Looks like half chan broke again. So expect some activity if it last into the afternoon my time.
>>6814 This seems to be happening a lot lately.

Great game right here.

>>6816 Yeah, I quite enjoyed it myself.

>>6815 It also seems to be happening here rather often as well.

>>6822 But that would actually involve playing a video game!

>>6826 I thought 8ch posters actually played games. This isn't half chan. You're not a halfchanner, are you anon?
>>6821 It's pretty fun, so go ahead.
>>6827 Get with the times gramps! LPs, walkthroughs, and playthroughs are the way forward. Why play a game when someone can do it fo you. You get all of the experience and free water cooler talk at a fraction of the effort

>>6832 How?… Do you get bored to the point you can't do something people do to get rid of their boredom? Did this generation just lost free will or something?
>>6833 >lost free will We're all slaves to Robotnik , man. But really, I highly recommend anon plays Petit Hedgehog & even give Sonic Chaos-16bit a try. They're pretty fun & easy to pick up/play games
>>6833 >this generation whatever generation a 29 yo falls in. I watch way more games than playing or buying them despite having an extra three hundred shekels to blow it on whatever and having a four day work week
>>6835 >whatever generation a 29 yo falls in. But I'm 25 and I play games all the time when I'm bored. Even when I'm not bored. What did you even do back in the early 2000s, before YouTube even existed when you got bored if you weren't playing any kind of game?

>>6836 not that anon but watch TV and browse message boards which my blazing 11kb/s dial up connection
>>6838 Why has that happen to you though? Is it really that common for people to do today? I guess because I make stuff, I don't like wasting time watching stuff instead of making or testing stuff when it's game related imo…
>>6840 I'm not sure exactly. I guess maybe playing a game somehow feels like putting forward an effort towards something instead of "pure" chill time with watching it be played. I absolutely love starfox 64 and Sonic 1, but I haven't gotten all the way to the end of either in months. And new games tend to be one and done for me so I'm not surprised about them
>>6841 Hmm, learn something new everything then. Thanks for explaining anon

>>6845 >You'll never jam out with Jun
>>6850 I think you could do that at Summer of Sonic at one point.
>>6833 I… don't know. I don't want to turn this into blogposting but part of it might be because of the depression I've been diagnosed with (that I still don't believe) and the other part is that most games aren't fun for me anymore because nothing really catches my attention. Nintendo at least has different games from others but even with Nintendo a statement I feel really applies to any one of their franchises to some degree is "if you've played one, you've played them all". Also there is no Adventure 3 :( and :( there :( never :( will :( be :( so that's a problem for me.
>>6852 Why do you want an Adventure 3? Even I didn't want an Sonic 4 despite 3K being my favorite game, so I was more pissed that shit came out like it did instead of wanting some stupid sequenced title. What would an SA3 even be? Eggman being playable in a Mech? Tails in a Mech, instead of like in SA1? Omega replacing Gamma? Everything about that era is as outdated as Genesis era is. The only people that like Mania are that era of Sonic fans and newcomers that just like Sonic anyways. And it didn't even make as many sells as Unleashed or Generations. I know some people in the fanbase wants something from the past, but after Mania came out, I officially want a new era of Sonic. The meme generation was just shit because it's the meme generation, not being Sonic being a memelord is bad. 2010s fucking sucks for adults. But hopefully the 2020s will yield something better for Sonic to inspire from. Something both new ""and"" good, and specifically, don't pander to the fanbase.
>>6853 >What would an SA3 even be? not that anon but I think people who want SA3 just want more fully 3D Sonic/Shadow levels. Maybe Tails as he played in SA1 but more refined. Perhaps Knuckles too but without the treasure hunting. So just gliding/climbing around to explore and reach the end of the stage. Kind of like his gameplay in 06 but not horrible. Also a big story with high stakes, important characters being present and useful but not necessarily playable (like Amy in SA2), high quality soundtrack with multiple genres, etc. your usual requested Adventure non-gameplay elements. Maybe a Chao garden too. No Wisps or 2D sections like in the post Colors games. When people ask for a SA sequel they usually just want the good parts of SA1/2.
>>6854 So my question is, why must this be SA3? Is there no other game before Colors that fits that narrative? 06/Unleashed to me had far better music quality wise, Mania being a closer second if you just looked at it by itself instead of what it's referencing. If you had to break it down to "how Tails/Knuckles" and others played in SA2, just say "Sonic with unique abilities" which is what they were in SA1 with Tails, both that and SA2 with Knuckles, and how Amy, Metal, Tikal, Chaos, Rouge and Shadow were in SA2. Which isn't just a Adventure exclusive thing, it's been a concepts since Sonic 2. And story also isn't a SA standard either. Argubly, ShTH, 06, and Unleashed (even the story book games) all were serious stories. And with all due respect, Forces was a serious story. It just wasn't written with competence to make it feel genuine. At this point, this is why I don't ask for Sonic 4/5/Mania 2. I don't want sequeled titles anymore, they honestly add more problems then fix, and the only times it's disregardable is when you handle it like Final Fantasy, where it's actually not connected to the last title narratively. My point being this, none of these elements are "Sonic Adventure" it's 3D Sonic in the late 90s/early 2000s. That's the Sonic fans like this SHOULD be asking for, not just form one point in time that just gives you shit like Sonic 4. Don't ask for "Sonic 3K sequel". Ask for more Sonic like Sonic 3K, or better, like the genesis era as a whole. That's how you get Mania instead. But really, this is just me stating the same comments about this topic everytime it's brought up. I get why people want this, but it makes no sense since we've been in this shitty rehashing rut for 10 years. You'd think if you really want Sonic to do better, we'd stop asking for the old eras of Sonic again and ask for better, newer eras to care about instead. At its core, a Sonic game like Utopia/Islands is fine enough for gameplay reasons, but give me a game with completely new levels/zones/locations? I'd chose that over anything else, just to have something new again for Sonic.
(26.59 KB 1105x719 ultimate salt form.jpg)

