Control: Resonant Anonymous 12/12/2025 (Fri) 18:24:23 Id: 734ed3 No. 2012042
The first control was a pleasant surprise for me and just a solid action shooter game. I'm unsure how I feel about the sequel being an action RPG, but I will say I do love how the game is reaching even deeper in the power fantasy of having esper powers.
>>2012042 The combat was pretty bad in Control 1. The gun modes lacked weight and generally the answer was just to throw boulders at everything. The real star of the show was the atmosphere and the Oldest House actually being pretty cool. I have hopes for the second one being cool too;
>>2012042 Remedy are fags & Control wasn't very good to begin with.
>>2012144 There's evidence to suggest that SBI might have been mandated by Epic as a condition for them basically bankrolling AW2. They aren't working with Epic anymore.
>>2012149 Damage is done.
Yeah, I couldn't make it more than a few hours into Control 1. Gunplay was bad, the powers weren't fun to use, and the main character had a face like a sack of potatoes. It sems like it only got notoriety because it was one of the first meme-tracing titles to be widely used as a benchmark.
>>2012149 They also did an AMA with ResetERA right after the THQNordic AMA. They're scum.
>>2012119 >The real star of the show was the atmosphere and the Oldest House actually being pretty cool. A love letter to the architectural style, that was. If they weren't retards chasing the Current Trend™, FBC: Firebreak could have been a team roguelike set in the Oldest House using proc-gen to make the game endlessly twisty. That's the entire premise of the setting and they totally missed out on making a game that takes advantage of it. Not that I only want any Control content to take place solely within the Oldest House, of course. The world they've built up is great and there are likely other field offices (whether Altered or otherwise) that would be fun to build games around.
>>2012376 >the powers weren't fun to use I disagree >the main character had a face like a sack of potatoes. I hard disagree >it only got notoriety because it was one of the first meme-tracing titles to be widely used as a benchmark. That might be true, but i believe its popularity is due to the fact that it's the only highly polished SCP game on the market which explains all the troonies associated with it. That's what I found cool about it. The gunplay was extremely tedious however.
>>2012485 I liked the game but the shooting was the weakest part.
>>2012042 The story itself wasn't notably memorable except for Ahti, the Finnish janitor and that Ashtray Maze. This new one with Jesse Faden's brother, Dylan, as the main character is interesting to the few here that have finished the game since he was a bad guy earlier. I don't know how well his redemption arc against the Hiss and that mold will end up going, which might be why Remedy decided to make him the main character while Jesse isn't here (yet). There's also some ties with Alan Wake II's story, but I haven't played that yet. As for the gameplay, at least there's no shooting with the Service Weapon (I hope) unless they make the same mistakes again but in melee form with this new sword/hammer/spear weapon called the Aberrant.
>>2014584 Dylan was possessed so there's an argument to be made he wasn't really evil at all.
>>2014584 >There's also some ties with Alan Wake II's story, but I haven't played that yet. I'm not touching anything that SBI had a hand in.

>>2012485 >>the main character had a face like a sack of potatoes. >I hard disagree Mary Sue Manjaw isn't a matter of disagreement.
>>2014975 Strong jawlines are indicative of healthy genetics and are universally attractive. Besides, not wanting to breed a woman with one to have naturally chiseled looking sons is basically gay.
They just need to make the combat not souls , the world or progression meaningful and the game to not chug even on a 5090.
>>2015175 It's playable on a 980; what do you mean?
