Today I want to talk about Maki and her hair.
I rolled her yesterday but it was way too late to do anything other than subpar work.
Maki has curly red hair that, when left natural, goes down to her ass. To give a comparison of hair length, Chihiro is the shortest, then Hare, then Maki, and finally Kotama with the longest hair (though the trio have relatively similar hair lengths, at most about 6 inches of difference between them). Now, Maki's hair isn't known for being curly or that long. It's well-known that Maki has her hair in buns. They aren't tied with anything else, giving a solid red picture throughout. They feel familiar, like I may have seen another character from another franchise have them... Can't remember them, so it must be a unique thing for Maki. The hacker painter has an ahoge, much like Kotama. It's a thicker ahoge, but it's not as long. It also definitively marks where her bangs are, as does said baings being pretty messy and almost certainly something that she brushes to the side with her hand with some degree of frequency. Her longest bangs go down to the end of her neck, though she's also leaning forward so it's likely something where it just barely brushes her shoulders as opposed to resting on them.
With Maki specifically, I feel like I would be remiss if I didn't mention the sticker that resembles Maki. There's a few names it goes by. This cute little thing has Maki's likeness, as can be seen with the hair (and the face it's giving. Innocent yet mischievous), and is likely a fun and harmless way to tag things. There's a lot of things it could be, but there are a few things it is: It is Maki, and it is cute.
Cute Maki has her hair in a twintail braid in front of her, likely to prevent her hair from getting caught between the backpack and her back and causing discomfort. The eye of color that she has, she ties the ends of her hair with orange bands, a similar color to the outer shirt she wears, and also a pleasing color to go with her jacket and beanie. Speaking of which, her beanie has cat ears. These apparently exist in the real world, though the way they're sticking up like that makes me wonder if there's something in the beanie or under the beanie that's causing it to remain shaped like that. She wears her beanie pretty loosely, which shows a bit of naivete in regards to being outside during New Year's, perhaps valuing fashion over warmth, or perhaps finding it tight over her to be uncomfortable. Either way, it lets her cute shaggy bangs breathe, and lets her smile highlight the outfit.
Maki's pajamas is her hair when it's left natural. It's possible that the curls in her hair are from the buns, but it could also just be that this is her natural hair type and she simply likes having her hair in buns. It's probably because that keeps her hair close and hides her hair length, helping with any spray painting (or eluding) she gets into. Of course, since she has a reputation of doing this, it's not a very effective disguise, but it is still likely an effective way to protect her hair.
I would like to point out how, despite being a graffiti artist, Maki wears white shoes, a white skirt and the inside of her coat is also white. And if it's not white, it's black. That white gives Maki a very cute innocent look, the black highlighting that she's a little rascal. And she chooses these two colors because, while the graffiti may eventually be painted over, the memories (and stains) will remain. They're marks of pride, I imagine. It makes her pajama having color marks near the bottom really cute, because it shows her being very passionate about this.
As I mentioned previously, Maki's hair is shaggy at the bangs. While she probably takes enough care to get her hair into the hairbuns she wears, she probably doesn't do much else than that. As such, it's likely messy, and could probably use a good brushing now and again. As for how it smells, it's a bold sweetness, sort of like a cheesecacke's richness. Her hair doesn't smell like a cheesecake, but it does smell like any number of sweet treats, with enough intensity to declare who she is.
Maki might need a good brushing... But she also has incredibly ruffle-able hair! I want to give her a vigorous headpat and smile at her for a good job she did while she beams at me with the adorable smile she does, she's too cute!
She'd also probably give a big winning smile when her hair is getting brushed, playing a video game and letting me peek over her shoulder while I let the brush feel for and untangle her curly hair, this being a bit of a regular occurrence because of those curls. An initial apprehension that's turned into a casual fun time for the two of us, letting her unfurl those hairbuns and suddenly having gorgeous and cute curly hair flow down, becoming easier and easier for her to manage her hair because it's being looked after!