>>6854 This, basically. It's not about nostalgia, that's something I tire of in games and, as you could guess, is one of the things I don't enjoy with Nintendo games but I guess I didn't make that clear. I just really like 3d games with freedom of movement and more open environments. I really liked the physics and controls of Adventure 1 specifically. I guess I don't want Adventure 3 specifically, just another Adventure formula game. >No Wisps or 2D sections like in the post Colors games. >No Wisps or 2D sections >No 2d sections Especially this, I fucking hate how half of any given Sonic game is in 2d. Pic very much related. If I wanted a 2d Sonic game I could just play an old Sonic game, a handheld one, or Mania. >>6856 I think you're overthinking this.
>>6856 It doesn't have to be SA3. It's just easier for people to say SA3 instead of a long list of features they want from SA1/2. When more people are asking for that one same thing, it's more likely to get noticed. One person asking for "Sonic levels in SA2", another asking for "story, SA gameplay, Chao Garden," someone else saying "fully 3D gameplay", etc. is likely to confuse Sega/Sonic Team since they're fairly incompetent. Hopefully by seeing the requests for SA3 and understanding the backlash against the disliked extra gameplay styles in SA1/2/06/Unleashed, Sonic Team will figure things out and go from there. Doubtful but it's possible I guess. Also there was no "Classic Sonic" or "Modern Sonic" for over a decade. People never thought to use the term "Adventure Sonic" to refer to Adventure gameplay. People have been asking for SA3 for 17 years and it's stuck. Even if people actually just want the Sonic/Shadow levels and Adventure-like elements, they're still just going to call for SA3.
>>6857 Well that makes sense, though I really think fans have handled 3D gameplay better. Level design, sure, isn't something the fans done super well as of yet, but it's kinda hard for me to see "real freedom" like you suggest from that era when most of the game had automation that was used for spectcles. And imo, I don't really want a super open 3D space that has confusing layoffs (like Utopia) but something that lets me take advanage over the terrian to go fast, explore, and platform. Something that's been a thing in lots of Sonic games, outside and inside the Adventure era Has anything even try and 3D games not made by SEGA? What were you last played 3D Sonic games anyways
(916.56 KB 923x704 1427502128364.png)

>>6853 >The only people that like Mania are that era of Sonic fans and newcomers that just like Sonic anyways I don't think I've seen enough people that disliked Mania to be able to draw conclusions. Mania was pretty much universally acclaimed. >But hopefully the 2020s will yield something better for Sonic to inspire from God damn it feels awful thinking that we're gonna get to the 2020's and we're still going to be wishing we got a solid game. >>6856 You should have realized by now that it doesn't matter what you ask or how you ask it, that's not going to get you anywhere. Unless you make a scientific specification of a game for Sega to follow, they are probably going to miss the mark because they just don't really care to be detailed and thoughtful with the things that they make, so they are going to just put black eyes on Sonic and call it a day if you ask for more Genesis-era Sonic games, with no regard to what makes the classic games what they are. Even if everyone actually went and asked them in person for Sonic 4, it still wouldn't be acceptable for them to come up with the game that ended up being named Sonic 4. Even though I agree it's about time Sega starts creating original content for Sonic to give some much needed fuel to the franchise, there's nothing preventing old concepts being reused in a way that's fun, the problem is that Sega sucks at making things that are fun, even when dealing with proved concepts, and that's why we're in the state we currently are.

last bumb before bed. Goodnight /sthg/.

>>6854 > just want more fully 3D Sonic/Shadow levels *raughter* try Amy and Knuckles Tails and Sonic as the 4 characters
(41.14 KB 480x360 wq-p0_aSHok.jpg)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wq-p0_aSHok Did you know the Bean the Dynamite character was based off of Pin and Bin "Dynamite Dux" characters; and Bin is canonically Bean's father? Did you also know that in the original game if you change a line of the hex code you get an opening of a girl getting kidnapped by a black pimp to his brothel and Bin and Pin stop masturbating each other to go to said brothel? I can never look at Bean the same way again.
>>6864 Well, shit. Also, good morning /sthg/
>>6865 Morning anon.
>>6864 I didn't even know that game existed. How much outrage was unleashed when it became known that was actually in the game? If that happened today it'd take a whole company down. It's pretty funny that wikipedia only mentions a "dirtier" opening cutscene, it sounds massively downplayed.
>>6868 People thought it was just a rumor for the longest time cause nobody knew how to actually trigger the scene. Even after people found the sprites in the game the scene itself was a mystery, and it literally took decades until people managed to code it so it plays the cutscene - 10 months ago, to be precise. (Also it only exists in western home computer ports).
>>6864 Something about watching that with the Sega 1988 above it makes it just a bit funnier. >>6869 I was going to ask if this was added a by European team or something judging by the English used. Makes sense as something added by a Euro port team in the late 80's/early 90's.
(774.28 KB 958x1846 BumpTheGoth-Spikes.png)

