Routine thread Anonymous Id: 232585 No. 1985538
It's been 13 years... and it releases tomorrow After Alien Isolation I thought they would just not bother anymore.

>ROUTINE is a First Person Sci-Fi Horror set on an abandoned lunar base designed around an 80s vision of the future. Explore and investigate your surroundings as you survive against unknown threats. Mostly a walking sim?
Its always the 80's version of the future. Like no one can imagine what the 00's future was like or maybe have their own unique spin on it.

>>1985543 No, it has puzzles and combat Seems to be extremely limited though, a single weapon that's also used for puzzles. Don't know if it will have an upgrade system, the world building and atmosphere is looking pretty good though. >>1985552 >80s It's 70s anon, you fuckwit, like Alien >no one can imagine what the 00's future was like Pic related
>>1985538 If the atmosphere is still good, I might pirate it eventually.
>>1985569 Jason X was filmed in the '90s, though. It fits more with things like The Matrix, late '90s. The Matrix sequels were at least filmed in the 2000s, but of course they were building off the stuff from the first movie in the '90s. I think 2000s futures would be things like I, Robot Honestly I'm having a hard time thinking of big future-based sci-fi from the 2000s that isn't a sequel to stuff from earlier decades (and thus reflecting the styles of those earlier decades). Even I, Robot is an adaptation, but it's so loose that I'd still say it looks extremely 2000s.
Feels good to get this after so long.
>>1986708 late 90s and early 2000s are pretty much the same thing. Early 2000s was a bit more sanitized I'd say.
>>1986834 Yes, they are, because the 2000s, culturally, really begins after 9/11. And honestly I might argue it ends in 2007/2008. The '90s of course also had different kinds of futures. There was the grungy industrial future seen in things like The Matrix and Alien^3, but also the clean, glossy future reflected in the Y2K aesthetic.

>>1986900 >it ends in 2007/2008. Yeah the financial crisis and on top of that, the popularization of the internet at the same exact time forced a huge cultural shift from which we're still somewhat stuck in. While things were already getting pretty sanitized by the early 2000s, the late 2000s and the 2010s was nothing but baby shit for retards, which was also a consequence of the Chinese and Indian markets being opened up due to better living conditions and outsourcing. I think the transition will only happen after most boomers die out, we're already seeing a pretty big cultural shift. All of this to say that I miss grungy stuff and media and those are very rare nowadays in anything with half a decent budget.
>>1986922 I also miss the grunge of earlier gaming. Sure we have clearer views of what's going on but games are so clean now. I see too much, it isn't as scary. As a result devs are relying too hard on jumpscares because the atmosphere's been fucked up for spooks.
>>1985538 I saw it on the Yabbit stream. Looks like a neat game.

>>2000910 The issue isn't clarity, it's the art design
>>1986834 You're fucking stupid because most people did not have the internet in the 90s and the internet was the wild west in the 2000s. The 90s were arguably more sanatized because people did not have the means for true free speech (being able to talk about anything in front of random people). Most media in the 90s was absolutely woke as well but the internet becoming more available helped people break away from that in the 2000s
>>1986922 corporate hyper-sanitization is the permanent future until a technological revolution occurs, probably when strong AI arises. the only way out of power entrenchment is catastrophe or escape. There's never a solution within the system. Revolutions are always fake. The jews know this and are trying to position themselves to be in charge through every technological cycle. Non-jews will be enslaved, then disposed of as soon as robots can replace them. Some slave humans will be kept around as torture toys. Tikkun Olam progresses because nobody pushes back.
>>1986708 >I'm having a hard time thinking of big future-based sci-fi from the 2000s Minority Report The Island Immortal Fun fact about this movie, David Cage's studio did the CGI, so you could say it's a movie he worked on This is just from the top of my head.
>>2001976 I meant media you stupid fuck You were born after 9/1 weren' you?
So is the game actually good or are people just going to keep talking about other games?
>>2000983 Thanks for reminding me how much I despise what they did to the art style/design for the later KF games. They couldn't even keep the British shit everyone was amused by and the series was known for. >>2002559 I'm downloading it today to find out.

>>2002740 Generic shit for mass appeal, appealing to one. Ain't it a doozy? I'm just glad KF3 flopped as hard as it did, I still have a bad taste in my mouth from KF2, thought that one was 1 step forward and 2 steps back.
>>2002559 It's ok, bit too barebones I want to finish Total Chaos before getting to it.

>>1986708 >I'm having a hard time thinking of big future-based sci-fi from the 2000s that isn't a sequel to stuff from earlier decades (and thus reflecting the styles of those earlier decades) I'd put Riddick in there but I have no clue when Pitch Black started.
>>2003025 I almost cannot describe how much I dislike the design of the robots in Robots.
>>2003107 Same honestly.
>>1986708 >I'm having a hard time thinking of big future-based sci-fi from the 2000 WALL-E? Original films from the 2000s was pretty dead in general, especially when excluding company "canons" that might as well be series (Disney and Pixar) and near non-existant in the second half. Video games and cartoons really are the western media that had "cultural impact" in that era (and while many of those big ones began in the late 80s/90s, they were totally eclipsed by and not really needed for their successors. GTA1/2/London are basically footnotes.)
>>1985538 >Routine thread Check these dubs, OP is a fag ect
>>2003186 >t.butthurt misled Quebecois
>>2003107 >>2003158 I am going to predict your only complaint is that they are too hard to fap to.
>>1985543 It's far from a walking sim. Most of what you're doing are solving puzzles with some sort gun/tool hybrid, avoiding enemies with stealth or shooting at them with your tool-gun, and reading notes about what transpired. >>2002559 It's alright. It's too short in my opinion. Wish there were more to do and that it didn't end so quickly. It took me less than 3 hours to get to the 4th chapter.
Cool and all, but why aren't there any pictures of this allegedly 80s inspired spess-fi?
