Gachashit Ghetto - Mobage Galore Anonymous 11/04/2024 (Mon) 06:31:56 Id: 40b83d No. 1034975
Aka be glad (((Tel Aviv))) only knows how to make Raid: Shadow Legends edition. Given how many anons here play these titles and request an area to discuss them beyond Blue Archive >>1034800, given how many JP devs have fled to mobile as some of their more senile contemporaries chase the dead ESG gold rush, given how the bishoujo market is concentrated in mobage, and given how many players have actually banded together and organized to repel and BTFO globohomo as of late, I think a mini >>>/vmg/ is warranted. As OP I however get to christen it a "ghetto" until somebody else takes over the succeeding OPs. Do note that all discussion related to the technological and industry dynamic shifts these live services (yes they are live services) propose as well as topics directly pertaining to their cross-platform nature (i.e talking about how Aether Gazer is available on both PC and mobile or the number of gacha games on Steam) should be directed to this thread instead >>986877 If you want to discuss, say, how Lies of P and Brown Dust 2 were both developed by Neowiz, or how neato Versus and Relink are as part of Cygames' Granblue Fantasy IP, do it over there. You can talk about Action Taimanin's 4th anniversary, you can't talk about how well it runs on PC here. Non-gacha MMOs should also be directed to the existing MMO thread >>897003 Post memes, post updates to your chosen main gacha, post liveblogs of your playthroughs, post artdumps, post collabs, post obscure JP and about-to-EOS gachas, post about how the fuck match-three RPGs are still on the market, post about Senran Kagura New Link and Dead or Alive: Penis Vacation, complain about drama and monetization and mixed toilet games and girls trying to push their otome bishie gachas, just make your contributions high effort and high quality and try to max out 8chan's 5-file 50MB upload limit. You are allowed to be horny about certain characters, but your posts about them must be substantive (no >>>/vb/ template posting, for example). <geez, are you smug's owner No, I care about digital hygiene and board nettiquette. NEWS AT A GLANCE Going to try to hash out a format since this is very new for 8/v/. >GFL2, the successor to many anons' favorite gacha circa 2017, is set to come to Global this fall with a closed beta test and prereg being held. (Read: they need that gweilo piggu money.) Luckily, they are cranking up that fanservice, of which I won't post yet because this OP needs to cover multiple titles. >Unluckily, the CN state censor department has randomly struck a bunch of gachas with notices to sharpie over their character designs, the most notable of which was Snowbreak, enrager of BPD harpies everywhere, and Path to Nowhere. For the time being, Snowbreak has elected to use the localization toggle as a way to technically comply with said censor wave while still giving its playerbase what it wants; its future is still uncertain though as the devs continue to give Winnie the Pooh the finger. It seems like more and more that CN devs need to move off West Taiwan's mainland if they are to realize their creative and financial ambitions. >In general, the global economic downturn has meant that the gacha market has slowly been contracting on mobile. PC, however, seems to be booming as devs find that players are willing to open their wallets without having to pay Apple and Gulag the provider tax. >Arknights and Nikke are holding their 5.5 and 2nd anniversaries respectively, with both of them making big stinks about how they have new anime projects in the pipeline, never mind how all people remember from Blue Archive airing is Iori's toes getting sucked. >Azur Promilia has started receiving age ratings in Taiwan. >Mihomo has rebranded its Harvest Moon knockoff project from Asteweave Heaven to Petit Planet. >Uma Musume is gearing up for a global release. When? Not clear. This is for umaanon though. >Infinity Nikki is making waves as a big open world gacha that Soyny is banking on to get some crumbs after chasing off every Asian third party in existence. >Persona X, the one with the hag, has been spotted on Steam's database as coming to Global on PC. >Atelier Resleriana seems to want to apologize for Koei Tecmo's egregious globohomo censorship by parading the cast out for the obligatory summer event with bikini and swimsuit costumes. Unfortunately, it doesn't undo the fact that policore safety shorts are being slapped everywhere faster than pedophiles can slap children's asses. >Tribe Nine is a thing. Came and went on Steam Next Fest. >Dead or Alive: Penis Vacation is pushing out Prism onto consoles, but the original gacha still exists in its glory. >I'm going to go out on a limb and start editorializing, because Netease has the unenviable task of trying to sell Destiny Rising to the gacha demographic and it is hilarious. Yes, I'm sure pronouns are going to help it compete with big titty anime girls. --- ///I would put resources to combat gaming and gambling addiction here...if I HAD ANY\\\ Play responsibly and don't pay any money, how about that. Should be the norm but we have an awful lot of newfags here on the younger side who have yet to benefit from elders' experience.
ML snowflakes keep losing
>>1109639 I bet at least half of Mihoyo's games "female" audience is trans. As a Genshin Impact player I can confirm this.
>>1117320 Honestly I'd rather deal with homos than the insufferable furries that took root on the ZZZ community. Who the fuck though it'd be a good idea to add tons of furshit to a waifu game? I can't wait to drop that garbage whenever new games come out.
>>1125215 The furshit on ZZZ is cool though. The female furry face could have a better work though. The problem is fujos and tourists that want to eliminate all otaku pandering and hate females characters and male MC
>>1125958 >The furshit on ZZZ is cool though. It's not. Furries are insufferable and think everyone shares their awful fetish so threads for the game tend to be far worse than for every other game since they can actually just get derailed into either furshit or gay furshit since they feel empowered and at home now that they finally have a game pandering to them so now we're dealing with them plus the usual fujos, homos and tourists. It's like someone at hoyoverse thought long and hard about how to make the Genshin/Honkai communities worse and stumbled on adding furry characters to it. I can't wait for the new stuff like Azur Promilia, Ananta or Duet Night Abyss to come out so I can just move to that instead of sharing a space with furshitters and homosexuals.
is this the new /vmg/'s drama thread?
>>1091979 Dramafags are hired indians hired to attack popular gachas
>>1047250 Gfl1 will have an offline version this year for chinks
>>1126027 >gay furshit That only happens in the west community. So it's safe to assume, furries aren't the only problem. but loud burgers are. You can lurk around social media and all the awful takes, trannie spam, censorship demands comes from the US every time.
>Board owner of the /gacha/ board has Zenless Zone Zero as his main game >First thing he does is legalize Zoophilia and Furry porn so it's officially allowed in his board This game and it's players are never ever beating the allegations. What a fucking disaster.
>>1140988 >I need more censorship on my games!!! Why don't you play otome games since you like men so much?
>>1034975 >>Persona X, the one with the hag, has been spotted on Steam's database as coming to Global on PC. No. It got a Steam page for the Chinese version which includes the eventual Japanese version, but that's it. Global will happen, it's obvious, but it has no Steam page nor a release date.

