Today I want to talk about Hibiki's hair. Hibiki has short and wavy black hair- if it wasn't tied up, it would likely go down to the middle of her back. Her hair is done in two ponytails, with her tying them together with a hairband that has an orange and purple ball, matching with the rest of her outfit. It's possible that she wears orange and purple as a nod to her fellow engineers, while black is her defining color. Her hair does something similar to what her dog ears do in turning more gray near the end, making it look like she's had something blow up in her face, but that's simply how her hair is colored. Hibiki also wouldn't let an explosion mess with her style- she cares about her hair quite a lot, in fact. A good part of Millennium has shaggy hair, and her fellow engineers aren't an exception- Utaha's front is shaggy from working hard and sweating, while Kotori's is naturally curly. If anything, her hair manages to shine a bit despite being an engineer, a true testiment to her being on top of hher design. It could be that her major color being black is meant to symbolize oils, but this seems like a stretch- Kotori's yellow could symbolize safety equipment (and her long-winded diatribes the instructions for proper use), but then how does purple fit in with engineering items? I digress. Either way, Hibiki is very fashionable- even her Meister's Goggles are somewhat fashionable, as they provide a break in her hair and add in more complexity, along with indirectly pointing at her hairties. Something really unfortunate is that there seems to be no sprite of her wearing these goggles, I'd love to see that.
Hibiki has many cosplays that she could wear, and her cheerleader outfit is one of them. Her hair is mostly the same, except she's tied her two ponytails into one, with a hairband that's not going to distract from her cheering. Even when she's working out more than she normally does, her hair manages to remain smooth and wavy, which is quite impressive. I personally like her bracelets as well as general hand positioning. She wants to cheer, but is embarrassed about her panties being shown to the world, yet her tail naturally forces her back up- she hides it for our PoV, but behind her is a perfect view. I'm somewhat disappointed that there's no bandages at her ankles, because that would be a really good touch since she'll likely blister with those shoes before the day is done. Maybe they're just very comfy?
Hibiki's hair has very good care taken into it, and this is very apparent in how it shines under light, making her a rare exception to Millennium's norms. The surprising thing is that she doesn't like makeup accessories- she's subtly very nerdy, which is very cute. Despite her hair's care being obvious, she doesn't strike me as a student who'd have a particularly iconic scent to her. Even so, I can't help but determine her hair having floral notes, probably due to her cosplay targets having said flowery scents for their hair.
