>>43170 >He has the Oxygen Mask on How were you supposed to complete Cannon's Core without that?
>>43171 You can. It's just an extremely tight window between air gasps. The level is designed for such an occasion of the player not having the air necklace
>>43173 That happened to me and my brother and I still remember it to this day because good gosh did that take a long time
(247.30 KB 1192x902 1508566915228.png)

>>43176 >because good gosh did that take a long time I find it funny how Sonic Team designed some stages without giving a single fuck about how the player may fare. I've been stuck in the emerald hunting stages way too long. Way too long.
>>43177 Cannon's Core without the Air Necklace is hard, but doable. When I first played the game I didn't bother to get all the items, so I just had to beat Cannon's Core without it. But how can you get stuck on the Emerald stages? The hint system makes them way too easy. If you're trying to get A Ranks, I can see that adding some challenge, but to actually get stuck implies you can't beat it even with hints. Although I do remember the last Emblem I ever got when trying to 100% the game for the first time was Rouge's final Hard Mode mission, because it requires you to do that spinning kick move which is never useful anywhere else in the game, so I wasn't aware it existed despite 100%ing the entire rest of the game. That took me a couple hours to figure out, I think. Probably could have read the manual, but I had pirated the game, after realizing that burning Dreamcast disks was so easy. I'd feel bad, but the system was already dead when SA2 released, so it's fine.
>>43178 >But how can you get stuck on the Emerald stages? It was a long time ago and I don't remember exactly. I think the hints were garbage, or I may have just ignored them as I'm not a fan of getting help. Weren't some of them like upside down or something? Fuck them. I remember having a lot of trouble pinpointing the precise and exact spot it wanted me to dig in too.

>>43181 I thought I'd give it a chance but there's something about it that rubs me the wrong way.
Why is Metal Sonic mute in CrossWorlds?
>>43184 I was hoping for them to let him say SOMETHING but nope. I hate mute Metal, he could speak in his base form in heroes, why not now? These days I have to admit that there just isn't much to like about him anymore save for his design, sega has mistreated him the absolute worst out of any of their characters over the years. They even make him job in the shitty comics now, like, come on
>>43185 >sega has mistreated him the absolute worst out of any of their characters over the years. >He forgot about Amy, who now isn't allowed to have her key character trait and is relegated to generic and unlikable "girlboss" stereotype >He forgot about Knuckles, who is lucky to appear in anything, including his own TV series
>>43186 >He forgot about Knuckles, who is lucky to appear in anything, including his own TV series So he lacks screen time in his series? I haven't watched it because I thought it was probably garbage, how good is it?
>>43186 I did not forget. I just think metal sonic has it the worst

Man, the social media team deserves at least a bit more budget.
Some clues about the future comics. I guess I should play Frontiers sooner rather than later. Also some IDW #82 teasers.
>>43189 >Seigmeyer of Pumpkarina >Cornelius Pumpit I get that these are just jokes for an ad, but it would be genuinely hilariousif either of these characters got referenced in the future.
>>43192 I thought they were references to something and I wasn't getting it
>>43185 He even speaks in Generations
>>43187 It's about bowling and Jews. I got enjoyment out of it by treating it as a joke.
>>43193 If they are, then I don't get them either. >>43194 He doesn't have actual voicelines, just an output of text. Also the Metal Sonic in Gens is the Metal Sonic from CD, which might've been able to speak (at least going off of the JP soundtrack), unlike post-Heroes Metal.
>>43196 Are they supposed to be different characters? >He doesn't have actual voicelines, just an output of text. It's still dialogue. That would be like saying Marine is meant to be mute lol
>>43197 >Are they supposed to be different characters? No, but they have different technical capabilities since Metal Sonic was rebuilt several times after CD. >It's still dialogue. >That would be like saying Marine is meant to be mute lol The other boss characters all talk in their fights, Metal Sonic does not and he doesn't have the excuse of being crammed on a DS cartridge. This single bit of "dialogue" might not be diagetic, but rather a convenient way to start the fight. He's talking to the player rather than Sonic.
>>43198 You're overcomplicating it, he's talking
>>43199 Fine I'll concede that he's talking, but he's not post-Heroes Metal Sonic. Come to think of it, Neo Metal Sonic spoke in Shadow Gens, so Sonic Team is fine allowing speech capable iterations of Metal Sonic speak in newer games.
>>43200 I guess he's just Metal Sonic from the past. Classic Tails also talks. It's weird that Classic Sonic doesn't.