(367.93 KB 1500x1019 BumpSageIceCream.png)

Also someone last thread asked if I could add spikes to my Bump Goth drawing so I did. I hope this is what you were thinking. And here is a rough Bump and Sage with ice cream sketch.
>>6871 Cute stuff
>>6871 Yes, yes it was, I love you. Sage is too happy in second pic.
>>6869 (Also it only exists in western home computer ports). That makes it sound like it was the Americans that made that scene then. And considering today's stagnation issues among other races, it would make a lot of sense. I've seen some shit that really shouldn't be in games in my time being on the Internet, but I sure didn't know SEGA pulled shit like that either.
>>6873 Sage deserves to be happy.
>>6875 Sage deserves to be bullied and have her ice cream fall to the ground.
>>6871 Cute stuff. >>6876 Rude
SEGA pretty much already wrote the comics off as worthless.
I hope there's no Sonic Mania follow-up, just to see the fanbase shit itself in anger
Is it me or Sonic had more adult themes and experimental risks early on than it does now?
>>6880 They stopped taking risks after Colors
>>6881 I think he meant shit like Rouge's tits and 06's beastiality.
>>6878 That could be a good thing or a bad thing. It feels like they have that shit locked down hard right now.
>>6879 They probably don't even need a follow up. I'm sure they could just keep milking Mania's success for at least another 2 or 3 years and still be fine
>>6871 Nice sketch. I want ice cream now.
>>6882 No I'm talking about in the 90s
>>6886 You're going to have to explain, because that could either Sonic CD or Sonic Adventure. Both very different.
>>6887 >Madonna as Sonic's big tittied girlfriend before it got scrapped >Sonic being drawn smoking a cigar on one of the SOJ's doodles >Sexual connotation between Sara/Metal Sonic/Knuckles/Sonic >Sexual connotation between Amy/Anton/Nicky in the manga >More neutral or villain type of characters; everything wasn't power of friendship >Characters were more powerful >on SoA side; Archie, Satam >on Sega of Europe; Fleetway, their comics Thats just on top of my head It's way more childish now
(49.72 KB 479x555 sshades.jpg)

Why does Amy paired with anyone else but Sonic make him look like a cuck? Only her being with Knuckles looks "normal". However, this effect is not shown with Sonic x anyone but Amy. Strange.
I still think the solution to 3D Sonic is to have a Tony Hawk esque objective system.
>>6888 All of that still existed up to Sonic 2006. And all of that is thanks to it being all Japan approved, which isn't acceptable in the states. The low hanging fruit answer is the 2010s of culture that Sonic has absorbed in has made him not as "riske" as he "once was". But again, that's not Sonic's fault, it's American culture that's this way now.
>>6890 How can this be added into a story esque system though?
(22.39 KB 480x360 QBinv6Gi1qI.jpg)

(11.60 KB 480x360 VnR3W4gAQVE.jpg)

>>6891 Why does American culture suck so bad right now? It's so fucking lame and inoffensive. US culture was great in the 70s,80s,and 90s.
>>6895 And by 2000s? Got buttfucked by Arabs. They were all high and mighty, until they got caught with their tails between their legs. They lost pride.
>>6894 I like how the badniks are pretty much just as threatening as the ones in Forces.
>>6896 How does America get their pride and coolness back?
>>6898 We get a leader that is neither a liberal cuck nor an idiot that opens his mouth without thinking. I'd vote for Eggman, at this point. He'd probably be better than the last three or four presidents we have. And he's got a basis in Teddy, which helps.
(45.49 KB 1024x768 1516049063851.jpg)

>>6899 That's freaky, you just made me remember I had a dream last night where at some point Eggman's name was dropped as a "former President" at one point. Of course I just disregarded as anything but "oh ok, must being dreaming then" but your comment made me remember that…
>>6900 I know this sounds hilarious and random in retrospect, especially with all the "I had a dream" and "deja vu" moments sthg (and apparently now this place, too) has, but I noticed me and other Sonic fans tend to think on the same wavelength and sort of bounce off each other's energy… is that weird or what? I-is it the power of our hedgehog autism?
>>6901 It's because we're Sonic Heroes!
(52.50 KB 600x648 302.jpg)

>>6901 Well whatever it is, I wished it was used to make Sonic have good games again…
(197.65 KB 212x231 ed0.gif)

