So I beat the bloodmoon expansion for morrowind the other day. And while I did like it, I have to say that in the end it was kind of a not underwhelming but not great experience either. Solstheim is absolutely CRAWLING with enemies. I used jump spells to get around and even then they were still annoying, I can't imagine actually walking to get anywhere. You would end up spending half of your time in the expansion just beating on bears and fryse hags. It seems they decided to counter this by putting health potions in almost every single chest and on almost every dead character. I'm wondering if they were also doing that to make sure you'd be loaded up for the last area and the final fights but who knows. Todds design language seems to be all over it though. There is a mountain in the middle of the island that you CAN climb. The majority of areas in solstheim(I can't even call them dungeons) and just small burial chambers with maybe a couple rooms and a few enemies. "dungeons" are long tunnels with a few branching paths. The area you think will be the final dungeon or something close to it, castle karstaag, is just more of those branching tunnels below and a few mostly empty rooms up top. I don't think there's a single lock in the whole expansion with a difficulty higher than 75 and most are at 50 which is strange considering the recommended level for the final areas is 40, at least according to the wiki anyway. It figures that todd must have told the designers to make sure that players can do everything in one run of the expansion. They probably weren't thinking about adding any replayability. I do have to say though, I did like the main quest for the most part and I liked the raven rock quests as well except for the one where they tell you to fuck off and go across the island to figure out what stahlrim is. That really killed the flow of those quests. I ended up forgetting about raven rock for quite a while after that and I would have preferred I didn't. The side quests were a mixed bag. I liked the curveball they throw at you with the falmer research quest and I also thought the sovngarde quest started well but then completely fell flat on its face in the end. Same with the uncle sweetshare quest. Him actually giving up the act because you ask him seems out of character for someone that far gone. Some of the enchanted items you get are pretty good like the robe that fortifies your magic and cunjuration but lowers your personality by 100 and causes the sun to damage you. The white walker robe though is kind of dumb and basically just tarhiel tier shenanigans. Overall I'd say it's maybe a 6.5 or 7 out of ten. Now I just have to finish tribunal which I started and then quit when I had lost some save progress. People say that it's the worse one so I guess that will be interesting. I'm looking forward to hearing guards say "Mournhold, city of light! City of magic!" for 25 hours.