>>43186 Knuckles is screwed, he just seems unpopular now. At least in Crossworlds nobody at all plays him. I see him more than Espio and Omega online, but that's about it. People play Metal Sonic all the time and he's actually super popular, and there's quite a few Amyfags, but Knuckles basically doesn't exist. I suppose Shadow and Metal do the rival thing better, and Zavok took away the barafags, is red and is funny to pick because of his CUM voice line, so Knuckles just can't compare. I was initially shocked to just play and go through 10 or 20 matches without a single Knuckles
>>43187 >>43187 It's very bad, but some parts are so bad they're almost laughable. The premise is that the ghost of Pachacmac, played by Christopher Lloyd, appears to Knuckles and tells him to pass down the echidna teachings, so he picks Wade Whipple, Tom's deputy. If you like the games, you won't know who Tom is. He's Sonic's (and now Tails' and Knuckles') adoptive human dad. Tom doesn't appear in the series because that guy who played Cyclops in the X-Men movies was too expensive, so instead you just see his black wife in the first episode. Anyway Wade was in the movies too as a bit part comic relief character, but you'd be forgiven for forgetting him. He's a big fat gay guy who dresses in blue and looks and acts like Bartleby's Bitch from Sonic Underground. He's obviously not a warrior, but he likes to bowl because his father, who abandoned his family when Wade was a kid, was a pro bowler, "Pistol" Pete Whipple. So the show is about Knuckles taking Wade on a road trip to a bowling tournament. Along the way, Rogue GUN agents want to kidnap Knuckles and get his power, to sell it to a former GUN Agent who used to work for Robotnik (when Robotnik worked for GUN) called "The Buyer." And also they hire Wade's former bowling partner, Jack, who is a redneck bounty hunter to try to kidnap Knuckles as well. So there's an episode where the GUN agents get Knuckles and Wade has to bumble his way into helping him escape. There's an entire episode where they stop and visit Wade's mom and sister and have a jewish ritual dinner, and Wade's mom explains that Knuckles is a jew because his people were genocided. Then Jack the redneck bounty hunter (who has apparently rounded up a posse) attacks, and it's not subtle about how it's really about white people attacking jews. So Knuckles has to beat up all the white people while protecting the special jewish ritual candle and not letting it go out. And he does. But then the redneck guy kidnaps Knuckles at the beginning of the next episode anyway. So in the next episode, Pachacamac appears to Wade and tells him of how Knuckles got his power, which is called The Flames of Disaster. Of course, Sonic fans will recognize The Flames of Disaster as a term that refers to Iblis, the world destroying fire demon from Sonic '06. The episode is called The Flames of Disaster, and if you made it past the previous episode "The Shabbat Dinner," you probably have Stockholm Syndrome and might be pretty psyched to finally see an episode with a title that implies a cool demon with a cool story. No, instead they make a joke about how this whole episode will be presented as low budget musical theater. So most of it is a flashback, but it's Wade in a Knuckles costume, and the fire demon (which does kinda look like Iblis, but is never called such) is a puppet, along with other characters, like Knuckles' father. Now, Knuckles' father appearing is funny because, in order to make him look like a dad, he's just Knuckles with a moustache. So Ken Penders became convinced that not only were they infringing his copyright, because he thinks he owns the idea of Knuckles having a father, but also he believes the character was based on him, because of course he considers himself to be "the father of Knuckles." Anyway, Wade in a Knuckles costume lives out the flashback of how Knuckles beat this unnamed fire demon and acquired its power, "The Flames of Disaster," which is why Knuckles has fire punches in the movie version. Then Wade goes to try to save Knuckles, but is also captured and put in a cage. However, remembering the lesson Knuckles learned in the flashback, Wade does a Spiral Uppercut (no way it's a reference but I'm going to refer to it by name because it's more fun that way) and punches/leaps out of the cage. So like... does Wade also have The Flames of Disaster now? Just because Pachacmac made him imagine himself as Knuckles as he showed him a vision of Knuckles gaining the power? Don't worry about it, because it never comes up again. Wade beats the bounty hunter dude and saves Knuckles and they continue on their adventure. But even though Knuckles is barely in it, this is the best episode. Because I can convince myself that it's about Knuckles fighting Iblis, even though it's actually a big fat gay jew in a Knuckles costume fighting a puppet that looks like but isn't specifically referred to as Iblis. Also, Christopher Lloyd as Pachacamac makes his second appearance, and he's the best part of the series. He's only in like two scenes of the entire series, but he's actually funny, even if he's nothing like the personality of the character from the