Alright but enough sounding like a faggot, here's me sounding like a faggot by trying to explain why I like Omagari Hare.
To be honest, I’m out of my element in describing something that doesn’t begin with “Today I want to talk about”. So I’ll try to structure this in a way that makes sense for both me to explain, and (You) to understand, based on the concept of the id, ego and superego.
>The id
I find Hare to be attractive, and that begins with her hair. Her wavy hair strikes a nice balance between being perfectly straight and messily curly, much like making software. The fact her ponytail seems to be mostly uniform is impressive, but the imperfections near the end, especially the loose strand, makes it more attractive, like the allure of an unsolved mystery and trying to make it solved. Her airvents leading to a clear division between her bangs and the rest of her hair really makes her look graceful, like she’d be a knight in a more medieval fantasy story. The hairpin being an upside down black cross is a mystery that is never really explained. Does Hare simply like it, or is there more to it? That hairpin then points to her ear and bang, but indirectly shows how her bangs frame the face, which has a soft, calm expression on it. The slight point on the chin is naturally the perfect thing to gently guide her face to where your lips meet. Her style of clothes is very based on being casual and comfy, which is admittedly more relatable than it should be (especially the idea of having your legs be exposed as opposed to your arms, suggesting that she has a lithe frame that can reasonably be picked up if (You) are strong enough, to really be someone she can literally lean into. The labcoat’s more a by-product of being a Millennium student, as she instead prefers not to wear it (why should she? The computer isn’t going to explode caustic acid on her, after all), as with her shoes. To address if Hare is a footcore student, I think that she is one of the few students where the answer is both yes and no, but she’s definitely got some nice legs. Her other outfits further demonstrate comfort over style, making her feel very relatable. Sure, she’d like to look better for Sensei, but there’s something refreshing about the honesty in which she carries herself, especially the camping outfit. Those shorts are clearly meant to be a warmer alternative to her standard fare (as is her wearing stockings), but it definitely makes sense for her. The ridiculously long daki she lugs around with her pajamas, while wearing just an oversized shirt, is both very cute, and again hits a specific part of my brain that makes me want to imagine the both of us being tired in bed, but then because of how long it’s been, we both have a sleepless, but most enjoyable, night. Maybe I’m weird for finding the casual outfits of Hare erotic, but that’s the honest truth.
>The ego
The most important part, my thesis statement for why I like Hare, is that she’s pretty close to a support role in a video game. By that I mean that she never really takes the center stage, instead being a someone who indirectly helps. This is very obvious in how she works in the game, too. Her normal kit doesn’t provide anything that’s too direct, instead opting for supplementary techniques like sending an EMP pulse to stop hostiles, keep one of those said hostiles from being able to heal, and improving her allies evasion, with her taking a modest crit chance buff. Even her camping alt has her putting herself as a team member as opposed to the team leader (even if I manually set her as the leader). It also does suggest that Hare learned some new techniques to help, even if it might be more mechanically simple in just raising a student’s attack. Much like a support character in a video game, when she has nobody around to help, she folds like a bad poker hand, especially with her “mid” stats.
That reflects back in her interactions with the rest of Veritas, too. She’s one of three troublemakers, but she’s pretty passive in her troublemaking, unlike Kotama and Maki. That’s not to say that she isn’t one, but more that she goes along with it because she’s a good friend. Whenever her fellow hackers decide on something, she’s there to help out, even if she’s probably aware of the consequences they’ll face. Having someone like that is really special. That sort of loyalty is the sort of thing that really moves me. There’s also something about how relaxed her hobbies are. Taking her out to a fine dinner would be a nice experience, but would be a rare thing. No, the ideal date for Hare would be a lot more mundane, as you order some pizza and dessert, maybe some soda if the two of you are out, and just relax and enjoy the other’s company watching movies, occasionally remarking on certain situations. I personally prefer documentaries and cooking shows, but there’s a significant enough overlap that it would be the plot twist in her mystery movie, or the subtle spice that brings the dish together. Another fun night for her and (me) would be just booting up a video game and playing it. Maybe one day we’re working together trying to make a really cool design, then the next we’re playing a pvp game with a surprisingly even score (though she’d be just a bit ahead). Yet another day we’re playing an MMO and doing quests, having already explored the world the game has to offer yet we both help each other and celebrate when we can upgrade our gear.