>>6895 Truth be told, every decade we see people complain about how the culture of the current decade is worse than previous decades. In 10 years time, you're gonna have people saying the 2020s sucked compared to the 2010s etc. But to bring this back to Sonic, the franchise has always for better or worse been a bit of a time capsule of the period it was in. In the 90s it brought a lot of new things to the table that changed the industry & had a coolness about him, but it also suffered from a lot of bad decisions that would later bite it in the ass & the 90s "2cool4skool" attitude doesn't age too well for some people. 2000s had a bit of a darker & (for lack of a better word) edgier vibe but also built on what was established in the 90s which brought some fun stories, but it also had a lot of dumb shit in a vain attempt at trying to be "taken more serious," which just made the franchise look stupid. The 2010s would see the Sonic franchise decide to dial back on the edge it had in the 2000s which at first, wasn't too bad of an idea as the light-hearted tone of games like Colors was a bit of a breath of fresh air. But all the same, the series would become almost obsessed with memes & self-deprecation at its biggest fuck-ups without really learning from it & the lighter tone would go so far that it's hard to really give a shit about any of the stories in the franchise right now. It's trying so hard to avoid falling into the pitfalls it fell into in the previous decade, but it's now falling into new pitfalls born out of a lack of ambition in certain titles or ambition just not being given the proper chance to show itself & a newfound love of nostalgia for its "glory days" of the 1990s, which has been a major blessing & a curse. It's been a blessing in the sense that the right people understanding what made the games in the 90s so good gave us Sonic Mania, but we're also seeing what happen when a love for the past & nostalgia is used by people that either don't get or can't properly showcase what made its older games work with Classic Sonics gameplay in Generations & Forces, as well as the constant abuse of Green Hill Zone, etc. This, among many other things makes the franchise feel as if it's struggling to really find its identity & what SEGA want Sonic to be going forward. The 2020s is gonna be an interesting time for the franchise, to say the least.
>>6903 We should fund our own Sonic cartoon I'm serious.
>>6902 lol
(10.98 KB 480x360 1qVfBEUGxeo.jpg)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qVfBEUGxeo >>6905 I know it's not something that's can be done with the snap of a wrist, but I'd be fine with some fan animation, even if it was like 3 min shorts like Mania Adventures. My proposal? It has to be based on the look of pic related… Nah, video related.
>>6907 lol I remember I wanted this. I'm thirsting for a Sonic cartoon too though. Cartoons aren't very action-adventure or engaging these days…however.
>>6908 Do you mean as a anime or the game itself? Did you play Riders? The first was the only good one imo
>>6908 My hope is that Sega gets Netflix to develop a Sonic cartoon. They won't mistreat it like Cartoon Network did for Boom and would probably try to make it good since they're trying to expand its list of Netflix Exclusive series to get people to subscribe. It also has a chance of not being like 90% of kids' shows since they seem to like putting nonstandard stuff in their shows. Perhaps for Sonic that would mean more action scenes instead of simple slapstick and character development instead of nothing but jokes and references.

>>6937 he kind of was in Unleashed
I feel like Unleashed was the last game Sonic had a change to become great again. But no one wanted to give him a change anymore thanks to 06. It's sad. It's the last time Sonic and his team had passion anymore.
>>6937 Sonic is not allowed to have expressive feelings. Non-generic happy emotions are prohibited.
>>6943 This is an exaggeration over that stupid mandate. It's only talking about exaggerated and out of character amounts of emotion like bitch crying or suggestive looks or something. That issue in Archie, the cover, the one you should know, is where and why that mandate was created.

>>6944 >out of character According to the SEGA of today, Sonic's character is always cheerful and determined, never able to express more anger than moderate annoyance and unable to express any amount of sorrow. He's got less personality than Mickey Mouse, now.
>, never able to express more anger Lost World? He was "pissed" pretty much so compared to any game in the series, maybe next to Sonic Riders. His character, emotion wise, never chance, you just have shitty directors and shitty actors not doing the emotions justice. Here's some trival, if you ever read about the story of how Ryan Drummond and how much shit the Japan execs were giving him on how he should be voicing Sonic's lines, you'd realize Ryan did a great job, but Japan hated it. Roger isn't great for many westerners, but Japan thinks it's right. It's how the direction is, which isn't anything different from Adventure era, from Japan's side of things. Reminder, the Japans have the exact same VA cast since SA1. Nothing changed. They all sound the same there, so it's how the west handles it that makes it feel like its different to you.

