Winter Games Anonymous 12/08/2025 (Mon) 03:11:31 Id: f328af No. 1998084
The Long Dark. Fantastic atmosphere and art style. The singleplayer story is... STILL NOT FINISHED after nine years, and they've already announced a sequel fuck these government funded canucks, but the gameplay itself is nice and the world is great. Arctic Awakening seems to be similar, but I haven't had a chance to play it yet.
Dun morough is easily THE best starting location in WoW.
>>1998981 Amusing a porn artist drew this His name is a fucking lie, he barely draws clang
>>1998084 For me it's Katawa Shoujo.
for me, it's Icewind Dale i finally played NWN recently so i might try the IWD mod this year

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDtm-dMnhZM I love the blueish hue that a lot of these levels have.

>>1998981 For comfy? Yes. As far as actual gameplay? Less so. The fact that nearly all of the quests take place on the west half of the map isn't great design. Pretty sure it's the only OG starter zone that has that issue to that degree. But this isn't a WoW thread, posting more winter vidya stuff. https://yewtu.be/watch?v=r1hvoc0X9H0 https://yewtu.be/watch?v=k5B1fKByIsc https://yewtu.be/watch?v=-fwjG6G01OE https://yewtu.be/watch?v=IbTNHSI2RL8
I live in Winterhold Skyrim IRL
foe me it's literally only Parasite Eve. the game's atmosphere is SO FUCKING COMFY. pre-9/11 NYC, mostly cloudy and at night time, and snow everywhere and it's Christmas. it's hard to explain. and the amazing soundtrack just adds to the amazing cozy atmosphere. that said. I don't like the story or the characters specially compared to the novel, and the game doesn't get good until the cockroach boss, but damn the atmosphere and music are AMAZING
In Gex 3 there's a Christmas/winter themed level called "Holiday Broadcasting" It's pretty good though some of the references are a bit dated of course.
Icewind Dale 2 Metal Gear Solid Cryostasis Dawn of War: Winter Assault Puzzle Agent series Wasteland 3 Frostpunk
Freezeezy Peak will always be one of my favorite Christmas-themed areas in all of gaming. The music gives a great jubilant atmosphere. I often play up to Freezeezy Peak once a year just for shits and giggles. Also this answer may be contentious, but building a cabin in a snowy biome in minecraft is pretty damn comfy. But that may be nostalgia speaking for me
Nuclear Nightmare is scuffed as all hell but I'm a sucker for games in remote snowy outposts >inb4 friendslop
What are some good horror games with a winter aesthetic?
>>1998272 I should note that you don't have to care about the "story" mode. The Long Dark has an open-ended survival crafting mode (has since the start) and several environmental challenges that were entertaining and comfy as hell.
>>2002956 See >>2001325 tho it's more thriller than horror
Easy Delivery Co >>2002956 Cold Fear. The Thing. Nightmare Creatures. The Prisoner of Ice.
All I really want is a comfy "open-world survival craft" game that's all in the snow. Feel the Snow is the only I really know of, and I don't really care for it. Sure there's Minecraft but you'll spend most your time underground. Valheim has a snow biome but I only played at launch and it was one of the later areas. And a lot of games like those two have those areas, but I don't want to have to find it.
>>2005014 There's The Long Dark
>>2005168 Interesting. I should have added I wanted base building, and this doesn't look like it quite has that, but it still looks like it might be fun. I'll give the demo a try, thanks! >>2005493 Long Dark isn't really what I want. As I said I want comfy, so less emphasis on survival. Long Dark kicks you in the balls as soon as you start. I've tried a handful of times and really have lasted longer than an hour of play time before I'm already near death. It's pretty heavy on the survival part. Which it seems to do well, it's just not what I'm looking for.
>>2006328 Long Dark has custom difficulties, it can be very comfy if you're not playing on Interloper, if you haven't tried it in a while you should If you're specifically looking for a base building snow game, I remembered Arctico exists
