Nintendo of America president and COO Doug Bowser to retire; succeeded by Devon Pritchard Anonymous 09/25/2025 (Thu) 22:19:24 Id: f06bb3 No. 1789134
EDIT Apperently she's not in charge. Shibata is. They literally brought back a position that hasn't existed since Iwata just so this woman wouldn't be in charge. Nintendo of America Inc. (NOA) today announced that Doug Bowser will retire as President and Chief Operating Officer on December 31, 2025, after more than a decade in multiple leadership positions. He will be succeeded by Devon Pritchard, a 19-year veteran of the video game industry and long-standing member of the NOA leadership team. In addition, Satoru Shibata will join NOA as Chief Executive Officer, while continuing his roles as Managing Executive Officer and Corporate Director, Member of the Board at Nintendo Co., Ltd. (NCL). Pritchard will also join the NOA Board of Directors and become an NCL Executive Officer. https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20250925384737/en/Doug-Bowser-Bids-Farewell-to-the-Mushroom-Kingdom

Had to do a double take cause I thought it said Randy Pitchford was taking over Nintendo of America
>>1789158 That would be hilarious
>>1789158 kek same here, I almost shat my pants
>long-standing member of the NOA leadership team I wouldn't call 2021 "long-standing"

>>1789134 I thought fucking Randy was taking over.
>>1789228 I'll be honest, I stole it from the press release.

Might as well post info for Satoru Shibata https://www.insidentity.com/director/satoru-shibata/ >In 2000, Shibata was appointed as the President of Nintendo of Europe, where he became responsible for guiding the company’s operations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. During his tenure, Shibata played a pivotal role in strengthening Nintendo’s presence in the region and overseeing the successful launches of several key products, including the Nintendo DS, Wii, and Nintendo Switch consoles. >Shibata was also known for his engaging and personable presence in Nintendo Direct presentations, where he often appeared to deliver updates and announcements to fans in Europe and around the world. His appearances helped to establish a direct line of communication between Nintendo and its fanbase, fostering a sense of community and excitement within the gaming community. >After two decades of service, Shibata stepped down from his role as President of Nintendo of Europe in 2020. >Throughout his career, Satoru Shibata made significant contributions to Nintendo’s global success, particularly in Europe, by demonstrating strong leadership, strategic vision, and a deep commitment to delivering innovative and enjoyable gaming experiences to players worldwide.
>>1789238 Is he the primary decision maker or is Pritchard? I'm kinda confused.
Huh, Bowser was barely there. He was appointed this decade. I know a lot of anons will jump "WOMAN" but a lot of NoA's worst greed has come about under Bowser's leadership, so anybody is an improvement. I wonder why this happened? He wasn't there for long, there's probably some kind of shake up or Nintendo HQ weren't happy with him.
>>1789260 Pritchard (President) runs Nintendo of America day-to-day. Shibata (CEO) looks after the whole company from above.
(35.21 KB 500x600 furukawa.jpg)

>>1789279 Forgot to add >But they both still answer to Furukawa cause he's the big cheese of the main Nintendo company in Japan.
>>1789238 >After two decades of service, Shibata stepped down from his role as President of Nintendo of Europe in 2020. Who wouldn't want to get the hell out of dodge with current year EU? >>1789268 >I know a lot of anons will jump "WOMAN" but a lot of NoA's worst greed has come about under Bowser's leadership, so anybody is an improvement Anon gonna monkey paw Nintendo into an even worse state.
>>1789268 >or Nintendo HQ weren't happy with him Could you blame them? The Switch 2 may be selling well but its NA launch has been an absolute mess with constant negative coverage. Note how they got a marketing gal to replace him.
LMAO I won't miss that giga-(((kike))) niggerfaggot. He's a fuckin' pussy that can't even cook a half-zinger to everyone who sees right through his bullshit. Picrel, I wear that shit as a fucking badge of honor for how much of a gigafaggot (((kike))) he is after I rightfully called him out on his horseshit. Needless to say, I won't fucking miss him and I hope he fucking ruins Sony next. Or even a non-gaming company. >>1789287 Can this turbo(((kike))) be next please? He's a Pokefaggot former EUkike bean-counter.
>so long, gay Bowser This is great! >woman running NoA instead This is terrible!
>>1789535 Actually, Satoru Shibata will be running NoA. Devon Pritchard is just a w*man that will not have much power over anything, if at all, with Shibata actually being in charge of actual decisions.
So long, gay Bowser!
>>1789419 What did you say that pissed him off?
>>1790033 Generally calling him "EAfag" and whatnot. Apparently, that caused him to presumably sperg out enough to block me, lmao.
(497.77 KB 320x240 KILLER FISH.mp4)