>>6965 I don't like Shadow fans.
>>6957 I hope something cool and original comes out of SA2 modding. Even games with much bigger modding scenes and mod capabilities have troble with that.
>>6969 Which games are you referring too? Is it Forces? And yeah, I'm planning to be one of the first to mod in custom levels that actually allows the gameplay of speed with physics be realized and not force in so many narrow and linear level design elements I see in that very video. That one people Sonic rolls down a slope without scripting, just before a loop was the best thing I've seen in a long time in 3D Sonic, and tbf, there are levels in SA2 that allows this, but it's never done within any form that isn't automated or just "45 degree angle and that's it".
>>6970 None in particular, but mods (in 3D Sonic) tend to be either imported levels, which can be pretty cool but to my knowledge there aren't many good ones; asset replacements, which aren't so cool to me; or bug fixes, which are nice and useful, but they don't add anything new to the game. In general it feels like there's a lot of effort in making tools to mod games but not a lot of output in terms of what gets created. Is the mod creator going to release a way to mod more maps into the game in some way? It looks like for now it's just the level itself. >>6957 Is the Big Easter Egg actually in the original game? I don't have the game handy to try it. Having an underwater section in Emerald Coast sounds fun.
>Comment 1 I think it's because everyone in the Sonic fanbase doesn't understand what is the most important thing in a Sonic game. Some do, but most don't, and even if some have their views on what makes Sonic gameplay good, many people don't and cause flame wars. >Comment 2 It's a wip, it's extremely hard to get SA2 to edit levels, if at all it's a breakthrough for the community this guy cracked the code to import SA1 stages in the first place. But he did say, among many Retro members plan to do when it happened, once this gets more streamlined and fully customizable, yes, you'd edventually be able to import anything for stages, offical old stages or your own. Granted, no you can't just mod in Generations levels into SA2 1-to-1 obviously, but the idea of OC stages is set for future planning. It's only cut out in the Gamecube version of SA2. Every other version of SA2 has it actually still intact. Try it for yourself on Steam if you don't believe me.
>>6968 Rude.
Which world does Sonic World Adventure take place in?
>>6975 Post Human world. Not the same one as the Adventure-06 world. From Colors-Forces it's "Sonic's World". Generations doesn't count, it was in the void of timelines, not just in one world.

>>6977 Ok, that was not called for, I'm jus going by SEGA's rules. Don't shit on me, I don't actually want 2+ worlds.
>>6979 Sorry, I thought you were someone else. I wouldn't really call it SEGA's rules, though. Them choosing to omit humans from the recent games doesn't mean they're gone or in a different world altogether.
>>6980 Well, as much as I'd like to believe that, Kishimoto blatantly stated Forces was meant to be seen as a world "alien" to the rest of the series, with the whole alien text on buildings card.
>>6972 Cool of him if he plans to eventually release his findings. It'll certainly be interesting to see what stems from that. >It's only cut out in the Gamecube version of SA2. I don't know how I didn't see it before, I remember specifically fucking around that area a lot.
>>6982 Oh wait, did you meant SA1? My bad, I thought you meant SA2. EC doesn't have Big cameos (likely because he was playable), it's something he likely did since City Escape had Big in the background as a cameo and just moved him to that location after making the mod. >>6985 Well besides what the post below you said, the reasoning was because no one bothered to learn how to mod Generations because 4/sthg posters are, to be blunt, shit at doing anything game related. They don't really care about Sonic from that side of the fanbase, unforatently. (Yes I know, it's not ALL of them, but most is a good wager since they rather shitpost instead of be servicable to the community like other communities) But truth be told, you could have modded her into the Bumper Engine created by Green Hill Paradise Anon (GHP for short) although he once said him doing it would take a while because the game's rigging is based on Generation's modding, so it's "hard" to make it work in Generations and "harder" to go straight to BE instead. But yeah, >>6986 like he said, there once was someone that did something with both Bump and Sage's models, but he vanished, likely because of the state of 4/sthg/. Webms related.

>>6987 Bump is so god damn cute. Didn't know that anon had left. That's a shame, man. >>6988 I'm not sure what you're trying to say. You can hardly compare a community's OC with a character in an official product.
>>6990 How come? It's not the same thing as Infinite. Why didn't Cosmo get moded into a game? And it took years for people to make and mod in models of the Archie cast into fan and non fan games. And despite all this time, ~3 years now, nothing with Bump has been done. Yet Tangle get's something within months. Not that many people would know/care about Tangle as much more over others, and it's wierd that the tutorial girl doesn't even get a spot in the game outside of that status. If I wasn't a busy man doing commissions for a living and could get my fear over Unity's C++ language, I'd add her in BE by now. Maybe if I could get the time I'd mod her into Generations or even the PC "port" of Unleashed someday, but it's just weird to me other characters just get acknowledged over others like this.
>>6991 It tends to happen, tbh. I think there was a Tangle in Generations thing so it was probably easier to put her in the BE as opposed to Bump, who hasn't been in anything 3D as a playable. Outside of anons project, which unfortunately wasn't completed.

>>6992 I did look but I got nothing on any mods of Tangle in Generations. I also forgot to mention, you can also use Sonic World's ringging because that too is based on Generations rigging. Some other anon from 4/shth/ one time found this out after ripping the World models himself, but has long since vanished after he uploaded the models to sthg, bless him. Maybe there's a mod for Tangle in World, as I know there is one for Infinite by now.

