Today I want to talk about Utaha's hair. Utaha has light purple hair that goes down to her calves. Her hair is naturally straight and wavy with very different bangs for her various outfits. For example, her normal bangs are shaggy, implying she works hard as an engineer to the point that she gets sweaty- this is confirmed with her memolobby having her wipe her brow of sweat. Her center bangs, meanwhile, are short enough that she doesn't have to worry about being unable to see what she's doing, which makes sense for her likely meticulous attention to detail as a meister. This is likely also why her hairclip is so far down- she wants to be stylish, but she's not going to let her hair get into a machine and cause any incidents. Also, her hairclip looks similar, but not exactly like, her halo's sides.
Her cheerleading outfit shows off her hair in a better light, as it's no longer as shaggy as her base outfit. It also shows that Utaha's hair isn't exactly symmetrical, with her left bang being more neat than her right. Granted, this also more clearly shows how her hair parts, so this likely doesn't mean much. Utaha also ties her hair up, but this time it's with a blue ribbon in a conventional ponytail. She also wears a hairband, likely to both make it very clear who she represents in case the armband and general blue colors didn't show this, while also helping keep her eyes free of sweat so she can properly cheer on athletes with a commanding presence. Finally, Utaha's kimono outfit is traditional, which is a 180 from her normal look. She wears it well. Her hair is properly cleaned this time due to her performing in front of so many students, and she also ties her hair up into what seems to be a braided hairbun, efficiently stowing away her hair and allowing the outfit to be the point of interest. She wears a floral hairpin, with multiple flowers that help further synergize with her outfit.
Utaha's hair product, if her design's personality is anything to go off of, has a nostalgic smell to it, further exemplifying the level of seniority she has with the Engineering club along with her history with Chihiro.
For completeness sake:
Rai-chan is Utaha's faithful companion robot, and is bald. As expected for most robots. However, Rai-chan gets dressed up for the occasion Utaha's visiting. It's a very stylish robot.