>>1790312 I'm not sure you can make a post like >>1789419 and accuse anybody else of spergery.
>>1790596 Its pretty tame by imageboard standards. All he did was repeatedly call him a kike niggerfaggot, which he basically was.
>>1789134 so long gay bowser
(78.97 KB 282x280 t shirt.png)

>>1790744 >act retarded to someone else >they block you in response <GOLLY GEE AIN'T THEM NIGGAKIKAS!?!?
>>1789134 Insane to me that a guy literally named Bowser had zero cultural effect on the way the company is viewed aside for the horrible localization (which technically isn't even a top down decision). Reggie and Iwata truly were built different.
>>1791421 The localisation was already controversial. The fire emblem fates was still under Reggie.
>>1791421 An ongoing issue with Nintendo is that their business side is becoming increasingly more disconnected not just with Nintendo's audience but with games as a form of entertainment. It's not a coincidence that the iconic people in the company atm are the likes of Miyamoto and Sakurai, their suits exist in a world of their own. Iwata was a dev first and had plenty of experience from working on projects himself, even stepping down to help the likes of Itoi and Gamefreak. Reggie interacted with fans often despite not playing games much, making the big brain play of telling Nintendo to release Wii Sports alongside the Wii. Even Yamauchi didn't played games but he still grasped entertainment through other products like toys and playing cards, rebranding the Famicom in the US so it would dodge the post-crash stigma. These people earned their status within the company, they are worth remembering. Nowadays you get dystopian ass decisions like premium cardboard (labo), premium plastic (Virtual boy rerelease) and a paid Switch 2 manual, and it's not like their game division is doing badly. The disconnect between the suits and the devs is rather obvious.
>>1791823 To add to that: >>1789134 >Devon Pritchard, a 19-year veteran of the video game industry and long-standing member of the NOA leadership team They imply it was all with making Video Games, but her work was as General Counsel: leading lawsuits. Then went into sales/marketing When people said "Nintendo was always litigious", well they just put their former Chief Attorney and corpo slut into power.
>>1789134 NinTROONdo
>>1791823 Iwata and Reggie were great (the former much more so than the latter), but they still made mistakes like overpricing the 3DS, allowing Treehouse to fuck shit up, and everything involving the Wii U (though iirc Iwata took a huge paycut during that time as penance when he could easily have let his employees take the fall) I didn't know Reggie was behind the idea of bundling Wii sports with the Wii, that was a genius idea honestly.
(103.50 KB 640x887 76087_front.jpg)

>>1791608 >The fire emblem fates was still under Reggie. Reggie also didn't think Disaster Day of Crisis wasn't worth bringing over to the US cause he didn't like it and he didn't believe it was worth the $50.
>>1792360 >Iwata took a huge paycut during that time as penance Isn't this actually a common thing in Japan?
>>1792421 Nah, it's way more common to have a scapegoat employee take all the blame on his shoulders as "responsibility" and get fucked for the higher ups. The only other noteworthy person in the games industry I've heard do similar was Hidetaka Miyazaki, another man worthy of respect.
(105.04 KB 1021x1024 Harmony Brain Damage.jpg)