games. Maybe his ghost chilled out after he got killed. Idk. Really the ghost should have just been Tikal, but then she wouldn't have been played by Christopher Lloyd and wouldn't have been the only funny thing in the series, so it's all a trade-off. So Wade and Knuckles get to Atlantic City or wherever the bowling tournament was, and as they enter the city and you see a brief montage of Knuckles looking at all the casino lights and stuff, the music played is "Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta," by The Gheto Boys, and for one brief moment, you almost believe you're watching a show that actually feels like it's about Knuckles. Then that ends. They meet Wade's dad, played by Cary Elwes, and he's a total jerk. So Wade's mom and sister are around and they get to hate on him because men are bad and all that. But okay, they're at a bowling tournament, and Knuckles rolls up into a ball. Obviously Knuckles is gonna help Wade win the bowling tournament. But no. The GUN agents do show up again and Knuckles has to fight a giant robot (I think the robot is piloted by The Buyer, who hasn't actually been important except that he hired these GUN agents, who then subcontracted Jack), which to be fair is what the entire series should have been, but then Wade beating his dad at the bowling tournament is completely unrelated, which seems like pretty sloppy writing. The dad does betray the protagonists to the GUN agents, but after that it's not like he does anything else with them where he becomes a bigger antagonist. He just gets beaten at bowling. And I guess now Wade has succeeded at his warrior training, so he's officially Knuckles' protege, which actually pays off in Sonic 3 when Wade has a brief cameo as the (presumably interim) Guardian of the Master Emerald, since Knuckles is off on an adventure in the movie. Which to be fair is kind of funny, and frankly, after watching an entire series where Wade was the main character, I almost would have been disappointed if he wasn't in Sonic 3 at all. Also it helped that Sonic 3 was actually a good movie, so I was in a good mood when I saw Wade appear.
But okay, let's say I wanted to change the series as little as possible, but make it as good as possible. I can't change the premise, it still has to be about Knuckles taking Wade to a bowling tournament and teaching him life lessons along the way. Well obviously Knuckles is the bowling ball. The whole thing should have been that they stop at other bowling alleys along the way and hustle their opponents to win money, but actually they're cheating because the ball is alive. And then the GUN agents figure this out, and that's how they catch up and find them at the final bowling tournament, so when they're at an actual important game, Wade is on his own because Knuckles is busy fighting a giant robot outside or whatever. And of course Wade's dad should have been tied in more with the GUN agents, beyond just having him sell out the protagonists to them once. And there's the third antagonist of the Bounty Hunter, who is also a bowler. And "The Buyer," who is also a former GUN agent. This is all so messy. Obviously The Buyer didn't need to be a separate character. Just have it so the two primary rogue GUN agents used to work for Robotnik, and they have the same motivation The Buyer has. He is the only one who is physically threatening, though, so maybe just make him a current (but rogue) GUN agent instead and have him fill their role. There is no reason this needs to be two separate groups. Jack the Bounty Hunter should come back at the end and become Wade's Dad's partner. Or better yet, combine those two characters, so Wade's bowling partner was his dad the entire time, and Wade knew it, but didn't tell his family that he was hanging out with his dad because they hate him so much. Then when that guy gets recruited by GUN, instead of the betrayal being that Wade's friend betrayed him, which is repeated when Wade's dad betrays him, it's all one character. Instead of one recurring antagonist who is replaced by another partway through the series, make it all one guy. Make it so Wade has been casually bowling with his dad in secret, thinking they're rebuilding their relationship, but then when the bowling tournament comes up, Wade gets his hopes up that they can compete together, as a team, but instead his dad ditches him (again). Then Knuckles takes Wade and becomes a surrogate father figure, which is bizarrely what already happens in the series, but if you're introduced to Wade's daddy issues earlier it will make slightly more sense. So they start on their road trip, but stop at another bowling alley on the way, for practice. Knuckles is all about honor and everything, but when he sees the alley's local bigshot challenge Wade and also generally be a jerk, he concocts a plan with Wade to humiliate him, so that he will no longer menace the locals. Knuckles would phrase it as if this loser at a bowling alley is equivalent to a local warlord, and all is fair in love and war. But of course this would then be a character arc for Knuckles as well, as he must also learn to be a better (and more honorable) warrior. By using his power to win at