Today I want to talk about Mirai and her hair. Mirai has curly white hair that mostly goes down to her neck, with two pieces of hair resting on her chest, just past her shoulders. Her bangs have air vents, though they're not as pronounced as other students. On her right is a hair accessory that is two blue triangles pointed up and joined together, the area with where they're joined being filled in. A chevron, a mountain, a trapezoid,
even the Star of David can be seen in such an accessory. Her hair also has what seems to be an iridescent sheen to it.
Mirai's outfit is a pretty clever disguise. Instead of a Millennium jacket, she instead wears a white jacket you'd see in an office rather than a lab. The details are where she sells it, though. White gloves that suggest handling items without smudging them, her jacket's collar rising up and having baby blue corners on them, looking somewhat scientific, and the Millennium card, almost certainly unable to let her enter locations on the dormitory, but giving her a more authoritative look like she knows what she's doing. Underneath her jacket is a button-up white shirt, long-sleeved going by how it sticks out of her coat. Underneath is a white pencil skirt, a wild difference to the normal skirts in Millennium and even Kivotos as a whole. It's not unique, but it's certainly rare. Underneath that is black stockings, providing a way to break up the incredible whiteness of Mirai's outfit, but said white returns in her heeled shoes, almost going up to her knees in how long they are.
Something that's played on for laughs but is a pretty clever theme with Miria, and Millennium as a whole, is the shaky alliance between innovation and economy. Seminar's duty is to find the middleground between both, because with no funding, all science becomes a pipe dream, even if said science was rather grounded. Mirai is the antithesis to the typical doctrine of Millennium, where instead of having the science take the lead, it's the economy taking the lead, offering products that, even if there's a grain of truth to them, isn't nearly as valuable as the price point entails. It's also a good way to show how thin the line between science and fantasy is, in how the SPTF could be seen as very close to the Pseudoscience club, yet there's a notable difference.
Something tangentially related to the above would be how Mirai's outfit looks like it's from a sci-fi film with a lower production value, or at least a film from yestercentury. I can't put it in a way that flows well or would make sense beyond that observation, so forgive the sidetrack.
Mirai's hair is weirdly fluffy for how short it is, it's kind of cute because of that. She does take care of her hair with brushing it, at least, though the brushes may occasionally be somewhat dubious in their purported benefits. The iridescent sheen on her hair has me wondering what manner of lotion and conditioner she uses, likely changing based on what new research she's come across. One month it's pineapple in winter, the next it's caramel...
I'm curious what Mirai's reaction would be if I pulled out a reliable hair brush, like one of the bamboo ones from the crafting chamber. Would she be adamant about using the granite hairbrush instead, or would she instead advertise a hairbrush made with depleted Uranium in a manner similar to Kotori? Could she be talked down or otherwise maneuvered into accepting a simple yet effective brush, or would she be headstrong in her beliefs? Such are the mysteries of the cosmos, and how we got here... Perhaps, one day, we will know what brush she'd use. But for now, that mystery will remain... Unbrushed.