Well since there isn't a thread for Umamusume here yet I might as well post this announcement here: https://nitter.poast.org/umamusume_eng/status/1916479480308420635 I should mention that the JP version is also coming to Steam on the same day which could hopefully mean that Cygames might have a way to deal with the big gap between the two versions.

>>1034975 These "games" are not and will never be a suitable replacement for games like Senran Kagura, Neptunia/pre-2020 Compile Heart games, or Gal*Gun. I know what I had before, and I refuse to support this fucking scam model no matter how much fanservice it throws at me or how many shills tell me it's somehow saving gaming. Give me what I had less than a decade before, and what I know you're capable of, or go to Hell!

>>1272218 Being 4 years behind in content and QoL features is gonna be rough for that version of the game. I also don't think it's gonna meet anywhere the same level of success as it does in Japan considering it's a whole Japanese-only ecosystem between the IRL racing horse culture, merchandise and live events. The fact it's a raising sim game, a type of game that is well known in Japan, is gonna filter a lot of westerners too.

After a prolonged dragging of feet and a last-second intervention of dubious origin, Uma Musume Derby has beaten Blue Archive to the finish line of a global client release in English on Steam and the resurrection of this thread. It now has a smidgen more legitimacy to be discussed on this board. Still to be determined if it's a real game though. umaanon isn't with us anymore now huh
I'm doubleposting, but apparently Purseowner 5X also got approved to release on Steam right this instant. I am lost, but so many gachas being approved to release on Steam at the same time just shows how unfairly Blue Archive got singled out. I honestly should get back in the habit of updating this thread like I used to, although >>>/gacha/ being formed has taken off a lot of eyes. Also I've been nolifing Aether Gazer's God Eater collab instead of posting proper updates.
>>1273127 B-But think of the poor multi-million companies! They need to earn money someway somehow!

