Alright, I've been through all eight episodes and I chose the romance option voiced by Laura Bailey. To be fair, you do see her character's tits a lot in the game. Guess my dick chose that one.
Thoughts without that much in spoilers: I liked it. If I had a paycheck, I'd probably
buy it. I would still be hesitant on Season 2 but its team proved itself here so I guess we'll see. Choices somewhat mattered. It's less so of choosing immediately what happens and more so of building up points. Do enough good options, you'll get good. There are some parts where the choices really do matter, but they're kind of obvious. (Kissing Blonde Blazer, going to the movies or dinner between BB/Invisigal, etc) I don't consider the romance options real spoilers but the only spoiler is that you do have to choose a romance. One of the heroines is integral to the good ending. Which has my gripe. It won't feel like your choices had a lot of impact if you're coming out with like 4 mostly static endings. But there's enough setup, and probably budget, for them to matter more for season 2, because the last two episodes had a lot of choices that seem to setup for a second season.
Shroud was a good villain, there's a lot of discussion in the thread about him, but unfortunately he does drop the ball near the end, but it's not a matter of presentation.
I'm not gonna use the spoiler asterisks for entire spoiler section. Just certain words that might pop out. You have free will, faggot, just stop reading.
It does look that
Invisigal was a spy. It also seems like it was a matter of Shroud both
having the tech to predict everyone, and being good with tech. I guess
a spy isn't all that important when you can just
ask a computer what the chances of something happening. It's also a downgrade for him
to just have one fight, one hissy fit tantrum with Dad Mecha Man, before he breaks down and shoots his ass. Might also be that the comics weren't as directed as the actual game. The writing, especially around Robert, feels really good. There's a few points where I disagree with the plot, like
cutting sonar/coop or
being unable to point out that Invisigal was probably trying to slot in the Astral Pulse. I also thought that
Chase should've died, would've been more impactful, but that might be dependent on ending. I got the good ending with Invisigal, and I don't plan on replaying it, mainly because the gameplay part of the game sucks.
I don't know if the Dispatch part of Dispatch actually really affects anything other than if you really fuck up versus not fucking up. It's also really simple and there's a lot of interactions you'd think would be there, but aren't. Since the strengths of the game are it's writing and visuals, I'd hope the gameplay would be augmented more with that, but it is not. I don't have much more to point out on this because there really isn't much to point out. It's more akin to a kinetic visual novel, but that's to be expected with a game made by the Telltale devs.
