I can only do so much without losing cohesion. The best I can do is expand on what I meant with the FOX squad feeling very generic in their design and how it relates to Kivotos as a whole. They're definitely not alone in other characters who could also fall under this nebulous idea of a "generic character" (Abydos, ASS, Make-Up Work Club, Go-Home Club are the most apparent examples), but there's usually something that shifts that appearance into something more fantastical (Abydos and their eyes, ASS and Uzawa Reisa, Make-Up Work and how dubious they really are, Go-Home Club and the rest of Gehenna to complete those examples). The FOX squad gets this in the RABBIT squad and Kaya, which perhaps because of them not being the focus of the story made them not have anything as engaging. If anything, the way they were built up ironically harmed them in a way (especially Yukino), making them larger than life, but couldn't exactly go anywhere with it (for now). The mindset they took about tools is poignant in how, without those tools they use, they fade away in the toolbox, locked away to not be opened until the situation calls for them. There's a fan comic about Sensei being put on the spot with being asked which FOX member is his least favorite, and I still remember the options "WHOkino" and "Super Saiyan Serika" to this day. But the sad truth is that they're like moss, never really noticed in the forest unless specifically utilized.
Maybe I'm out of line. I'm just the guy who spins a wheel and writes about the chosen character's hair. But the FOX squad should be revisited sometime. I would like to see Bulgogi. I would like to see Super Saiyan Silicate. I would like to see Mama and her udon. And I want to see Whokino be Yukino, and even potentially be kino.
