>>43559 Only if I can make it funny and not try hard. Don't think I'm too good for certain jokes yet, there's still more comics I want to make.

Wanted to do my half-yearly attempt at a nic, one day I'll get him on-model..
>>43631 I love this art style. The proportions need some work but the shading is fantastic anon! Please do more
>>43631 very Adventure!
>>43632 >>43633 thanku mwah >Please do more Sooner or later, I wanna keep trying until I draw a Sonic that could pass for official
>>43631 I always like the classic Uekawa shading
>>43634 >I wanna keep trying until I draw a Sonic that could pass for official I love when people do that.
>>43631 That's a good nicca my friend. Your model is so close, I don't think there's anyone working on Sonic officially that really even gets that close anymore.
>>43640 Uekawa is still drawing for Sonic regularly, his style just changed over the years
>>43641 I'm going to be very sad the day he retires. That said I wish they used his artwork more while he's still working on Sonic.
>>43645 The series gets all this amazing art on Sonic Channel, but most of the game cover arts use 3D renders for some reason
>>43647 I think they maybe consider it too niche. Kinda like the rock music which is still kinda there but not as prominent anymore, they only use it together with the older content that it was initially related to.
>>43649 *Warning, turn back now if you don't have autism* I've been looking a ton at how Uekawa draws him now compared to how he used to draw Sonic and I honestly am not a huge fan of some of the proportions he draws Sonic now. Well, a better way to put it is, I like some parts of how he draws Sonic now more than how he used to, but there are some parts I heavily dislike compared how he used to draw Sonic. Best I can explain is with example here The darts pictures is an egregiously bad example, Don't get me wrong, it's by no means bad at ALL, Uekawa is an incredible artist, It's just for the sake of comparison. I like how he draws sonic's body still. he looks more built now for lack of a better word. His limbs are thicker, he's less curvy, he looks more like he has bones. I like having bone structure even for Mobians, I don't like getting super noodly, though sometimes he really looks like a jock to me, like pic 1. The part that bothers me so much is his head. This specific example also makes his head slightly too small, but that;s not usually an issue, it's sized fine here >>43645 and pic 3. It's just the shape of his muzzle and the width of his head overall. It's much less round and much wider. His eyes don't curve into his muzzle as much and his muzzle has more of a > shape at the edge. I kind of like the > shape, but I don't like how wide the muzzle is and how much bigger the nose has also gotten at times. His face just looks kind of squished and it tickles my autism. 2nd is much different. He's much rounder and his body looks more lean, smaller chest. Bigger, rounder muzzle, rounder eyes, it just didn't have a lot of the stylized blockiness he has now. I like his face overall a lot more here, and the body feels leaner and more flexible, which might just be because of the old posing, but he really doesn't get drawn as noodly as he used to I feel like. Granted, sometimes Sonic would be drawn too noodly for my tastes, but Uekawa quickly struck a fine balance, and still kind of does, again he's amazing. It's not really better or worse, it's really just a matter of preference. 3rd again, squished face, very built body. It still looks so fucking good, but comparing it to all the classic Uekawa art, there's a really clear difference, and I just have a preference towards the older style overall even if there are parts I like more about how Sonic is drawn now in this style. Granted I drew kind of a freaky amalgamation between the two because of my preferences, but I'm an amateur lol, I'll get it right someday.

>>43408 >>43655 Sorry, I forgot to link to the request anchor.
>>43650 I agree with a lot of what you outlined, I also noticed the changes over the years. Overall I'm not too annoyed by them and I also understand that over the span of so many decades things will necessarily change, whether because the artist has different preferences or ways of doing things or to shift things around a bit so that they don't get stale. What does annoys me a bit sometimes is that Uekawa sometimes now draw Sonic in a way that makes certain parts look stiff, which is specially noticeable on the hands. A lot of times he draws Sonic's hands like he's doing some sort of military salute for some reason, specially his fingers, like on the 3rd picture in your post. The lines are also sometimes nowhere near as rounded as they used to be and begin to have sharp edges like his chest on the first pic. Oh and the shading, they've experimented with different (but similar) shading styles over the years but like with the proportions, poses, and lines, no one comes close to the older one. They seem to make small changes every year but fortunately not going very far from the starting point. outside of maybe the period around Forces which was fucking awful. Overall I still really love his art and style and wouldn't ever change it. I'm happy that over the years it seems people have started noticing how good it is even more and making more art like it.
>>43631 >>43634 This pretty much looks official already, you did an amazing Job.
>>43674 That's awesome lol
>>43674 That's cool! And a lot more elaborate than I would have imagined. I remember like 10 years ago someone wanted to do one for another character, I think it was Nicole. It didn't go anywhere.
Quick silly doodle from last night. I still read these books.

Today's december 6th, which is Mina's birthday according to one of the Archie Sega data files (Day 340), so I prepared some stuff. Happy birthday to my Beautiful mongoose wife. I got inspired to make my own Mina destkop buddy due to recent events, you can download it here (You'll need Java to run it): https://mega.nz/file/P4Q1HLIB#1LOy9Xa-roT9MUn4WXCr27Z766zgXWyrBXdgRWHN9jw Slightly offtopic to this thread but I also had a Crossworlds mod made, you can download that here (She replaces Amy): https://mega.nz/file/ChIz0YKQ#-GWGeCYa-Muur4YMC7djW4smjWvaAVkMVxhYoYUspoU

This style is rly fun to draw, I def wanna do more sooner or later. She's meant to be a governess; I thought it'd fit since she used to be a babyistter
>>43922 you did an excellent job replicating the style just like your uekawa sonic. any chance of you drawing bump or sage in this style?
>>43922 These look great on the thumbnails, but when made bigger I just kinda hate the texture, it feels noisy. >>43923 I would not mind seeing a Bump like this. Specially with a cute outfit like that one!

>>43924 >>43923 Thank u thank u >any chance of you drawing bump or sage in this style I'd def be down to try sometime. Does anyone have any suggestions for which roles would suit them? >it feels noisy I did originally have the opwcity of the texture lower, but I tried to match it more with the official sprites. I like how it looks but I see where you're coming from
>>43926 >story Man, I really miss TMoSTH. >Does anyone have any suggestions for which roles would suit them? Can't think of any right now but I'll keep thinking.
>>43930 I thought they would make some kind of follow up, but it's been a while, so maybe not

More style copying w my muse
>>44031 amazing
>>44031 Mina is such a cute. If there's one character from the Archie comics that I believe can definitely fit in the modern Sonic cannon design and personality wise, it's definitely her. She definitely has that anime-like design to her, similar to Honey the Cat and Amy.
