PC, Console, and Gamepad Customization Thread Anonymous 07/14/2025 (Mon) 21:55:23 Id: c7dfca No. 1562834
I haven't seen a thread that talks about customizing PC, consoles and controllers for a while. Anything related to custom painting, shell swapping, or modding the hardware. Have any of you anons made these sort of things?

I don't like modding or customizing my hardware. Tend to keep it as vanilla and mint as possible, minus usual wear and tear. The only time I modded one of my consoles to install a flip-top lid on the Playstation 2 so that I can run Japanese imports using the disk-swap trick. Lot of people at that time were just brute-forcing the disk-tray open, which always just seemed to me to be a good way to fuck up the gearing.
>>1562834 Any way to make a dualsense less "mushy"?
>>1563933 eXtremeRate sells some clicky micro-switches kit for the face buttons and the d-pad, including ones for the bumpers as well. They also sell some programmable back buttons for those who don't want to spend a lot of money on the DualSense Edge.
>>1563979 Interesting mod, but I'm looking for something more like "vanilla xbox" feeling, just a less mushy membrane. Thanks anyway. >also Any mod to make a more confortable d'pad?
>>1564074 I don't know what kind of "comfort" you want, is there something wrong with the stock dpad on your end?
>>1564141 Making the buttons "higher" to not touch the controller's shell with my thumb while I changing directions or making diagonals, more like like ps4 or ps3. If there are anything to change the dpad's shape it would be interesting to see.
Does anyone actually have a customized PC tower/case? They always look absolutely ridiculous, even moreso than typical commercially-built PC cases. Personally I've always loved the idea of building a micro/compact PC but I know that sort of limits you in terms of parts and also airflow.
>>1564196 I don't know any info on how to fix your problem, sorry anon. >>1565679 Is there a good PC case that doesn't look like a fishtank? I've grown tired of transparent cases that are there for the sake of showing off RGB shit.
>>1565724 Shop around Fractal Design and Silverstone. They have some good cases that may be what you're looking for, though FD is a little minimalist with most of their cases just looking like black monoliths.
I got the FlippyDrive for my Gamecube and also a transparent purple shell. I like them both Plastic on the shell is a bit shoddy and tends to scratch a lot very easily when being carried place to place but it looks good otherwise

I have to shill the Pinecil here: https://pine64.com/product/pinecil-smart-mini-portable-soldering-iron/ It's a 26$ soldering iron that's in fact an entire soldering station, basically a more recent variant of the TS100. It's powered by a RISC-V board and open-source firmware, so you can hack around with it. The tip heats up in a matter of seconds, it's compact, powered by USB-C and overall I have nothing to complain about. I have done quite a bit of soldering with mine. You should buy the extra set of tips because the pointy tip that comes with the Pinecil is shit. There is nothing wrong with the tip itself, it's just that all pointy tips are shit by design. You need a tip which will have enough contact surface to transfer heat reliably.
>>1566023 >FlippyDrive How's is it compared to the GCLoader? I got the latter before the announcement of the FlippyDrive.
>>1566203 I dunno about the GCLoader, I previously just used the swiss memory card trick for Wind Waker / Melee.
Do exist any piece of hardware for upscaling console video output (like Lossless Scaling), or for applying antialiasing? Preferably for 480p consoles and PS3.
