Today I want to talk about Sumomo and her hair. Sumomo's hair is a curly two-tone, with a white exterior and a sky blue interior, giving her an almost dreamlike appearance. Her hair goes down to her thighs, and she could probably fit right at home with the rest of the fluffy-haired cast. The specific name for her hairstyle is, to my knowledge, a half-up twintail, with an attached ahoge, which is a hairstyle I personally enjoy.
Her horns are placed relatively low compared to most other horned students, being closer to her ears, yet goes up and curves. The same blue as her hair is here, too, with a black base. She wears her outfit haphazardly, and always seems to be tired... Perhaps she's the type who doesn't get much good sleep? The actual clothes she wears has an odd look to them. There's no visible seam on her front, which implies that she has a zipper on the back, or some other mechanism to enter and leave her clothes. Also, her tie is different from the rest of GSC, in that her longer half is on the left, as opposed to others who put it on the right.
Assuming that every member of the GSC has their halo made to represent a celestial or astronomical phenomenon, Sumomo's halo feels a lot like a stable, guiding light. It might not always be visible, but when it is, then relying on it can help wayward souls find their way, like Polaris.
Thinking on it, is it possible that the seven members of the GSC represent the Seven Deadly Sins? Perhaps not, but if that were true, then Sumomo would certainly represent Sloth. It is possible, though, that since Sumomo holds a ledger in her sprite, she could represent the virtue Patience, in the fact she has likely pulled many an all-nighter and seems to have it as well together as other GSC members. It's likely that this double-edged meaning is intentional, and might even be meant to represent Tarot cards; a reversed Sumomo is slothful, but upright, she is patient and perserveres like the tortoise against the hare.
Sumomo's hair smells like coffee. She tries to take care of it, but she doesn't have much time at all to do so, resulting in her hair appearing messy. If she can't get time to unwind and catch up on rest, how is she supposed to find the time to groom her hair? Despite the poorer cleanliness, the smell of coffee does give her a comforting, reliable presence.
That does not mean I would not brush her hair, though. It would be laborious, sure, but assuming that Sumomo can find some time to do less involved tasks, or assist at Schale, then it can definitely be done. The initial brushing of her hair would certainly be the hardest, seeing how it's likely innately curly, meaning there's a good amount of knots in her hair, so it would be a slow and delicate process. Afterwards, though, it would then be an even longer hair washing, slowly going through every square inch of hair, making sure that it's all properly cleaned. It would likely be this that would cause her shoulders to begin to loosen up a bit, since she doesn't have much to do physically other than sit and (hopefully) enjoy it. Realistically, if this was done during the lunch hour, then it would be over by now. However, it would be very irresponsible for me to send Sumomo off with wet hair! So I would help dry it off with her quickly, and hopefully only have us be 15 minutes late to any commitments we had that day.