I farted. It didn't smell good. Talk about getting a 1* from the gacha! I don't know what most of these gotcha games do, but penguins are pretty epic. Which goshdarn has the best penguins? Or is the best achoo but has penguins in it?
>>1513114 Are penquins horse, if yes then >>1504799
I just had a thought about gacha games, as someone who's only played 5 and stuck with 1 for long term before quitting. Are there any gacha games where a character dies permanently? I've heard of a few instances where it happens, but there's usually some sort of caveat. >Clone >Alternate universes >What-if version >Version of them in the past or at least before they died >It's not actually them somehow Or some other nonsense. I'm looking for an instance where there's a playable character just dies in story and they stay dead. No alternate versions, no more appearances in the story other than flashbacks or something, they're dead and treated as dead with no coming back. Obviously if they have a playable unit, the player won't get their playable character taken away, but for all intents and purposes, the devs are just done with the character. Because this thought I have of a permanently dead character seems so antithetical to pretty much every gacha game I've ever tried of "make every type of character ever to that will appeal to enough people to catch whales and make money".
>>1655056 Outside of some very forgettable NPCs (mainly dudes) you won't ever see permanent deaths in gachashit. Even homicidal, genocidal, planet bombing, timeline erasing supervillains will eventually become playable, probably in a FOMO limited banner. Why? Solely because they are hot and will sell like hotcakes.
>>1658236 >Solely because they are hot and will sell like hotcakes. Also because they said sorry, and cried a bit.
>>1655056 You can't sell the gacha character if they're dead. The chinks are pussies like that

>>1655056 The Madoka Magica gacha got very close with Kuro, then her popularity caused her to have a version created for the anime adaptation which cycled back into the gacha and basically disqualified the permadeath. There are also a bunch of backstory characters like Mel and Kanae who are permanently dead in the narrative, but their events pull some ghost nonsense to justify their presence in the story even if they fade away afterwards, which falls under "it's not actually them somehow." I would say Counter:Side has a few characters who die and don't come back, like Ray. But even then, the reason why permadeath is so rare in gacha is the same reason comic book characters always die and come back to life, because it reduces the chances of monetizing them.
YOU WANT TO KNOW FUCKING WHY EVERY SINGLE FUCKING GAME YOU DOWNLOAD ON A PHONE NEEDS TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET?!? Because of fucking Goolag: https://archive.ph/O06l8 <Google Play requires that the compressed APK that users download be no more than 100MB.
>>1034975 If every gachafag retard comitted suicide the world would be a better place. Thanks for listening to my TED Talk.

>Japanese gamers’ average gacha spending per user high enough to offset mobile market shrinkage, study shows https://archive.ph/P05jh <According to the report (which analyzes data from the App Store and Play Store), Japan’s mobile market saw annual downloads (new user acquisition) reach 628 million in the past year, which is a downward trend from 2020. On the other hand, revenue from in-app purchases remained strong, surpassing $11 billion (second only to China at $11.5 billion). <Sensor Tower says that Japan has an “exceptionally high” average revenue per user (ARPU), which means Japanese players are willing to spend a significant amount of money of gacha and other microtransactions. What’s interesting is that more than 80% of downloads of Japanese mobile games actually come from overseas, but nearly 70% of revenue still comes from Japanese players. <... <“Despite a slightly shrinking market, ARPU continues to achieve significant profitability, supported by an enthusiastic player base and efficient monetization strategies,” Sensor Tower notes. According to the report, gacha RPGs seem to be the best at attracting high-spending core players.
>>1761941 >China's gacha market is only half a billion dollars bigger than Japan's That's genuinely shocking.
>>1762015 chinese are still poorer than the japanese, there are 10x more of them so its quite funny that its nearly equal
>>1762023 >still poorer than the Japanese Being poor doesn't affect luxury spending among the retarded. Niggers will buy expensive clothes, shoes, PS5's and the newest phones on their welfare checks (when they aren't stealing them)
>>1762027 The niggers you're thinking of are first world poor. There are millions of chinese that literally still live in caves, not to mention the others that live in mud huts and the like. You see a few big cities on the news, but not only are the countrysides very different, but the ghettos on the ground make Brazil look civilized.