>>6994 There should be a white "-" on the upper left corner of the player to close it. It's embeds that I don't think you can close.
>>6995 Nah, you got it right, it worked for me. Thanks anon.
>>6991 It's a matter of something being liked by the right person (that is, one with the knowledge of how to get things done) enough to actually want to put effort down to create something about it. But what I was getting at is that Bump is just /sthg/'s mascot, which is not even that big of a community. As much as I love her, she's not very relevant, specially compared to official characters. Tangle is in the actual comic and got a lot of publicity for her reveal, remember? That doesn't necessarily mean she was going to get into fangames before other characters, but I would think that would increase chances. I wish I could get off my ass and code something for you guys
>>6997 I guess that makes sense. I guess I'm more buttmad over the fact how 4/sthg/ seem to carry the worse case of lazy ass out of many fan communities I've ever sense, while basically having many gamedevs give them tools and chances to do something with them, only to do jack shit with them. **** If anything, what erks me most is that the only thing people praise there is art and artfags, most the them being shitposters themselves. Idk what to say, but right now, art is the last thing Sonic needs to stay relevant. for every nice drawing of Sonic's cast we get, 100 drawings of nasty shit comes in to ruin it. If games like Utopia and Islands just got more support, alone with other projects like Studio and Infinity, I bet things would at least look good somewhere from Sonic; the fan community.
I could do an animation.. no dice on games though.

>>7000 Oh, that's pretty cool. >>6997 >Spoiler Same. I love the drawfags & everything, but I've always wanted to see more fangame-related projects coming out of /sthg/ (this one or the other). (12.53 KB 480x360 ynVM0ISKBPk.jpg)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynVM0ISKBPk Question. Does this seem like good level design to you? This looks like if you made Sonic 2 level design but always had the speed shoes with SA1 tier floatiness. Idk why, but I don't want the feeling of constant speed in Sonic, that's the issue with the boost games, it's too expensive without making it last like 20 secs. But I'm also not trying to confuse myself with speedrunning, which this video clearly shows. In those case yeah, you can basically beat any level in like 10 secs typically.
>>7002 Hmm, I can see where you're coming from. If you're just blasting through everything with little effort it doesn't feel as rewarding as earning that kind of speed & avoiding all types of obstacles, enemies, traps, etc. Not really referring to the vid you posted in this instance, since that's a speedrun as you pointed out.. I don't hate the Boost titles, but to me, I always feel like those games need more challenge than what they usually give. Something that makes you "Boosting like a maniac" feel more like a reward.

>>7016 >>7018 Sega almost never misses holiday release dates when it comes to Sonic. I wonder if they're delaying it because of Pokemon Let's Go and SSB both releasing so close to TSR. I thought it was said on Retro, Generations content couldn't work one to one because it didn't feature that "processing stage culling" thing that allowed loading huge stages like in Gens to be possible in Forces. Guess Sonic Team was just more lazy instead. And imo, it's just showing how garbage their new lighting engine looks, but I'll be fair and say it's not done yet. But I'm STILL mad no one has modded the camera to actually function right when playing the freaking game yet. Don't understand why.

(41.33 KB 480x360 P8S176RmRJg.jpg)

>>7084 I quit after Generations but came back in 2016. I was excited for Colors but hated it and couldn't understand the praise. I disliked the level design and slow 2D sections. When Generations came out and Modern Sonic was mostly 2D again despite Classic Sonic being in the game, I was disappointed. When it and Colors both got great scores and praise, I knew nothing in the franchise would change anytime soon and Sonic just wasn't for me anymore. When Boom came out and seemingly replaced Modern Sonic, I left 'for good.' I don't even know what brought me back. I remember watching the 2016 SXSW panel for whatever reason and getting pissed because it was just memes and a history powerpoint. I went on 4chan to see if anyone else was mad but there were no Sonic threads on /v/. I discovered /sthg/ on /vg/ and have been there since. Then I started playing the older games again, reading the comics, and buying Sonic merchandise and yeah. Somehow Aaron managed to make me hate this franchise so much that I started loving it again.
>>7087 Intesting, yet understanable. I'm assuming you liked and missed the Adventure era, correct? When you said there wasn't any Sonic threads on /v/ at that time, I knw that had to be before Mania was revealed. Interesting how you found 4/sthg/ on your own, but I mean, I'm glad we still have another fan abord. And yeah, although I liked Colors and Generations at the time because "it wasn't 06 tier" (as I'm sure everyone was thinking narritively about Sonic's quality control at the time), but later on I simply had little reason to like Colors as much after Gens (because even then I still thought, and still think, Unleashed was the better game) that Gens was just a better game over Colors, but thanks to like you said, all the 2D gameplay forced everywhere, plus Classic Sonic, I still in the end rather have Unleashed. So with Lost World and now Forces, wew. Definitely felt bad for the series again. What makes it worse is simply now with Mania, half of Generations is render pointless to me, music wise, obvisously gameplay wise, and presentation and faithful wise Mania is over Clasic in Gens. I tolarated C.Sonic in Gens because it wasn't Sonic 4 tier, but fuck me, I can't play any Genesis styled Sonic game that doesn't let me roll to gain speed anymore, it's too ingrained into my mind to do since 1996. And since Boost gameplay is fucked over thanks to Kishimoto, all I have now is Mania. And that is what I get with you here, since arguably Sonic Unleashed, Sonic hasn't had complete 3D gameplay for 10 years. This hybrid shit isn't working anymore (and imo, never had. Fuck IGN)
>>7082 Thank you!
>>7089 I wanna see the pic, post it here for those of us that don't go to the other site. >>7084 Technically I'm kind of in a quitted state right now. I've mentioned this a few times, but over time they gradually phased out all the things I liked about the franchise until there was very little for me to care about: the games turned rather boring and it was clear they weren't even trying anymore, they fucked up with the addicting music the series used to have and now it's just poor electronic stuff (while at the same time praising the composer as if he was the best ever and encouraging no change), they ruined the Sonic Channel art (albeit that's kind of back but not completely), and Archie was cancelled (IDW was not out yet when I stopped paying attention to the franchise, but now that it is, I don't like its art or setting anywhere as much as Archie's and the writing seems to be targetting a much younger demographic and comes out as dumb sometimes). The final nail in the coffin was /sthg/ going to shit in late 2017 and the modifications 4chan's jew owner did to the site around the same time. Being on /sthg/ kind of had me hooked up to the franchise since I would read up on news and fanbase developments and the art posted would keep me interested in the characters and lore of the franchise, but the threads turned so bad around that time that they were making me hate the franchise, and there was no sign of change. With the changes suddenly made to 4chan and the rumors of malware spreading on the site, I finally left and started pretty much not paying attention to the franchise anymore. I wouldn't say I'm back since most of the reasons I left for are still valid. Few things they produce are interesting to me, but this place fills a little bit of the void /sthg/ left and I'm back reading a little bit of the news, watching a little bit of art, and interacting a little bit with other fans, so I'm not here nor there regarding the franchise at the moment. The fact that it's such a slow year for news doesn't help.
>>7087 >buying Sonic merchandise What have you been buying anon?
>>7087 >>7088 Hmm, nice. Well what brought you to /fast/, anyways?