But of course, there’s also the moments where we both agree to disconnect from the grid for some time, and enjoy nature. Sure, Hare isn’t used to this, but she’ll do her best because of Sensei being there for her, believing in her ability to improve. While one of the big points about her character was solved in her energy drink dependency causing her poor health, it’s still a long road to help her truly break that habit, and an even longer road for her to not have such an addiction to the Internet, though with how the world’s going, that one might be trickier to help with. Even if it’s such a tall order, though, Sensei (me) will believe in Hare and help her see more nights with a starlit sky.
Whenever I remember her camp l2d, I immediately start crying. There’s something about her desire to one day shine truth to the world, like a sun of information, that’s really touching. I also cried a bit when I read the track that plays during that scene. I think it’s because it shows that despite Hare not quite being able to say that she loves Sensei despite being really close to it (Athena-3 is a really helpful wingbot when you think about it), there’s clearly a character that really cares, even if she’s usually cooped up in the Veritas club room.
>The superego
This one is definitely the gay blogpost part since it’s more introspective and meta, but it hopefully rounds things out. First and foremost, her voice is very calming and I could listen to it for hours, and it makes me very sad that Hare ASMR (or even any Veritas ASMR) is either in the future, or will never come. This does also extend to Hare’s VA. Maybe it’s silly to want the VA on streams, but I find her to be a very wholesome personality and enjoy seeing what she is up to.
The next meta part is really strange to describe, but I’ve seen enough that I’m convinced that Hare is a student who has a noticeably different fanbase from region to region. That is to say, Hare is more popular in Japan than global. I wouldn’t be too sure why this is, but I would have to guess it’s for similar reasons I brought up earlier: Hare is very loyal and reliable, who will always be there for (You), so long as (You) are there for her. This very quickly turns into some ridiculous theatrics where I then go off about being one of the few global Hare-senseis, but that’s not the whole story.
I believe that every student deserves to be looked at, because every student has something interesting about her. Maybe it’s how a student speaks, or perhaps how they hold themselves… Or what their hair tells us about the student. What I’m trying to say, other than me having a thing for ponytails being undone and revealing the true length of the hair, is that in Hare, I can’t help but see a bit of myself in her, typing away at the computer, writing code. I’m not nearly as good as she is, but there’s something of a dynamic that the two of us would have, where she helps me out with becoming a better programmer, and in turn I teach her what it means to live beyond the screen.
<Superego TL;DR (even I think this is faggy)
Hare is a character that I can see ways to improve her lifestyle, and in that, I am driven to pursue a better life myself.
>Wrapping it up
While there aren’t a lot of students who are intended to be beautiful, there’s also not a lot who are intended to be somewhat plain, but it’s that exact lack of a bold flavor that draws (me) to Hare. Are there other students that fill that exact niche? Yes, but there’s something about how much Hare’s eyes can express. While Sensei can help Airi learn what makes her unique, or give Aoba a reason to get up on the morning, for (me), there’s something that can’t quite be explained, much like how I can’t explain why I can then find Kaguya and Shizuko erotic. Perhaps it’s because there’s a shared tragedy. Hare will never work up the courage to say that she loves Sensei, and I can never truly experience a starlit night with Hare. But just because that might be true doesn’t mean I’ll give up on that idea. Maybe, some how, some way, a shared hello can be had.

I find it flattering, but moreso hilarious that it's so big that @Arona couldn't take it. By the way, the grand total of the novel + affection check piece comes out to 10229 words, or 56681 characters.
