THIS. OP of vid here, I was thinking the same thing. If Sonic needed a cthulhu monster in his universe, at least tie it to the thing that is classified as "the most powerful gemstones in the universe; the Chaos/Master Emerald(s)" and it worked. It made sense, as it wasn't like Chaos existed like this since the beginning, but mystical gems forged from the universe made this happen, instead of having, you know, this omnipotent god symbol used in EVERYTHING involving "le religion god" and just making your work seem uninspired. In fact, that's BEEN Sonic's problem since 06, if not ShTH. Every game before as at least creative thoughts with some references added in (Death Egg, Super forms, etc). But for real, Chaos should have been the only thing to have this all mighty force of power, not Gaia, not Solaris, not even the Time Eater. Just no. At least with Biolizard it was a bio weapon gone wrong and Black Doom being an ancient race of beings is something, but even he wasn't all powerful, just advanced. Having literal symbolism god monster number 5302 is just tiresome and ingenuous when considering how Sonic started as a series. Evil became an issue thanks to Eggman's influences or the misuse of the Chaos Emeralds. Onces you make your universe content other beings with god powers for little reason, shit hits the fan, and not in a good way.