>>7092 See >>7090, he basically hit it on the head. 4chan is borderline cancer everywhere you go now, no place on that site that "isn't" porn is worth your time and that's purely infuriating. The anonymity is why I came to 4chan, but it's completely ran by every other site with likes/opinions/shitposting/etc issues and is made worse because no usernames and even worse with shitty mods supporting said behavior. It's terrible. This site is basically pre 2012 half chan at this point, just much slower, but I rather have that than that place anymore. That is not why I came there for. But in regards to sthg, well, like other anon said, it's sadly ran by shitposters. It's a lost cause to me. I used to hope for a "redemption" for that place because of all the hate it got, but it's hard trying to fight anymore, not because the haters were right, they aren't, it's because the ones that say it's bad, ARE the ones making it so. It's obvious. It's just like the "Sonic was never good" idiots, but alas, it's a losing battle. Imo, I might not have drop the series right now like the other anon did, but it's only thanks to Mania. If Mania never happened, and all we had was Forces, yeah, I would have dropped the series again. But the real reason either way, isn't because "Sonic was never good", it's modern Sonic Team that was really never good. Kishimoto is like the worse director this series ever had. For now, my love for Sonic only lies in the hands of the fans. Mania. Utopia. Islands. Studio? Yeah, give me this and I'm ok for now. As much as the Adventure era was a hit or miss for many, even I want some of that back narratively… maybe without all the shit Shadow had for his backstory and keep it more simple about it. But I'd take that over "Le Baldi Mc Nose Hair XDDD"
Y’all think they’ll bring back the Avatar creator in the next Sonic game? Seems like that was the only real positive from Forces.
>>7094 Not for the next game, but I totally see them using it again in a spinoff title
>>7094 They better. It was Forces' best part. That and people are going to expect it now. They used a monkey's paw wish to get more sales and those who purchased Forces for the CAC mode won't buy the next game unless it's in
>>7096 I just hope they improve on CAC if it gets used again. More species, better proportioned bodies, actually giving a variety of bodytypes that can be used, etc.
>>7088 >I'm assuming you liked and missed the Adventure era, correct? Yeah. And even 1995-1998. Sonic 3&K still felt somewhat new and even though we weren't getting any great games during that mini hiatus, it felt like Sonic was still doing great and things were going to get better. >Interesting how you found 4/sthg/ on your own I don't even know how I found it. I didn't know /vg/ even existed. I only went to 4chan for /v/ and a few other small boards. It was by luck I noticed /vg/ on the board list that day >This hybrid shit isn't working anymore I hate it so much. In Unleashed it kind of worked because the 2D sections were usually somewhat fast with interesting camera angles so it still felt sort of 3D in a way. With Colors and later these parts became slow and instead of being infrequent, they made up 70+% of the gameplay. It wouldn't be so bad if they were actually fun like Mania or the other Classic games. I'd still rather them not have them at all of course though >>7091 I bought some plushies, the amiibo, and cleaned up some of my old figurines. There's also a figure from Japan that I keep seeing on ebay that I've been unable to win for a good price >>7092 the shitposting on 4chan got so bad during March/April this year that I started giving up. Someone kept posting about /fast/ and I've been here since. I still go to the other general but I don't post that much there. Just skim and look for news/art/people asking for help on something/etc.
>>7094 I had fun with the Avatar stuff, so I wouldn't mind if they brought it back, as long as they brought the vocal tracks back with them too. It'd also be nice to have a colour picker for items god dammit

