In HRtP all tiles throwing revenge bullets forced me to completely redo my usual strategies, same with SoEW, PoDD was just pure insanity on lunatic and LLS higher density of bullets was also definitely noticeable. I think the jump in difficulty is not as noticeable here because the game was already hella hard, there is like 2 types of enemies that didn't shoot before that now shoot, bullets are denser and... that's about it. No revenge bullets at all just insane intensity and speed of them which was already partially true on hard.

That isn't to say I haven't enjoyed most of the games stories, but I wouldn't call any of them above serviceable. What ZUN brings to the table is the setting and characters. (Music being another one, but that's not related to my point). That's how Touhou is truly meant to be experienced in my eyes, as a setting to tell your own stories in and to explore the characters, their interactions and possible pasts and futures. In that way it's very much like Star Wars back when the extended universe books were popular with hardcore fans, or so I assume from hearsay since I wasn't into them myself. Official Manga has been very revealing to ZUNs skills as a writer as the best one of them still is just the three fairies of light doing funny things.
