(probably the only time I'll get to talk about Tokyo Mew Mew on this board but whatever) meanwhile DP precure had a shit romance subplot that went nowhere (no kiss, not even a hug), it was refreshing to see Ichigo actually hook up with a boy. ACTUAL romance in a mahou shoujo, I couldn't believe my eyes. They work out hiccups in their relationship and even kiss at the end. Not all romances worked out well. Lettuce got dumped hard and the anime didn't shy away from how heartbroken she was. There was also Ichigo's stalker Quiche (the one who stole her first kiss) who in a weird twisted way, I ended up liking him when he protected his beloved Ichigo with his life. Tragic. I guess Minto could count as one of the earliest "Onee-sama!!" yuribait girls with her affection for Zakuro. This archetype has since been copied over and over. Lemon didn't have any romance, but man. Her episode where she hopes her parents are proud of her.... it suckerpunches you outta nowhere with how emotional it is. Don't really remember much about Zakuro since she has the most forgettable personality imo. But overall, I really enjoyed Tokyo Mew Mew. Easily a Top 5 mahou shoujo for me.
