PC Games of the last two decades (2010-2025) Anonymous 05/27/2025 (Tue) 13:07:28 Id: 81bb9f No. 1407713
Hey, you /v/iewtiful people, I've been extremely out of the loop for the past few years of PC gaming, but going back to some titles I had on my bucket list I realized that I barely had anything worthwhile to play, buy or pirate. I would really like to be reccommended some of the best or most unique PC games that have come out not just the last few years, but in general since the 2010s (about the time I stopped having a lot of time to play games that weren't portable or emulated stuff or "eternal games" a la TF2). More specifically, I'm asking about games that are first and foremost for the PC (so not ports of console games, unless there's a big reason think Sonic Adventure 1-2 with the modding scene), whether they're just indie games or big budget studios is irrelevant to me so long as they're good'uns. I tend to stray away from live service crap because I just hate FOMO, so I'd much rather appreciate it if the suggestions are titles that don't require a centralized infrastructure to run (unless someone reverse engineered it and custom servers are allowed).

>>1407713 >2010-2025 That's not two decades, it's a decade and a half.
Does it have to be PC exclusive? I have a few recommendations. Just some picks off the top of my head. >Dark Souls (series) Series of Action-RPGs that don't have action canceling and rely heavily on know what moves to use when. I'm sure you've heard of these. Elden Ring is also very similar. I like 2 the most but it's a sort of "red headed stepchild" of the series due to being made by a different director and having a troubled development, and some strange statting decisions with how derived stats work. >Octopath Traveler 2 The first game is pretty good, but the second one is an amazing sequel that improves on the original in almost every way, to a point I'd recommend playing it and only playing the original afterwards if you want more. JRPG with 8 characters with 8 separate stories that interlink at the end and tie into each other and the world as a whole. >Remnant Series. The remnant games(From the ashes, Remnant 2, Cronos) are pretty good. They're Third Person Shooters in a sci-fi/fantasy setting with some randomness to the campaigns. These aren't optimized too well though, Gunfire Games has never been good about that, so you'll need a newer PC for them. >Salt & Sanctuary Castlevania like game heavily inspired by the Souls series mentioned earlier. Very solid gameplay for a small title made by two people in their garage. The devs, Ska Studios, also made a lot of other good actions games they put on PC like Charlie Murder and Dishwasher:Vampire Smile. I can make a beefier list but I need to know if PC exclusive is a hard requirement and some more specific genres you're looking for, OP.
>>1407713 Buy or pirate X4 Foundations, and the DLC's. The game is what Star Citizen wishes it was, a finished game. You'll sink months into it playing it at first, like a standard space sim until you have a small fleet of ships or a few stations and then the game changes to an empire management sim. https://inv.nadeko.net/watch?v=FI-ys-3GDEQ&pp=0gcJCdgAo7VqN5tD
>>1407713 (OP) I'm dumb, somehow missed the "no console ports" in the OP. Okay, some more then. I feel like that's a stupid restriction and you'll miss out on several good games by doing that but very well. Dark Souls 1 was a console game before getting a PC port, rest of those first recs are either simultaneous releases or got console ports after the original PC release. A few more games. All of these are Indies and either are PC exclusive or came out on PC first. >Epic Battle Fantasy (Series) 5 is the best in this series and the one I recommend you play, but they all have some charm to them. The first three games were on Newgrounds before 3 got a standalone version, you might actually know the first two if you used that site at all. They're a series of comedy JRPGs with a very "old internet" humor to them and classic "four dudes in a row" gameplay. They're very well designed and quite fun in spite of the outward appearance. >Castle in the Clouds (and Midnight Castle Succubus) I don't know your stance on porn games, OP, but this game and Libra Heart's other works are really good SNES inspired games with the set dressing of being hentai games. This one in particular is one of the most fun castlevania-inspired games I've ever played. Even if you got rid of the smut it'd still be a phenomenal little experience. Midnight Castle Succubus is their other really good title and I heavily recommend that as well, since Midinight Castle Succubus was their castlevania and Castle in the Clouds was their C2: Simon's Quest, in a sense. Libra Heart's games also have a "SFW toggle" that removes most of the lewder designs and gets rid of the hentai CGs, if you just want the gameplay and can't tolerate the smut. >FAITH Atari style horror games following the trials of a priest as he goes around doing independent exorcisms. The dev got inspired to make these when he found an old Atari add-on that allowed the console to have voiced dialogue, though very rough and had very little games made for it. It's a trilogy of really solid horror games that actually manage to be quite spooky in spite of the limited graphics. >Fight Knight First person brawler where you fight your way to the top of a tower, punching the ever-loving shit out of everything in the way. Really fun game, though it's hard as balls with the default settings. You can turn down the speed to make the game easier, if you need to. Love the art style of the game being mostly solid colors with very detailed gradients and shading to make things stand out. Plus individual elements like characters or props each having distinct colors.
Thanks for the suggestions, anons. I am still looking for cool crap to play and have just got a few extra HDs to store it on. >>1408519 I don't think "the last fifteen years and counting" had the same bite to it
>>1411934 Do newfriend refugees know the Fight Knight dev did an AMA here?
I don't know of a better orc-murdering simulator.
>>1419478 Kill All Orcs
>>1418669 What the fuck do newfag cuckchanners know?
Any other good reccommendations?
>>1407713 i assume you played dwarf fortress so maybe you would like rim world or if you have the turbo autism: factorio.
>>1407713 Doom 2016 Portal 2 Minecraft I recommend specifically version Beta 1.7.3 or earlier
>>1490886 It's not groundbreaking, but Astalon is a good Metroidvania. A decent 15 hour game to clear over a weekend.
