ARK Survival Evolved Anonymous 05/19/2025 (Mon) 00:45:13 Id: 3c32f2 No. 1376926
A thread for discussion of ARK survival evolved ark survival ascended, and other similar survival games.
For starters trikes. Trikes are a good tame. Decent hp. Fairly high DPS in numbers. Can make the saddle for cheap. Fast tame. Berry gatherer. Trikes are all around decent.
Raptors decent for hunting dodos, but you can't really expect them to brawl with therizino, or brontos.
The dodo isn't much for anything, but can make quick waste to be used in the garden, and the ladies drop health restoring nourishing eggs. Not a bad tame if you got thatch to spend. If times are more dire though you're better off with a phiomia.

>>1376926 I played the first ARK back when it was in early access. I dropped it after they added paid DLC when the game wasn't even done yet. I haven't kept up to date with them since then, but I did laugh at the AI trailer they made for Aquatica. >other similar survival games What are some note worthy dino survival games? Hell, just more dinosaur related games like Dino Crisis or Primal Carnage are good too.
>>1377218 Ecco the dolphin isn't dinosaur per say, but I found it to be fun, and in some ways similar to ARK Survival Evolved.
>>1377232 >Ecco the dolphin I never got around to trying that one. While looking it up, I saw an article talking about it getting a remaster. Nice to see the original devs getting a chance to work on their game again. <A new 'Ecco the Dolphin' game and remasters are on the way >"Me and the entire original team are going to remaster the original Ecco the Dolphin and Tides of Time games," Annunziata says. "Then we will make a new, third game with contemporary play and GPU sensibilities." >Annunziata tried to get a spiritual successor to Ecco funded on Kickstarter in 2013, but failed to raise enough money to get the project off the ground. He sued Sega for the rights to the original franchise that same year, and ultimately settled with the publisher in 2016, GamesBeat reports. The settlement might be why remasters and a new game can happen in the first place. https://archive.is/pocgu
>>1376926 This game is fucking terrible. I have like 600 hours in it.
(430.74 KB 882x326 Capture.PNG)

>>1377567 Agreed but it can be fun with friends who can no life the game I guess. Otherwise you'd just lose or play PVE/Singleplayer
>>1377648 I ended up playing with some friends on a server I spun up. I used the server manager to adjust a lot of the values so we didn't have to factory farm rexes to fight bosses. The game was terrible but together it was pretty fun. We did all the expansions except for the last. Ark was a game that always left me wanted more, such a cool concept and just janky execution.
>>1377245 I'm happy to be alive. Thanks for this.
>>1377567 I can't agree with the sentiment more.
>>1377218 Why can't I have a decent open ended Dino game? It's either autistic MMO garbage or good but old games like Dino Crisis. I just want FarCry 1 with dinos ffs
>survival games I really want to play Rust but I am so shit at shooting people.
>>1379348 Most pvp survival games are about who can trap the other man first. Not so much about good aim.
https://www.gamesradar.com/ark-survival-evolved-cheats/ Gaming news outlets must be running out of stuff to report if they resort to becoming cheatplanet spin off sites.
Turtles are truly the best.

>>1384404 I agree. >>1379688 (checked) I've seen quite a few out of touch execs and site owners pushing gaming sites towards being borderline AI article spam with just cheats and guides and similar shit.
The pelegornis is a must have tame in my opinion.
I wish the game had a visual upgrade so it looked actually good. Also death to all creatures that steal your shit.
>>1391521 Yeah. I always have to remind myself I could be playing dwarf fortress instead to remain grateful for how visually unappealing ARK is. Also I don't know about seagulls, but pegos are vulnerable to blunt force torpor.
Fishing is one off the easiest ways to aquire prime meat, and prime fish meat. Provided you have a rex to go leeching in the swamp for bait.
Dye is so easy to spend. Coloring doesn't last long if you want to have your tools, and all your structures decorated. Especially if you have temperary camps.
Not much better than having a surplus of biotoxin on hand after knocking out a theri, and berry taming.
>>1391521 >Also death to all creatures that steal your shit Yeah I always hated those lil bastards in any game they show up in. Doubly so if they can actually steal valuable shit instead of just trash items and minuscule amounts of cash.
I'm scared of the volcano.
>>1395696 Why what has you scared anon.
>>1395837 I need to make a fort near the volcano if I ever want a steady supply of bulk crystal, but the volcano is so far away from my home in red obelisk. Red obelisk is so safe and cozy. Volcano is dangerous, full of peril.
Speed is such a useful trait in ARK.
>>1377844 >Ark was a game that always left me wanted more Sorry i don't take ESL opinions seriously.
Bought it 2 years ago and it ran like shit on my rtx 3060 so I dropped it
Cooked fish meat is something I seem to always end up having a surplus of. It's one of the better health foods for avoiding overeating, but there's no way to elongate the shelf life of overstock outside of kibble, and Rockwell recipes.
On single player biotoxin is something that's rarely needed in large supply due to how low level dinos tend to be.
>>1397568 Even if you can run it on high settings it still looks like ass ARK did not age well visually, and it's a shame the second game will run even worse with only a small improvement in visuals
