Today I want to talk about Kaguya's hair. Kaguya has sleek black hair that, if it were untied, would likely go down between her shoulders and chest. She's also one of several students who has her hair split into an inner and outer part, though this is likely only what is seen, and that's the hair near her nech being a vibrant periwinkle. She has an asymmetric beauty to her hair, with her left side- the one that she holds an item with- having light blue jasmine accessories in her hair, but the leaves nearby make her hair look like a branch- if that is the intent, then these are actually plum blossoms. Her hairbun has a similar accessory, but this time, instead of flowers, it appears to be closer to clover, yet that doesn't seem correct. I can't put my finger on what it should be, though, but if it actually is clover, then that would mean that her hair has been made to represent a floral pattern, like that which is seen on her qipao. If that were the case, then the hairbun accessories are likely meant to be budding flowers, but more interestingly, that means her floral parts of her outfit are all connected, as their ends all point to one another, like a big branch. Her hairbun has a smaller red ball, which is kept in place with what looks to be two pearls, the small one pointing up, holding this ball, while the larger one connects it to an accessory that resembles the ribbon-like object on her right side of her qipao. It seems to be a lanyard of some kind going by the shading, but I will admit that I'm not entirely sure what it is- it's very nice to look at, though, and it also provides a balance to her attire. Said lanyard seems to be bound near the top with a blue that isn't quite periwinkle, as it's more blue than that, yet is still quite rich.
Her right side of her hair is a lot simpler, but manages to be just as full as her other side- fullness in simplicity. This is because her hair parts on her left side, and she takes advantage of that by having right-side bangs, which covers her in a way to add a mystique to her character. She also has her hair's left side put under her mask, while her right side goes over it. I can definitely see her using this to theatric effect- if her left side is facing the audience, you have a softer, refined character. But if you have her right side facing the audience, you instead have a fierce warrior, or someone struggling with the situation. This is where her hair having a part so there's a symmetry in the middle really shows itself off, because if she instead faces directly to the audience, you have a character in conflict, and can have a soliloquy where she moves left or right to indicate which part of the character is talking.
Her outfit's flowers are also worth talking about, as it's entirely possible that, if her hair accessories on her hairbun are instead bamboo flowers, then that would mean her outfit has the Four Gentlemen on it- plum blossoms in her hair, orchids blooming on her qipao, bamboo also flowering in her hair, and chysanthemum in full bloom on her qipao. It could also be argued that, because the bottommost flower is likely a lotus, the flower above that is also a lotus instead, but I believe that Kaguya wouldn't make such a mistake. Also because if it IS the Four Gnetlemen, then that would mean her outfit itself is a representation of traditional Chinese values, which, with Kaguya, she definitely is the student who would know this.
Kaguya is, to be honest, a very beautiful student. She is perfectly asymmetrical while being symmetrical, and has a full black on her exterior, but a very rich blue wherever you look closely, culminating in her peking opera club's jacket having a navy color to it. Speaking of, her emblem being visible on her right side, while her mask is held with her left hand, as well as her lanyards being on both sides with different altitudes, helps reinforce her asymmetrical symmetry.
Kaguya's hair feels like it would work to incorporate the Flowers of the Four Seasons with it- orchids, lotus, chrysanthemum and plum blossoms. That, or her hair's more subtle, still clean, but a complex bouquet that can't exactly be determined, further adding to her mystique.
