Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon Anonymous 04/26/2025 (Sat) 22:57:32 Id: 36eaab No. 1267868
What a piece of doodoo dogshit lol. My performance was good on the tutorial island but after I left it I'm struggling to get even 30 fps on the lowest graphical settings and that's with an rtx 3060 and 16 gbs of ram, surpassing the recommended system requirements. Why are game devs seemingly incapable of optimizing their games even out of a AA game? I shouldn't have to do workarounds and fix anything, the game should be good out of the box
>>1267868 >why is Eurojank Skyrim v0.9 not good out of the box? Anon, I...
>>1267868 >Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is a mature, first-person perspective open-world RPG, taking you into a dark fantasy world inspired by Arthurian legends.
Is this a bot thread? Whats up with the bot/gore spam?
>>1358404 That sounds pretty self-explanatory, it's based on a tabletop RPG if you're wondering. >>1359123 No, we've had a bot for a few weeks. Just ignore it, his posts are rarely up for longer than an hour.
>>1267868 I forgot about this one. Not shocked it turned out kinda rough though like >>1270719 said. Hopefully as they keep working on it and it becomes a more polished experience. >>1359123 Some autistic retard has a bot spamming the site.
I haven't had any issues when I last played it in November. Waiting for the full release.
>>1360563 the full release is here >>1267868 whats your experience with it now?
(182.08 KB 1159x690 1632867677136.jpg)

>>1267868 pirating it right now, interested in it when I kept getting trailers for it and digged the aesthetics, hopefully it won't be too shit
>>1396631 It's not. For being made by a smaller sized studio (I think they hired more people and have like 60 total) its pretty impressive. The most refreshing thing is it seems to be made by normal people who set out to make the game they want to make instead of bland, focus group, dei, slop. Obviously, it's not going to wow you the same way a new elder scrolls would techwise or anything, but even with whatever their smaller budget is they still do a lot of things way better than Bethesda, Obsidian, Bioware, etc. (Which these days I guess doesn't mean that much but making games to this scale is no small undertaking.)
>>1267868 Besides optimization (still better than expected given it's a Unity game from new devs), release seems to be pretty damn good out of the box, hopefully it starts a trend of serious competition for Bethesda's niche. And apparently there's mod support planned soon™, Todd must be fuming.
dear god the combat is shit. the spells are fun but on medium difficulty you die in 3 hits cause souls like lmao, and you have to zoom around with dodge button, which works wonders in the claustrophobic dungeon. I tried picking all the melle options in character creator and parrying/blocking/shoving does crap to enemies. and zooming around throws you across the room so good luck with that the world is really interesting and the spells are fun. I suggest playing on easy till you level up somewhat. now for optimization, it does some file integrity check on every boot of the game which takes half an hour and has my storage read on 60% in task manager. yay my hard drive is getting raped. this takes around 6-10 minutes according to steam forums on an ssd. oh yeah I expected better cohesion from such a small dev team. there is a note of someone doing a brain autopsy and putting the brain in a jar, next to it is a brain just sitting on the table. there was also a note about someone eating glass and dying and for some reason there was a heart sitting in the middle of a broken jar instead of a corpse dont got more nitpicks, crafting seems neat
>>1396749 >hopefully it starts a trend of serious competition for Bethesda's niche. This, pretty much. Other devs have had 30 years to take some Elder Scrolls money and nobody has even tried.
Parrying and blocking are dogshit, don't bother.
I'm going to buy it so I can easily get updates when my main gaming pc is done being worked on
>>1400348 Blocking at least works to an extent, parrying is absolutely worthless and was clearly only added because some souls fag on the dev team or more likely, from the EA, told them to add it.
>>1400724 Could it get good with updates?
>Polish Skyrim
So is the game actually finished or is it more like beta 2.0? Early Access game have an awful habit of only being 1.0 years after their 1.0.
>>1400753 They released all of the chapters which is 4x as much content as EA, so yes it's safe to say the game is finished
>>1400753 steam's 1.0 is gog's 0.65 we still a long way away
>>1400733 Yeah, right now the tuning is just extremely bad. I'm in act2 and generic mobs that spawn with 2h swords are taking 90% of my stamina bar when I parry. Meanwhile, dodge with minimal point investment takes next to no stamina, is easily spammable, lets you reposition to allow more damage uptime, and lets you kite against multiple enemies. Enemies don't get mini-staggered when you block or parry them, so if there's three mobs on you (which is happens every other fight), then your stamina gets wiped out, you become staggered and the mobs just fuck your shit up since you can't do anything.