>>1791095 >>1790744 is right. That's pretty fucking tame, all things considered. Also calling Doug out for being the faggot gigakike he is was the right thing to do. Are you retarded?
>>1792421 Looks like it. How Japanese CEOs Continue To Lead With Empathy And Sacrifice https://archive.ph/jk8bG >When Akagi Nyugyo, a popular ice cream manufacturer in Japan, decided to raise the price of their famous "Garigari-kun" popsicle for the first time in 25 years in 2016, they took an unconventional approach to breaking the news to their customers. >Recognizing the impact of their decision, the company issued a televised apology, underscoring their reluctance to increase prices and highlighting their commitment to quality and affordability. >This gesture of transparency and humility resonated deeply with consumers, reinforcing trust and loyalty in the brand. >And the most unbelievable part of it all? The price increase was only 10 yen - approximately 7 cents. Earlier this month a new apology appeared on their website to accompany the newest 7 cent hike. This time, the entire staff is photographed in an apologetic bow, with a tongue-in-cheek section of pictures of pictures with even deeper bows for future use taken now for efficiency reasons. >... >Similarly, in 2007, Haruka Nishimatsu, former CEO of Japan Airlines opted to reduce his salary by 60% in response to the company's financial struggles in order to avoid layoffs. Japan Airlines CEO Takes 30% Pay Cut Over Drinking Pilot Scandal… Again! https://archive.ph/Gldm8 >Senior executives at Japan Airlines are going to have their pay docked in the short term, following yet another incident of a pilot having drank too much prior to operating a flight. Specifically, CEO Mitsuko Tottori will have her pay cut by 30% for a period of two months. Furthermore, the company’s safety manager, Yukio Nakagawa, will receive a 20% pay cut for one month, while all other directors will receive a 10% pay cut for one month. >This isn’t the first time that Japan Airlines executives have had their pay docked over pilots drinking inappropriately. Earlier this year, we saw exactly the same punishment over a previous incident. And that wasn’t even the first time this system was used for punishment. >Of course this level of accountability all very much reflects Japanese business culture, and of senior leaders taking responsibility when things go wrong. Optics also matter. It reminds me of how in 2009, when Japan Airlines was losing money, the CEO would take the bus to work, and would have lunch in the employee cafeteria with everyone else. Panasonic CEO’s pay cut signals accountability amid global layoffs https://archive.ph/vDDEW >It’s rare for CEOs in corporates to take a pay cut amidst restructuring plans. But rarity and corporate Japan are synonymous when it comes to bold steps. Panasonic Holdings Corp. CEO Yuki Kusumi has taken a 40% pay cut, reducing his total compensation from ¥259 million ($1.79 million) as the company moves forward with a robust restructuring plan. The announcement comes alongside Panasonic job cuts in 2025, as the tech giant slashes 10,000 jobs worldwide. This marks a 4% of its 230,000-strong workforce. The question remains if Panasonic layoffs would lead to a boost in profitability in the long run. Miyamoto also cut his pay by 30%, it wasn't Iwata alone doing it.
>>1792360 I didn't intend to imply that they were flawless people but if Nintendo had a "wall of good will", you could definitively put them up there. There was a time when "It's okay when Nintendo does it" was a reality because, despite their dogshit business practices, they still managed to maintain a positive enough image to keep their fans happy. When Microsoft or Sony fucked their fans it was out of malice, when Nintendo did it, it was an accident because honorabru Nippon company (please understand!). When Mother 3 wasn't localized it was the west's fault for not being ready for it. Surely, the company that saved the industry (in the US) and check out my Top 10 where I put Mario 64 in first place wouldn't be just as rotten as those FILTHY competitors. Anyways, I've noticed a shift ever since Kimishima stepped down. The new breed of suits are slowly destroying the company's image and the Nintendo fans are caught up in this jarring juxtaposition between a developer side that's still putting out good games and doing their thing and a business side pushing for shitty apps, premium cardboard, you will own nothing crap, copyright/patent fuckery, etc.
>>1792430 >Hidetaka Miyazaki >worthy of respect Was it him or someone else in the company that lied about Armored Core not being affected by Dark Souls? >>1792588 >The new breed of suits are slowly destroying the company's image True heroes. >copyright/patent fuckery That really shouldn't be counted as just their thing since they've always had that in their arsenal.
>>1792379 >and he didn't believe it was worth the $50. And he was right, that game is worth maybe $10 i myself wouldn't ever touch it if i couldn't pirate it.
>>1792482 CEO salaries mean nothing, it's just a gesture for show. CEOs and other C-suite executives have different forms of compensation. Steve Jobs famously had a symbolic annual salary of 1$. I'm pretty sure he wasn't working at the company just for fun.
>>1789134 She has such sights to show us.
>>1793533 Depends on the CEO and the country's way of handling business, but you do bring up a good point. Bobby Kotick was making hundreds of millions off Actiblizz but his salary ended up getting pretty low at times.
>>1789134 How are you guys not talking about this more? Devon is an IP LAWYER. She's behind the Quintal, Cyber Shopping LTD, LoveROMs, and Xecuter lawsuits. Also, she might have a Twitch streamer tranny son.
>>1797351 >they put a fucking IP lawyer in charge of NoA What is wrong with Nintendo as of late? It's like they're trying to make the worst decisions possible.
>>1797434 High on their own power after the Switch followed by the Switch 2's success.
>>1797434 >It's like they're trying to make the worst decisions possible My theory is that another video game company is using their yakuza connections to threaten Nintendo into committing self-sabotage. I haven't figured out which one it is yet.
>>1798123 >another video game company is using their yakuza connections to threaten Nintendo into committing self-sabotage. That only leaves Sega and maybe Konami
>>1798200 Konami has loved nintendo for over a decade now and even had to run to ask for help due to the bullshit cygames lawsuit So that leaves only sega.
>>1798123 I don't think the Yakuza would affect American branch decisions.
(346.47 KB 1360x565 NoA to Microsoft HQ.jpg)

