to her, for instance. >Why the fuck is [Character] and not [Character] in your install?! If it's a matter of taste, I don't give a shit. If you want to include a certain roster, feel free. If lots of additions are made I'll upgrade the screen to 704 characters. If certain characters are shittier than others, suggest/add the better versions to replace the old ones. >Does everything work? Good question. Most characters, yes. Most stages, yes. There are numerous characters with small bugs that require text file changes to fix. I'm not even aware of them all. >Why share this if you don't have a link for it? Fifteen gigabytes. My upload speed is dogshit so I'm not going to upload it if no anons give a shit. It will take all day for me to upload. >Why now? With this burst of activity, maybe someone will remember and will want to continue. >Could we shit out our own Saltybet? If I remember correctly, this was originally an attempt at doing so. >Multiplayer? Yes. Gotta use the same version of the game. I'm not privy to the details, but the same characters/stages are likely what needs to match. For update purposes I have a file structure going on inside the chars directory, separating up characters. No real rhyme or reason to this- but typically it terminates at 2.5 gigs or >50 characters. Whichever comes first. <General >What is MUGEN? MUGEN is a freeware proprietary 2d fighting game engine developed by Elecbyte. The engine is written in C and uses the SDL Library, and stages, characters, screenpacks, life bars, and even engine modifications have been made by the community. Although full games have been made in MUGEN, the engine has been widely used to make one's dream fighting game roster and make cartoons fight anime and shit like that. Most "recent" version is 1.1b. http://mugenguild.com/forum/topics/download-mugen-latest-release-1-1-official-release-8613-105841.0.html If you've ever seen a shitty youtube clip of Peter Griffin beating the shit out of Mario in a fighting game setting, it was probably MUGEN. >What about online multiplayer? Although base MUGEN does not have online multiplayer, a fork of MUGEN called IKEMEN has implemented online multiplayer. (Both players have to have the same IKEMEN full game for online to work properly) >What is IKEMEN? IKEMEN is basically the same thing as MUGEN but built newer/open source. Use IKEMEN GO. It's a continuation of ol' Ikemen. >Cool, how do I set it up? There are thousands of guides on the internet on how to manually add characters, stages, and screenpacks (drag character folders into 'chars' folder, stage files into 'stages' folder ,screenpack files/folder into 'data' folder, etc.; then edit select.def), but if you want it to be done a bit easier, then use Vselect. >Does [Character] exist? Probably. Many, including most niche, anime characters are tiny sprite shitfests (called JUS for easy identification) because that's easy to draw. Gotta use your search engine skills for this one. >Links? Useful Links: http://pastebin.com/5D91040L IKEMEN GO: https://github.com/ikemen-engine/Ikemen-GO The original MUGEN site is gone. Gonna have to scour pages for it. Funnily enough the elecbyte documentation is still hosted. https://www.elecbyte.com/mugendocs/mugen.html Characters/Stages/etc: https://mugenfreeforall.com/ https://mugenarchive.com/ (AIDS alert. Site requires a login to download anything, and has daily bandwidth caps. Other drama exists but it's still unfortunately a rather extensive resource.)
[Expand Post]Old MUGEN Copypasta Pastebins: http://pastebin.com/JLv2TDsV http://pastebin.com/au1Hk9y3 http://pastebin.com/y4CNv02w I don't have a more recent version. Last time my copypasta txt was touched was ages ago.
>>1223390 I fucked up the links section, but it's probably way outdated anyway.

>>1223390 Man, I've always loved this shit. Except for the overpowered characters, I guess it's funny the first couple of times you see a video of Tom Hanks or those guys who crash the game, but having various iterations of real fighting game characters fight in a realistically viable environment has always been a great passtime. I especially remember a very well done Homer Simpson edit. By the way, wasn't there some 3D Mugen game being developed with no one in particular caring about it? No, Soul Calibur's character creation doesn't count, though that's probably as close to nuMugen as we're ever gonna get.

Also, man, fuck WEBP Is there any Firefox plugin that just converts WEBP files to whatever I want?
>>1223390 >IKEMEN GO Is this shit compatible with all mugen characters? both 1.0 and 1.1? Any downsides compared to normal MUGEN? I was thinking of making one with all magical girl characters i could find, been years since i used mugen.

Am I retarded or is Mugen coding kind of hard?

>>1223589 Most of my collection is like that. I have a few PNG characters like Hotel Mario and the like, but when I want a character I look for a down-to-earth version (or one that is similar enough to how the character was in their games.) >>1223656 >Compatibility Generally it's compatible with both 1.0 and 1.1. Downsides is that anything coded based off a specific quirk of the original engine may not work. But the vast majority of characters should work fine, as ikemen go tries a lot for compatibility. >>1226169 Mugen coding looks easy, but the difficulty seems to be in keeping track of shit.
>>1231272 >But the vast majority of characters should work fine, as ikemen go tries a lot for compatibility. I will give it a try i suppose, really want to make a magical girl battle game. Probably gonna see how hard it is to make a screenpack on it. Fuck me this website is slow.
>>1223390 Can you at least upload the screenpack and lifebar?
>>1223390 >M.U.G.E.N/Ikemen Thread I finally feel like I'm home..
>>1267522 Thanks.
where link?
>donation Fucking greedy niggers.
>>1270882 soon (tm) a lot of shit I gotta fix. Skullomania isn't even with the rest of the street fighter cast for instance, and every green arrow rep I've tested crashed the game so I've gotta figure that out. And megaman has a really weird infinite the CPU likes to do. >final arcade run after swapping to Goku is against Iron Man >use Spirit Bomb, proceeds to earrape since Iron Man is dodging it somehow but its a cutscene >when Goku actually pushes the spirit bomb, the game instantly crashes. >>1271065 I fucking hate Mugen Archive. I get putting bandwidth caps but that line is an actual lie since the adminstration isn't online. I have an account that hasn't been approved for going on four years now. Not disapproved, not shadow disapproved, the line just hasn't fucking moved for four fucking years. And you'll never guess what instantly lets you download shit with basically unlimited bandwidth.
>>1271072 I had a account there, old as fuck, it got banned randomly for no reason.
>>1271072 At this point, whatever you want in Mugen ARCHIVE chances are is in the Andersonkenya1 site where it's basically the same thing but 100x better imo. I had an account and I criticized them for one of their shitty ideas, they winded up banning me.
How is the Ikemen rollback project going? Did it get merged into go, postponed? Haven't heard anything about it for a year or so.
>>1273063 Wait ikeman doesn't have rollback?
>>1271072 I know this post is several months old but it does make me wonder if there are any other archives dedicated to certain types, especially since I remember a certain R-18 edit of Akira Honjoji from a YouTube video that was taken down a long time ago and I don't know if that was preserved in some fashion.