>>1396649 been playing it for a bit and i'm pleasantly surprised, disappointed the gameplay is basically skyrim's even with the using skills levels them up mechanic but it's not awful tho I went with a magic build and reading the thread I think I picked the best choice. I thought enemies gaping my asshole was because I was an endurancelet and wearing shit armor but no it's just how the game is thank fuck I got my goons to take hits for me also spamming summons as they die to take care of difficult fights feels incredibly cheesy. still, they did an amazing job on the writing, atmosphere, loot and dungeon design I'll keep playing to bring back my bro Arthur and cover Avalon in the Wyrd once again >>1399606 the starting dungeon is absolute shit for a spell caster, I chose the healing magic path because I wanted to roleplay as a druid and blood transfusion doesn't heal or deal nearly enough damage to justify ever using it but it's the only spell you got so better toughen up fag almost made me consider rerolling to a melee character because I thought the whole game would be like that, thankfully I was wrong when I finally got the wolf summon it became much more tolerable
Respec'd out my shield/parry build into a 2h build. It feels like I went to playing on Ultra Hard Fuck You mode to Easy mode. I two or three shot most enemies, I'm incredibly tanky, I have a decent amount of leech, and I can pop leech potions to be invincible for 20 seconds (40 once I get a few more levels for double potion duration). I'll say it again: don't bother with parry. Get the +1 dash and dash cooldown talents and you'll do fine even in heavy armour. >>1403344 Blood Transfusion puts up a stacking dot, as long as you have mana you can keep stacking it. I used it to kill that one Duel Knight guy at the start of act 1, got to 40-50 bleed stacks on him before he died. Great spell.
>>1400733 >>1404315 Most people don't seem to realize that to parry you can't hold the button you have to just quickly press it at the right time. If you think you're parrying and you're actually blocking it means you're doing it wrong, because trying to parry and missing you will take full damage. (It could help to bind parry and block to different buttons if you have issues pressing it too long or something)

>>1267868 >Not another uninspired Dark Arthurian Fantasy Game If they want to ape Elder Scrolls so much they can consult Ken Rolston, Kirk McBride, and Ted Peterson and go on shroom sessions while brainstorming.
Finished the game. It's kinda meh, not even going to bother posting a full review. Worth a pirate if you're starving for some Elder Scrolls open world stuff. Main points of contention are: >zero loot variety, you find the same food/crafting mats in the tutorial and at the end game >bullet sponge bosses >lame as fuck and overall awful last boss >shit writing, including millennial writing and lolsorandumb humour, and woke shit like they and them >open world is barebones and boring to explore >caves, dungeons, and locations feel video game-y instead of real/believable places (should see how some of the forts are designed, it's painful to look at) >poor presentation and lack of polish are evident and immersion breaking in many cases
just beat the ranger that wanted me to kill arthur trying out different gear combos to beat him was fun. in the end I tried an evasive dual fireball mage and just burned his ass while dashing all over the place naked.
>>1407480 >shit writing, including millennial writing and lolsorandumb humour, and woke shit like they and them This sounds like bait, do you have any examples?
>>1428223 Can confirm, Horns of the South is filled with it The writing is pure reddit and It made me uninstall the game.
Seriously, hearing the Jailer say >Here in the jail we punish >Or at least we're meant to >I'm supposed to be intimidating >GRRR Completely killed any immersion I might have had in this world. 300 neurotic quirky side characters all at the same time just fucking killed it for me and it's a shame because outside the first Merchant you find (which has a lore reason for being quirky) the game took itself seriously. Should we write a meaningful well thought out character? No fuck that! Just make him autistic and completely out of place! It's ok, it's optional!
>>1428223 The writing is just of overall shit quality. One dimensional NPCs (hi, I'm a guard, here's my life story and a quest that goes along with it), flat side quests. I've read more interesting quests in MMOs. The lolrandom humour's best example is the quest where you get an explosive package in order to blow open a sealed tomb. Inside you find an undead cook who is obsessed with cheese. Completing the quest line gives you a spell that turns targets into cheese.
>>1436353 The issue isn't even the concept, you can do that silly stuff without shit writing that doesn't take itself seriously. Why can't these faggots just be genuine? Why does everything have to be sarcastic and quirky and shit, fucking hell.
