Today I want to talk about Miyu and her hair. Miyu has straight brown hair that goes down to her belly button. Miyu also holds the honor of having the most "natural" hairstyle, because Miyu is, to my knowledge, the only student who has foliage in her hair, possibly because she forgot to remove it while doing her task as the squad's sniper. She also has a little ahoge and the slightest hint of air vents, but those details can easily be forgotten by her RABBIT hairband. Like every other RABBIT, she has a special headpiece that likely lets the squad quickly communicate with one another while on a mission. While four voices can be heard on it, one always seems to get lost in the feedback...
Miyu's swimsuit hairstyle has her tying her hair into two braids, giving a very cute look to her, almost like she could have a wicker basket and forage for berries... Though if the wicker basket is instead a pail and she's fishing, then that assessment is spot-on. Her braids end with white hair ties, tied in such a way that they look like rabbit ears. Her hair has always had a few loose strands, but it's more apparent here because of said braids. In true Miyu fashion, she has managed to get the local environment's flora in her hair again, this time in the form of kelp and coral, but there is comparatively less of it, at least!
Most students who have a sportswear outfit that wasn't obviously meant to be playable have the exact same hairstyle as their normal attire. Miyu, surprisingly, is an exception to the rule, as she's tied her hair into twintails that she put in front of her. This also shows how Miyu's hair seems to have a gravitational pull for fallen leaves, as even with a one-day hairstyle, a leaf managed to find a new home in it!
Miyu's design as a whole does a good job at making her look smaller than she really is, from the leaves providing a permanent camouflage, to the bootprints from being stepped on like she's a doormat, even to how her rifle is wrapped up to make it appear just a bit more inconspicuous. When it comes to more specific parts, Miyu's shoes look to be meant for distance running, and they're likely very light and comfortable as a result. The impressive part is how little dirt there is on them despite being white, suggesting care is taken in Miyu's attire (when it's not being stepped on by accident). Her white stockings are a sensible choice, seeing how her role might have her laying in nature for an extended period of time, so having anything to not get bit by bugs is an upside. She only wears one kneepad on her right, possibly to balance between having a leg that can remain stable and a leg that can more readily crawl to a better position if time allows. Her serafuku is mainly blue, with a green scarf and white secondary coloring, making it clear that she learned early on about maintaining peace and ensuring justice is provided. She has two pads near her arms, the left having an emblem that dignifies her a RABBIT. She carries binoculars, what seems to be a flashlight, and a third scope, though a crack in the middle suggests that it can't be used for now. The tape keeping it together is in character for any RABBIT; persevering with what is available until one day having something better. Finally, there is the "sad-looking rabbit" that she has as both a chain and as a cover for her pot. While it fits her, it would be nice to see the rabbit one day be happy instead.
Miyu's swimsuit is incredibly familiar, minus the straw hat worn to help keep the sun from blinding her. Her swimsuit does wonders to maker her appear less than she really is in how it covers her. The leaf pattern is very familiar. How did Miyu get such a pattern on a swimsuit, anyways? It's probably meant to help her feel more at home, seeing how she's in an unfamiliar environment. Unlike her squadmates who wore sandals, Miyu instead opted for crocs. A fun fact about crocs; only Miyu and Fubuki wear them, as every other summer alt instead opts for sandals. Miyu's crocs have a rabbit on them, which speaks volumes for how much the squad means to her. She also has a fashionable starfish on her croc, going for the natural look as always. Even her sniper rifle case has a starfish on it. It also has that sad bunny on it, which is on a pouch that is full of seashells. It's a pretty nice rifle case, and is likely carrying her rifle and some munitions in the larger side compartment, with the tin next to her sad bunny pot being where her binoculars are housed. Her pot is blue instead of pink, too, making her bond item strangely unique, because the pot inside the pouch might be just a pot in how it can be replaced, but it can be so much more with the simple addition of a drink made by friends.
I'm only bringing up Miyu's sports outfit because she carries a pebble in it. It's very in-character for her. Also, on this sprite specifically there's some strange 'X' below her. I have no idea what that's about, and it only shows up in this sprite. This seems like a good spot to talk about her halo, too. It's a dreary gray with raindrops falling on her (though not actually falling like with Tsurugi's). It seems very focused, as though it's looking in one specific place, compared to Moe's which strangely feels like it's trying to do the same, but can't help itself due to the (literal) explosive tendencies of its owner. Every RABBIT halo does a decent job at indirectly telling the viewer what the squad member does. The outer parts of Miyu's halo confine it, giving it that natural "scoped-in" look. Though, with the raindrops, I see it as a silver lining, that even if Miyu might be a defeatist, there's a part of her who truly believes things can get better.
Miyu's role as a sniper necessitates that her hair specifically smells either neutral, or natural. When it comes to her haircare, I'm weirdly conflicted on this. The foliage that's stuck in her hair seems to be a strange comfort for her, so would it be wrong to clean it up? At the same time, she could probably use an occasional check up to make sure her hair is doing fine. Her and her squadmates also take care of it (a further testament to just how close they really are). I haven't been so conflicted over the idea of brushing a student's hair as I am with Miyu's. I think this is a situation where asking would be the right call, to make sure I don't step on anyone's toes by accident. That said, being able to brush her hair would honestly be more to see her relax a bit than it would be for just taking care of her hair, because the sum is greater than the parts in this case.
