Today I want to talk about Mina's hair. Yesterday was Pina, today is Mina. Mina is the one who wears shades all the time and really, I'm surprised nobody's made her glow in the dark yet because she looks like a fed. However, someone like Mina is too cool to simply glow in the dark. She IS the dark. But monologue aside, Mina has stone gray hair that, because of her coat and being tied up in a braid at all times, it's almost impossible to tell just how long her hair really is. Even in bed, her hair is still somewhat tied up! The best that was given is in a 4koma, which does help show how cool she is, having multiple sides to her, something others wouldn't understand. Her back has a ponytail that likely goes down to her hips, so she may never look behind at her long and storied past. Her sides show she lives in two worlds- the side which Black Dragon lurks, and the side which White Tiger prowls. Her white side is where she holds onto important items, allowing her to quickly strike like a tiger at those who encroach! Her black side is shown to the world, always ready to reveal its true fury to those who would harm Shanhaijing! And her hair is no different- the dragon's hair is a thin, braided ring with the ponytail- long, scaly, tied with a hairpin. Obvious, and sends a message. Her tiger's hair has her eye hidden, only showing one eye- what could the eye of the tiger have? It doesn't matter, for only fools learn the truth! Her tiger's hair is thicker as a whole, contrasting the dragon being thin and long- it very much suits her. Her hair is flowing, elegant, but it is the picture that is worth a thousand words when it comes to Mina's appearance.
Mina's hair definitely seems like she'd be the type to make her hair smell like the rain, even when it's a cloudless, sunny day. Because the rain is cool and fits her appearance. Perhaps this is intentional, and Genryumon resembles water in Wuxing. The Promenade is likely Fire in this analogy, meant to keep the two opposites in check. Perhaps, then, the Alchemy Society is metal, and the Plum Blossom Garden is Wood, making the Peking Opera Club Earth? There are many ways to interpret the five elements- however, just because Genryumon and the Promenade are typically at odds with one another, doesn't mean that they don't cooperate. All is in harmony within Shanhaijing because of this unique balance. But this is definitely getting sidetracked. Mina's hair has a mature scent to it, trying to be cool more than anything. Not too dissimilar from Chamomile, I'd say.