>>1798314 Perhaps not But NoA & Microsoft are close to each other
>EA lead bad. >Gets replaced. >People still whine despite the one holding the leash is a japanese man and the dog on the leash is quite possibly the only decently competent foid in the entire western vidya industry. At this point it's more than clear people just want to whine about nintendo all things considered.
>>1798348 Gay bowser is bad, roastie is bad too not sure what else can i tell you
>>1797351 >Also, she might have a Twitch streamer tranny son. You can't just say this shit and leave it on a cliff hanger
So long
>>1797351 >She's behind the Quintal, Cyber Shopping LTD, LoveROMs, and Xecuter lawsuits.
>>1801384 For Quintal Nintendo triumphs in handheld patent suit https://archive.ph/UPfZe >"The result in this case continues to prove that Nintendo will vigorously defend its innovations against patent lawsuits and will not pay to settle cases simply to avoid litigation," said Devon Pritchard, Nintendo of America's General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Business Affairs, in a statement. For Go Cyber Shopping Nintendo Wins Copyright Case Against Seller of Circumvention Devices https://archive.ph/pWQ3j >“Nintendo continues to be a leader in bringing innovative gaming platforms and software to our fans and millions of gamers across the globe. Nintendo has an established track record that demonstrates our resolve to protect our iconic characters and franchises. We will continue to protect the creative works of our developers and vigorously enforce our intellectual property rights against those that attempt to steal or misuse them.” No comment of hers was found on LoveROMs or Xecuter/Gary Bowser
>>1797351 Because she's not in charge. Shibata is. They literally brought back a position that hasn't existed since Iwata just so this woman wouldn't be in charge.
Oh that was quick. Nintendo CEO speedrun any%
I don't know a single thing Bowser did in his short reign. It started as >Here's the guy replacing Reggie and his name is Bowser like the character in our famous IP" >*radio silence* >Bowser will be leaving the company What does this mean now though, I doubt things will just magically get better.
>>1803278 Most executive decisions including creative and monetization are under the Japanese branch. You should never expect much when NoA or NoE get a shakeup.
>>1803700 >Most executive decisions including creative and monetization are under the Japanese branch. Except for all those articles detailing how Treehouse has been directly involved with the development of games sine Xenoblade 2. >You should never expect much when NoA or NoE get a shakeup. Except for the fact that the two biggest markets for video games on the planet in terms of spending are America and West Taiwan.
>>1803278 I wonder how much of his career growth was just because of nepotism his le funny name. Maybe Dovakin should join Bethesda studios and become the new Senior Vice President of Global Marketing & Communications, basically what Pete Hines was, or in other words a cheerleader for Bethesda.
>>1803984 I think you can come up with a much funnier executive do-nothing title than that. Something like... Dovahkin - Deputy VP of Community Performance Initiatives & Team Building
(202.69 KB 1220x1584 Wigger douchebag troupe.jpg)

>>1803769 The final say is Japan, doesn't mean they don't get influenced by Westerns you fucking goof.

>>1804061 There's nothing more pathetic than self-hating white weebs >UOHH WESTERN CULTURE INFERIOR UOOHHHH JAPAN SUPERIOR RACE I WISH I WASN'T WESTOID GAIJIN
>>1804113 I would never want to live in Japan. The problem is the "white people" influencing them represent like 2% of the population and misrepresent western tastes to the Japan side so they can shill their minority political beliefs. I take zero pride in "white people" who think trannies deserve anything better than being ignored at best. Those people do not fucking represent me. So no, your retarded strawman doesn't apply to me.
