Game a Day Challenge: Play something NEW! Anonymous Id: 00bd50 No. 2085745
I think something that stifles peoples' ability to play games nowadays is the need to "complete" them. As a result, people will default to games that have shorter "loops" of engagement and will return to those instead of trying something new. With exception to arcade games, its likely that players hardly experience an inkling of what all the game has to offer with a cursory play of 30 minutes. Despite that, many modern games badly need to improve how long it takes for players to interact with their mechanics. That is why I am creating this thread. I want everyone here to pick something at random from your steam collection, the games on your emulators, the games you picked up for free on GoG or games in your backlog. PLAY THEM. 1 hour at most. Post Screenshots. How compelling is the game? Would you play it again? Does it ramp into the action quickly? A brief synopsis about what you liked and didn't like. Tomorrow? DO IT AGAIN. New day, new game. I will try to do the same as well. Don't feel overly attached, and just enjoy it. I look forward to the games that you guys will post.
```Community Pom English Romhack``` A cute zelda-like adventure game that stars a witch who needs to save al of the "poms." After saving, they pledge their loyalty to the main character. The first hour has me touring through two dungeons and I am greeted by two separate "poms" to save. The game is part adventure, part rpg with basic level mechanics, and part management sim, as you can task your poms to build houses, farm, or other tasks. <How Compelling is the game? The story isn't much, but the dialogue is humorous enough that you want to see more of it. <Does it ramp into the action quickly? Since the intro cinematic provides a bit of backstory, the game proper only has brief dialogue before you're out slaying creatures. Less than 5 minutes, which is a welcome pace. <Would I play it again? Not sure. The game seems cute, but most zelda-likes to me aren't my cup of tea.
I played Fortress for the GBA. <How compelling is the game? I enjoyed it more than regular Tetris as the battle element keeps me from getting bored. <Would you play it again? Yeah, a match is short enough for it to be a good time waster when waiting for something else. <what you liked and didn't like Negatives: >I keep getting the least useful blocks which makes building certain layouts a pain >It doesn't really explain the various towers and powers you can build so you just have to figure it out as you play >framerate is kinda shit >some sound effects are loud and annoying Positives: >multiple factions >making huge things like dragons to go after your enemy is pretty cool >easy to get into
New Day New Game Today I played No One Lives Forever An adventurous FPS action romp styled after Spy Thrillers and 007. <How Compelling is the Game? Very! The premise of spy adventure games during the cold war is usually very fun to deal with, so I am excited to see the other locales the game has to offer outside of time spent in Morocco. <Would you play it again? I do! Though the FPS features just seem bog standard so any further gameplay is likely just to experience the story and levels. Of course the game can't be mentioned without how inaccessible it is to acquire legally due to issues of ownership, but I hope more people can take the time to experience it. <Likes and Dislikes Good: >Fun premise >Funny Dialogue >Multiple ways to approach a level Bad >Stealth seems very hard to pull off since detection is easy >Hitscan enemies so its hard to see and dodge projectiles outside of hunkering behind barrels or corners Unrelated to the game itself, but since its a legacy title, a lot of the sprites like the health bar, weapons, and text can be very small and unreadable.
>>2088678 This game screams ps2 title rather than PC shooter you basically need to use steam input to even make the PC version playable and not baby easy...
