DOS Rom Sets Anonymous 04/23/2025 (Wed) 01:23:19 No. 304
Where can I download DOS rom sets? Myabandonware has purged several games, dropping from 5565 to 4530. I'm hoping to be able to get all 5565 games in one set. Archive.org has a few sets, but torrent sites seem to be the best option. The problem is they are shutting down, and the remaining ones have lousy search functions.
Maybe take a look at this. https://www.retro-exo.com/exodos.html
>>309 eXoDOS is utter garbage as it tries to coddle you at every turn and makes setting up the games on actual hardware/your own emulator a chore.
>>304 I'm interested as well. Archive.org has proven to be a bit hit and miss, and as >>312 says, packs like eXoDOS (and the /vr/ DOS pack as well for that matter) make setting the games up in your own DOSBox or PCem installation hard because they're set up to run under their own pre-configured environment.
>>319 Can you not just take the games out and run them however you want?
>>321 Without the setup files? lol
idk what any of that all bullshit means but cdrom.com used to have all the shovelware cds that repackaged vintage DOS stuff over and over. theres surely site archives of that in places.
>>319 archive.org and torrents are better if you search by ripping group like TOSEC or Redump. /r/roms links cover a lot of PC stuff too.
>>304 No one really calls that shit ROMs for DOS games. And you go through DOS abandonware or warez sites, usually. You can also bite the bullet and buy that usenet subscription that has old-ass alt.binaries files.