>>7090 Here it is since you asked. i had to digitize the color pic with a mouse (because im a poorfag) which is why the lines look improper on some parts.
>>7097 Yeah pretty much this. I know this is semi-related but I find the current design's homogeneity unsettling. The character creator pretty much confirmed all "Mobians" have the same body types and the same head shapes. If anyone remembers, it wasn't like that in the Classic series, not even in that obscure manga. I don't get why they remove more of their animal features [their fangs, their muzzles], while removing what makes them distinctive as well. They make them look so flat and boring. Pic related is probably my favorite Sonic character design because of the use of curves and non standard head and body shapes.
>>7094 I really hope not, but I don't see them dropping it. It fits too well with what they want from the games (kiddie bait).
>>7094 I hope they repurpose it for the main characters instead. Make old characters playable again, with SA1/2 upgrade system you can actually disable/mix and match instead, kinda like how Advance 3 handled it between character team ups.
>>7101 It just falls in line with what they've been doing for years, which is streamlining everything. They have been dumbing down gameplay, level design, art style, music, all of it.
>>7098 I feel you. I feel all the same myself. If Kishimoto team knew how to make boost/Genesis gameplay, I wouldn't be complaining, but him and his newcomer devs suck ass at this. I'd at least take Gens Team, but they are in Mario Olympics hell and is never returning to mainline Sonic.

>>7101 That looks neato anon. The OCs wished they looked as cool and radical as the late 90s/early 2000s era.
>>7107 Honestly they should go ahead and bring that style back. Not the Heese style, which is different and far more cutesy and imo, less skilled and inspired, but this style with just slightly thinner and taller proportions but not too much, and colored eyes. Basically how 3D Sonic was always supposed to be designed like.
>>7108 You mean like this?
>>7110 Yeah something similar, but more stylized and liberal in the design. This is a little too angular and perfected for my taste.
Should Sonic stay 15?
>>7112 I thought he was 16?
>>7112 If he's going to stick with Roger's voice, no. Roger never sounded like a teenager at all. If they get someone better, sure, but many everyone else around his age instead of having 6 year olds or 21 year olds messing around with Sonic.
>>7114 Teenagers can have deep voices though, I don't know why people say he doesn't sound like a teenager.
>>7114 This tbh >>7112 He should be 18-21 tbhfam >>7113 They aged him down
>>7115 I think you listen to Shonen dubs a lot, don't you. It's honestly hard to hear a 3 ft mouse talk like that, most characters his size don't sound like Sonic does today. Before Sonic X he sounded like a 3 ft cartoon animal.
(49.64 KB 472x472 1509323380553.jpg)

I like the Modern cast just the way they are.
>>7112 Just age everyone up a year or two and it'll be fine.

>>7123 Relic was a cute
>>7123 >fourth pic I can just imagine how this came to be. Eggman tells Thunderbolt that he has a top secret spy mission for her, then it turns out it's to pretend to be a little girl and hang out with Cream.
>>7118 Explain what you mean by that.
>>7117 Before Sonic X he sounded like a 20 something year old white male.
>>7127 What? Really? Jaleel white sounded like he was 20? OVA did too? Ryan sounded like he was 15 to me. Jason and Rouge sounded 18+.
>>7128 *Roger
>>7124 Cute and now dead.
>>7127 sonic sounded like a 14 year old black kid and he should always sound like that.
I'm so fucking tired
>>7132 Go to bed, anon.
Sometimes I wonder how many Shadow fans unironically own a Shadow body pillow.
>>7108 Going from Genesis game to Genesis game, Sonic did get progressively slimmer and taller with his shade of blue being increasingly darkened, which is one of the many reasons the hate against the Adventure redesign is so retarded. It's not a redesign at all, rather a natural progression of how Sonic was changing anyway.
>>7135 I think it's due to how sudden of the change was. Maybe if Pocket Adventure was a mainline game instead, maybe people wouldn't have came to that conclusion.
>>7135 Sonic looked better true blue and tan. the best style was Sonic 1 and pre-Sonic 1
Bumb limit reached
>>7083 Damn, I had forgotten about that user interface…
>>7139 You mean the HUD? With the score and stuff during gameplay? Yeah, I hate it too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flPOMQJ-cKc Before we make a new thread soon, what do you think about the homing attack in a 2D game? Seems pointless to me imo.
>>7141 I don't mind the HA as a concept in 3D games, but yeah, I never really saw the need for one in 2D. That being said, that's a nice looking Sonic sprite. What mod is this?

>>7143 >>7145 Sweet. I've really fallen behind on Mania mods over the last few months, I should definitely check this one out.

Bump limit's been hit, which is sweet. New thread will be made later, but for now, I sleep
>>7147 Goodnight anon.
>>7141 Sounds like it would defeat the purpose of the game a bit. I don't know why it doesn't bother me in the 3D games that much. Maybe it's because the 3D games are better built around it but it still doesn't sound like that good of an idea, specially in the abusive way they like to use it. >>7143 >24 >his little nose swings back and forth horizontally with his movement So cute.
