It's amazing how this game did everything right >Amazing dungeons >Good dungeon themes >Balanced difficulty. Neither too hard or too easy >Good story without being intrusive >0 filler in-between dungeons >Perfect amount of exploration Almost every 3d Zelda game that followed Ocarina has floundered one of these things in some way. Be it Majora's Mask's obnoxious filler and lack of meaningful content, Wind Waker's terrible filler and horrible piss easy dungeons, or twilight princess and skyward sword's atrocious filler and invasive stories. Can you even say the classic formula was overdone when no game outside of master quest actually bothered to improve or build upon it in a positive fashion? Seriously, I've replayed this game over twenty times not including master quest or randomizers and I've never gotten bored of it. Meanwhile, I try to replay Twilight Princess or Majora's Mask and I drop them whenever I'm faced with tedious filler.

>>1459589 >Amazing dungeons It's all fucking switch and block puzzles with the lightest drizzle of exploration. Pushing cubes and putting pots on switches is not what I would consider "amazing". >Good dungeon themes They're basic, tried and true element themed dungeons. Decent and no reason to break what work. >Balanced difficulty To a 8 year old kid, top. Piss easy for anyone over that. 95% of combat encounters are easily ignored and ran past or otherwise easily dispatched with any stun item. And the bosses are 2 whole ass patterns to learn top. >Good story without being intrusive Maybe if you ignore the mandatory 5 minute cutscenes. Otherwise, you're really stretching the definition of "good", as it is some extremely basic "go save princess while you fix extremely basic problems where you go". >0 Filler between dungeons Because the characters tell you where to go and what to do every time you finish anything and it's a point A to point B "adventure". >Perfect amount of exploration lol lmao even Anyway, influential game for its time, but very basic and extremely crude nowadays.
>>1459680 Disengenous. There's more than just block puzzles. A lot of the "puzzles" are figuring out how to progress. For example, using the arrows to undistort and then distort halls in the forest temple. Changing water levels in the water temple. Switching between link and adult link in the forest temple.

I was with you until the Majora besmirchment.
>>1459589 The child dungeons are good but some of the adult dungeons fucking suck. Forest has that copypasted ghost hunt sequence that takes up a chunk of its time, water has the constant menuing to swap boots plus its layout being tedious to navigate through and it being very easy to get stuck on and shadow just feels like bottom of the well part 2 minus the horror vibe of being a kid again in a scary location. The difficulty is non existant because holding R invalidates almost all sources of damage. You need to go out of your way to play recklessly. Not that it matters since alttp mogs every single 3D Zelda.
>>1459589 >I try to replay Twilight Princess or Majora's Mask and I drop them whenever I'm faced with tedious filler. I've given WW and TP multiple tries and there are so many baffling design choices. The art direction and music are both solid and memorable but they suffer from small annoyances here and there that slowly build up through the course of the game. Wind Waker's probably the worse offender because the ocean being a glorified loading screen where you can't even loop around the world nor sail freely without King going NOOO LINK YOU HAVE TO BEELINE TO [NEXT LOCATION] are unbelievably retarded oversights.

>>1459754 Rebuking about 10% of the argument and calling me disingenuous is... a statement, for sure. Let's go over that forest temple and its "puzzles". >Enter >climb slow wall to get small key >go through door and watch ghost cutscene >go through door, fight 2 enemies for a small key >go out, see cube with navi going "gee this sure look like the door of time", play song to remove cube >Go through room, climb wall to the right, mandatory fight vs a single flying skull for map >Go out and hookshot to then stand on a switch and drain well >Go through well for another small key >go back to start hub, go through door, go up 2 sets of ladders >See arrows on floor with navi going "There's arrows on the floor dipshit" and blocks to push >mandatory fight vs another 3 fucking skeletons >You then shoot paintings and kill blue and red ghosts very slowly because they're invisible and/or invincible 90% of the time >You shoot an eye switch to remove twist corridor and get chest >hand battle for key >go back, shoot eye open to twist and fuck the corridor >Fire torch with spinning platforms with timed shot to melt eye switch and twist another corridor >extremely easy mario party minigame with the ceiling falling with a switch to stand on >shoot ghost painting and then very simple block puzzle to make green ghost appear >Go out and then kill purple ghost with its befuddling clones (he spin right away so there's no actual thought process to find the right one) >Take elevator and then push wall block and stand on switch x 3 >Boss (Protip: shoot him when he come out of the paintings) So in total, we've had: 1 song cube 4 mandatory fights for small keys/items 2 step switches 3 block pushing"puzzles" with 2 of them having the solution painted on the wall/floor 1 mario party minigame ceiling with enough space and time to react about 5 years in advance. 4 eyes to shoot with effects that activate in the next or immediate room With all of these being A-B linear affairs so there's 0 chance to get lost or have to check around. You can't "figure out how to progress" because these are all linear corridors leading in the "puzzles" with the most obvious tells. Having to switch to child form is a mandatory obstacle and is, at best, busywork and padding. And it's not even used for the temple, it's only to get in the temple. A single obstacle in the form of a small child not letting you pass when you're adult. In conclusion: fuck your gay ass post and go put a bullet between your eyes. And this guy is right >>1459812 ALTTP mog every shit ass 3d zelda games
