Gachashit Ghetto - Mobage Galore Anonymous 11/04/2024 (Mon) 06:31:56 Id: 40b83d No. 1034975
Aka be glad (((Tel Aviv))) only knows how to make Raid: Shadow Legends edition. Given how many anons here play these titles and request an area to discuss them beyond Blue Archive >>1034800 (992219), given how many JP devs have fled to mobile as some of their more senile contemporaries chase the dead ESG gold rush, given how the bishoujo market is concentrated in mobage, and given how many players have actually banded together and organized to repel and BTFO globohomo as of late, I think a mini >>>/vmg/ is warranted. As OP I however get to christen it a "ghetto" until somebody else takes over the succeeding OPs. Do note that all discussion related to the technological and industry dynamic shifts these live services (yes they are live services) propose as well as topics directly pertaining to their cross-platform nature (i.e talking about how Aether Gazer is available on both PC and mobile or the number of gacha games on Steam) should be directed to this thread instead >>986877 If you want to discuss, say, how Lies of P and Brown Dust 2 were both developed by Neowiz, or how neato Versus and Relink are as part of Cygames' Granblue Fantasy IP, do it over there. You can talk about Action Taimanin's 4th anniversary, you can't talk about how well it runs on PC here. Non-gacha MMOs should also be directed to the existing MMO thread >>897003 Post memes, post updates to your chosen main gacha, post liveblogs of your playthroughs, post artdumps, post collabs, post obscure JP and about-to-EOS gachas, post about how the fuck match-three RPGs are still on the market, post about Senran Kagura New Link and Dead or Alive: Penis Vacation, complain about drama and monetization and mixed toilet games and girls trying to push their otome bishie gachas, just make your contributions high effort and high quality and try to max out 8chan's 5-file 50MB upload limit. You are allowed to be horny about certain characters, but your posts about them must be substantive (no >>>/vb/ template posting, for example). <geez, are you smug's owner No, I care about digital hygiene and board nettiquette. NEWS AT A GLANCE Going to try to hash out a format since this is very new for 8/v/. >GFL2, the successor to many anons' favorite gacha circa 2017, is set to come to Global this fall with a closed beta test and prereg being held. (Read: they need that gweilo piggu money.) Luckily, they are cranking up that fanservice, of which I won't post yet because this OP needs to cover multiple titles. >Unluckily, the CN state censor department has randomly struck a bunch of gachas with notices to sharpie over their character designs, the most notable of which was Snowbreak, enrager of BPD harpies everywhere, and Path to Nowhere. For the time being, Snowbreak has elected to use the localization toggle as a way to technically comply with said censor wave while still giving its playerbase what it wants; its future is still uncertain though as the devs continue to give Winnie the Pooh the finger. It seems like more and more that CN devs need to move off West Taiwan's mainland if they are to realize their creative and financial ambitions. >In general, the global economic downturn has meant that the gacha market has slowly been contracting on mobile. PC, however, seems to be booming as devs find that players are willing to open their wallets without having to pay Apple and Gulag the provider tax. >Arknights and Nikke are holding their 5.5 and 2nd anniversaries respectively, with both of them making big stinks about how they have new anime projects in the pipeline, never mind how all people remember from Blue Archive airing is Iori's toes getting sucked. >Azur Promilia has started receiving age ratings in Taiwan. >Mihomo has rebranded its Harvest Moon knockoff project from Asteweave Heaven to Petit Planet. >Uma Musume is gearing up for a global release. When? Not clear. This is for umaanon though. >Infinity Nikki is making waves as a big open world gacha that Soyny is banking on to get some crumbs after chasing off every Asian third party in existence. >Persona X, the one with the hag, has been spotted on Steam's database as coming to Global on PC. >Atelier Resleriana seems to want to apologize for Koei Tecmo's egregious globohomo censorship by parading the cast out for the obligatory summer event with bikini and swimsuit costumes. Unfortunately, it doesn't undo the fact that policore safety shorts are being slapped everywhere faster than pedophiles can slap children's asses. >Tribe Nine is a thing. Came and went on Steam Next Fest. >Dead or Alive: Penis Vacation is pushing out Prism onto consoles, but the original gacha still exists in its glory. >I'm going to go out on a limb and start editorializing, because Netease has the unenviable task of trying to sell Destiny Rising to the gacha demographic and it is hilarious. Yes, I'm sure pronouns are going to help it compete with big titty anime girls. --- ///I would put resources to combat gaming and gambling addiction here...if I HAD ANY\\\ Play responsibly and don't pay any money, how about that. Should be the norm but we have an awful lot of newfags here on the younger side who have yet to benefit from elders' experience.
