For the record, I have no issue with the devs going one way or the other because I understand the pros/cons on both sides. I personally hate PVP, but still put in effort to be competitive at it. I don't have any issues with staying in top 50 this season (and top 10 last season).
The issue with making PVP uncompetitive and more accessible to casual players is that it alienates the people who actually put effort into understanding PVP nuance. Taking the time to look through your history, read through your previous battle(s) with the person you're about to attack, and plan your team accordingly with a counter comp should feel rewarding (assuming they didn't change defenses). When the devs decide to turn this into something that is just a 50/50 coin flip, the gamemode becomes more of a mindless slot machine that you are obligated to pull every day. There honestly would be no reason to have a battle history or to have the option to view the battle anymore if they make it pointless to try understand what went right, what went wrong, and where you can improve. Refreshing would somehow be even more pointless than it already is and probably a bigger bait than the second ligma shop because you wouldn't even able to guarantee a skillfull outcome. You're just banging your head against the wall until the coin flips in your favor.
On the flip side, I would argue that the vast majority of the playerbase are casual players who hate PVP. PVP systems in non-PVP-focused games are almost always unpopular and usually only attract an extremely small population of players relative to game population. This is a gacha game at the end of the day and flattening the skill curve would be beneficial for most players. If the devs do fully intend to shift towards this eventually, it would probably take some time for the competitive players to shift their mentality towards PVP.
Personally, I think the biggest issue with PVP is placing non-negligible rewards behind the rankings. People will generally tell you that it doesn't matter, it's only 5/10/15 pyros, it's only 10/20/25 coins, etc. But in a bonsaige, time is your best friend and these rewards do at up over time. There's an even bigger incentive with hitting your seasonal first time rewards, too. Would anyone honestly find it enjoyable that your rewards are locked behind a coinflip because they're minimizing the impact of investment and skill? Maybe if you're someone who never cared about PVP and suddenly find yourself in higher ranks than usual from coinflips.
If the devs want to make the gamemode uncompetitive, I would prefer they go all the way and make everything about it, including rewards, participation only (like how GA is structured).

It's placebo. Both my Kuroko and S.Hanako are UE50 25-25-25 maxed with decent bond. They both still job to the enemy.

Here's my team for floor 100. S.Ui only needs 4* for floor 100 and is fine as 3* for floor 99. Either way, you need an invested I.Mari to protect S.Ui with the overheal shield from the missile strikes. Otherwise, she blows up.