bowling, the rogue GUN agents find him, leading to the episode where they capture him, which doesn't necessarily need to change (assuming we're stuck with the series really being about Wade and not Knuckles). The GUN agents now know Wade is travelling with Knuckles, and recruit Pete (Wade's dad) to get close to Wade and kidnap Knuckles, and most of the same story can happen (even if it is a stupid story). He can kidnap Knuckles in "The Flames of Disaster" episode, and when Wade finds out it's him, he can just say he was trying to protect Wade from this alien demon thing. And even though that's obvious bullshit, Wade will believe him and simply explain that Knuckles is his friend (or sensei or whatever), and Pete can pretend to be surprised by this. Then Wade asks if maybe he's reconsidered being partners at the bowling tournament, but can give a sob story about how he's come to respect Wade, and wants to have a real one-on-one competition with him. Good sportsmanship, as a sign of respect and love. And Wade would be conflicted because he's been using Knuckles to cheat the whole time. But actually it's a moot point because his dad only says this to get him and Knuckles to let their guard down. Knuckles is of course also very naive, and this can be a parallel drawn between them. Meanwhile Pete is obviously being a dick and abandoning his son yet again. So they get to the tournament, and Pete sells them all out, as he does in the actual series, largely so that he can eliminate Wade, his biggest competition, from the tournament. He doesn't really care about Wade, or even about sportsmanship. But what he doesn't expect is that when he calls GUN to pick up Knuckles, they show up with a giant robot, not taking any more chances. They carelessly wreck the bowling alley, and a big girder or something falls on Pete, and Wade is such a good guy that, even though he has every reason to hate the guy, he saves him. Then Wade, and maybe Pete, has to do some pivotal thing that causes the robot a moment of weakness and allows Knuckles to beat it. Then we cut to an epilogue of Wade and his dad at the end of an extremely close bowling match, and Wade wins, and his dad shows signs of what seems like maybe sincere respect, and Wade shows signs of what might be forgiveness, but more importantly, self-respect. And then we zoom out to see that this bowling alley is in a prison, and a guard comes to grab Pete and say visiting hours are over. Wade leaves, and meets Knuckles by the gates, and Knuckles says he is proud of Wade, who now has the spirit of a warrior, and he starts talking about how Wade's relationship with his father reminds him of his own complicated relationship with his ancestors. "Let me tell you the tragic tale of the fearsome Chief Pachacamac, whose hubris led to the downfall of his people." And Wade is like "That guy? He seemed nice." "His spirit may have been calmed by the teachings of eons, but long ago..." Then music starts playing and the credits start rolling. And the theme song isn't Warrior by The Bangles, it's Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta by The Gheto Boys. (Because of course I know they couldn't just play Unknown from M.E., like they obviously should have.) So to summarize, Wade Whipple is the best member of the Chaotix, and should have been in the recent IDW Chaotix 30th Anniversary Special. Also, as Knuckles' successor as the Guardian of the Master Emerald, he is infringing upon the copyright of Lara-Su, and Ken Penders should sue.
>>43204 I've seen the show, but this was funny to read >I think the robot is piloted by The Buyer In the storyboards that robot was called "Black Arms", so you can say they adapted those in the same way they adapted Iblis
(414.04 KB 652x1024 slap.jpg)

>>43195 What. Sounds like GTA 4, kek. >>43204 >played by some guy I hate it already. >So the show is about Knuckles taking Wade on a road trip to a bowling tournament You have got to be shitting me. >There's an entire episode where they stop and visit Wade's mom and sister and have a jewish ritual dinner, and Wade's mom explains that Knuckles is a jew because his people were genocided kek >Wade in a Knuckles costume, and the fire demon (which does kinda look like Iblis, but is never called such) is a puppet, along with other characters Sounds like they could give the fags who make plush videos a run for their money. Why does Knuckles always end up knee deep in autistic shit like all this? >Penders I kinda miss reading Penders' bullshit to be honest. Stories like this are definitely what you have in mind when you think of Sonic the Hedgehog™
>>43206 But at least "The Flames of Disaster" came from a fire demon. The Black Arms being aliens and "Black Arms" being a robot are totally different concepts. If anything it's much closer to just being one of the GUN robots fought in Sonic Adventure 2, but even that is a pretty big stretch. I wouldn't be surprised if any references to "Black Arms" on concept art are complete coincidence.
>>43214 The way the movies reference the game is pretty shallow in general
>>43215 And yet it's still deeper than the ways the games reference themselves.
>>43217 If by "the games" you mean Frontiers only