>>1052314 >responsible for Blue Archive To be more precise, they are responsible with distributing Blue Archive in Japan. The game is made by Nexon(Korean company), and distributed by Nexon to all the other regions.
(535.67 KB 799x3099 Gacha revenue.png)

Gacha revenue for December.
>>1056456 For something that "overwhelmingly dominates" Comiket, I am surprised at how little Blue Archive actually earns, compared to other gacha. >Granblue Fantasy not on the list How the mighty have fallen.
>>1056456 Genshin is about to have a second spike in sales.
>>1056475 Is Genshin the most successful gacha? Still $37,795,000 in Nov 2024 and $42,565,000 in Dec 2024.
>>1056463 It's completely lacking in the online social space quality. There's no customization that you can directly flaunt to other players, thus far less incentive for purchases. This is how Hoyo stuff dominates the market.
>>10564 Not on the list but i hope Fellow Moon gets global it's one of the few gachas that i have interest in, it actually looks decent >>1056463 Granblue have throw their fanbase too the ground
>>1056463 It's best to take those revenue charts with a grain of salt (as they're ranked on a global scale, plus the Chinese and Koreans are much bigger spenders in gacha than the Japanese could ever hope to be), but I assume Blue Archive is one of those franchises where the Japanese care more about the characters than the "game" itself. I put that word into brackets in case of BA because, outside of the monthly boss fights and the event challenge levels (which require specific character units to roll, some of them being time-limited no less), there is not much to do with an auto-battle RTS. By comparison Uma Musume is a raising simulator alike to Tokimeki Memorial or Princess Maker, which is a lot more viable gaming genre on mobile. It encourages more easily to do multiple playthroughs as you keep your previously trained horsegirls as 'save states' (which can be used as parent horse for the next training girl to inherit bonus stats and skills). In that sense, it's already more of a game than almost the entirety of gacha including BA. Another thing with BA is that there isn't much interaction with the characters you gained through rolling, besides watching them roaming around in the cafe section (which requires lot of playtime and crafting to earn the furniture no less). In Uma Musume, there is the instant gratification to use the girls in live concerts (all played by different VAs) as well as this closeness to the character you've earned through the training scenario, as each girl has her own story and objectives. But most of all, none of the playable girls in the Uma cast are useless as long as they're trained well. It is quite the opposite of BA that forces you to use the same specific units (like Summer Hanako, Dress Hina, Mika, etc.) over and over again in order to secure a win. Of course, Uma Musume Pretty Derby is not without its flaws (the support card system is actually the meta thing - and you need several dupes of a same card to strengthen its effects) but I argue to say it's a better product all around. I would also say the characters in Uma Musume are overall better and more interesting since their appearances, background, personality, and relationships with the other characters were designed around the actual IRL racing horses (and sometimes their jockeys too) rather than seemingly random choices.
>>1056463 Revenue charts are fake as shit. They're made with Sensortower's ESTIMATED numbers from Android and iOS since they don't have access to the real numbers. Then they assume the CN numbers, usually adding a x2 or x3 to the global revenue and calling that the "CN revenue" and pack it into a nice little package for gacha PVP which reddit and cuckchan eat up for gacha tribalism. They're decent for estimating how a game is doing though. For example, a game near the top is definitely doing great and has more money than they know what to do with while a game near the bottom is definitely struggling. And in the end, none of this ever matters because sometimes people simply want to shit on a game they hate and they disregard everything just to hate on it with Hoyo games being the #1 offender of this.
>>1047250 What happened to that Harry Potter card game gacha? Read it shut down, but not really or something like that

うううおおお お嬢、マジやべー
Any info on that one "Enigma of Sepia" gacha? The one with the almost-legal knockoff characters
>>1063454 That's also why something like Granblue isn't on that list. It has an outdated app that no one uses. They moved official support to the Skyleap browser app which has built in QoL for Granblue. This also means that people would be spending through Mobage or DMM and not the app stores when buying anything in game.
Did you wish her a happy birthday today?
I like Reverse: 1999 mostly due to how it's western-centric despite being made by chinks. The character designs are also very unique, can't say I've seen any other mobage with anything similar. Here are a few examples of summonable/useable characters. One other thing I'll mention is the very consistent stream of content that this game offers. That's another thing which is totally unlike any other mobage on the market. New game modes, almost like they're entirely different games, every content update. And the most curious thing of all is that they're usually just temporarily available. Very refreshing. It's technically a game for himejoshis since it's made by women and mostly features females, but since it's in China, there aren't any canonical gay relationships, meaning it's ripe for straight men to enjoy.
>>1078264 Another cool thing IMO about the game is that there are no Chinese voices. There are two servers, one Chinese and one Global, and the Chinese one has the English voices, but they pride themselves on only hiring VAs who are of the same nationality as the characters they voice. Ties in to the fact that the game likes to focus on all cultures of the world, throughout history. You'll have Greeks voiced by Greeks, Austrians voiced by Austrians, French by French, etc. Cute accents. I personally use the Japanese voices but I am still partial to the English voices, which is totally unlike me.
>>1078262 Didn't the international server fag things up putting in references to trannies that wasn't in the Chinese version?
>>1078288 Probably referring to this character, who is referred to with "they" pronouns not just in the English server but also the Chinese server. Here's a snippet in Chink-nese which refers to Medicine Pocket. If you were so inclined, you could investigate and see that a gender neutral term is used even there to refer to 'him'. >我从不开玩笑。兔毛手袋已经在先前的研究中证明了自己的能力,证明了自己足以胜任这一职务 Want my opinion on it? I think it just means the character is an inanimate object just like some of the other arcanists/characters in the game, and as such, doesn't even have any reproductive organs. Maybe he's a robot. Fuck if I know or care. But I don't subscribe to the transexual bullshit, and I wager the Chinese don't either, so that's my story and I'm sticking with it.
>>1078297 Your Chinese text talks about rabbit fur bags. Is this some slant slang for trannies or something?
>>1052314 >that shitty Blue Archive offshoot which died a week after being announced That shitshow just keeps on giving, with the recent police raids and such.
>>1078304 Did you put it through a translator? The rabbit fur bag is the 'literal' translation of the guy's name but means something different when put together. Don't ask me to explain how chinknese works!
>>1078372 Yeah, that's what I figured happened. Japanese and Chinese tend to share kanji between real words and proper names. And yeah, if you set the translator to "traditional chinese," it will say "it" instead of "him" with reference to the bag.
>>1078297 Maybe character is just meant to be completely genderless >>1078262 Don't really likeit felt way too otome game >but since it's in China, there aren't any canonical gay relationships Yet, considering Honkai Impact 3rd and other games have it, which it was just another motivation to avoid it
>>1078428 >felt way too otome I don't blame you, because I feel that as well. But the story is not poison to me, a biological male, so I haven't found a reason to stop playing yet. Helps that it has some sexy designs and costumes.
>>1078447 I think if there was a male MC i'd have given it a bigger chance, but i don't hold anything against it since they seemed to have a goal with the game instead of grabbing as many players as possible as the main goal.
>>1078457 If we're lucky it'll be a reverse carols Granblue Fantasy situation, where they end up pleasing males more than the original audience of females. Vertin, the MC, is pretty cute. I look forward to her being put in lewd situations.

Kinda neat to see the Uma gacha money goes somewhere good.
https://archive.ph/04M3J https://archive.is/QFWpT After months of EN VAs refusing to work in an attempt to make Mihoyo sign a SAG-AFTRA exclusivity contract, something that will forbid non union VAs from participating (a bad thing since they use both), Mihoyo has had enough and started to cast EN VAs outside of the US for their newest characters and to slowly replace some the old ones, something that the union EN VAs didn't take kindly and started dogpiling the newcomers for stealing their jobs while insulting the fans for calling them out. The mutant in the video (non union VA of Paimon, pretty much the main character of Genshin) sums their attitude pretty well.
>>1084591 Should have just make their gachas with only chink and jap VAs to be honest.
