Gachashit Ghetto - Mobage Galore Anonymous 11/04/2024 (Mon) 06:31:56 Id: 40b83d No. 1034975
Aka be glad (((Tel Aviv))) only knows how to make Raid: Shadow Legends edition. Given how many anons here play these titles and request an area to discuss them beyond Blue Archive >>1034800, given how many JP devs have fled to mobile as some of their more senile contemporaries chase the dead ESG gold rush, given how the bishoujo market is concentrated in mobage, and given how many players have actually banded together and organized to repel and BTFO globohomo as of late, I think a mini >>>/vmg/ is warranted. As OP I however get to christen it a "ghetto" until somebody else takes over the succeeding OPs. Do note that all discussion related to the technological and industry dynamic shifts these live services (yes they are live services) propose as well as topics directly pertaining to their cross-platform nature (i.e talking about how Aether Gazer is available on both PC and mobile or the number of gacha games on Steam) should be directed to this thread instead >>986877 If you want to discuss, say, how Lies of P and Brown Dust 2 were both developed by Neowiz, or how neato Versus and Relink are as part of Cygames' Granblue Fantasy IP, do it over there. You can talk about Action Taimanin's 4th anniversary, you can't talk about how well it runs on PC here. Non-gacha MMOs should also be directed to the existing MMO thread >>897003 Post memes, post updates to your chosen main gacha, post liveblogs of your playthroughs, post artdumps, post collabs, post obscure JP and about-to-EOS gachas, post about how the fuck match-three RPGs are still on the market, post about Senran Kagura New Link and Dead or Alive: Penis Vacation, complain about drama and monetization and mixed toilet games and girls trying to push their otome bishie gachas, just make your contributions high effort and high quality and try to max out 8chan's 5-file 50MB upload limit. You are allowed to be horny about certain characters, but your posts about them must be substantive (no >>>/vb/ template posting, for example). <geez, are you smug's owner No, I care about digital hygiene and board nettiquette. NEWS AT A GLANCE Going to try to hash out a format since this is very new for 8/v/. >GFL2, the successor to many anons' favorite gacha circa 2017, is set to come to Global this fall with a closed beta test and prereg being held. (Read: they need that gweilo piggu money.) Luckily, they are cranking up that fanservice, of which I won't post yet because this OP needs to cover multiple titles. >Unluckily, the CN state censor department has randomly struck a bunch of gachas with notices to sharpie over their character designs, the most notable of which was Snowbreak, enrager of BPD harpies everywhere, and Path to Nowhere. For the time being, Snowbreak has elected to use the localization toggle as a way to technically comply with said censor wave while still giving its playerbase what it wants; its future is still uncertain though as the devs continue to give Winnie the Pooh the finger. It seems like more and more that CN devs need to move off West Taiwan's mainland if they are to realize their creative and financial ambitions. >In general, the global economic downturn has meant that the gacha market has slowly been contracting on mobile. PC, however, seems to be booming as devs find that players are willing to open their wallets without having to pay Apple and Gulag the provider tax. >Arknights and Nikke are holding their 5.5 and 2nd anniversaries respectively, with both of them making big stinks about how they have new anime projects in the pipeline, never mind how all people remember from Blue Archive airing is Iori's toes getting sucked. >Azur Promilia has started receiving age ratings in Taiwan. >Mihomo has rebranded its Harvest Moon knockoff project from Asteweave Heaven to Petit Planet. >Uma Musume is gearing up for a global release. When? Not clear. This is for umaanon though. >Infinity Nikki is making waves as a big open world gacha that Soyny is banking on to get some crumbs after chasing off every Asian third party in existence. >Persona X, the one with the hag, has been spotted on Steam's database as coming to Global on PC. >Atelier Resleriana seems to want to apologize for Koei Tecmo's egregious globohomo censorship by parading the cast out for the obligatory summer event with bikini and swimsuit costumes. Unfortunately, it doesn't undo the fact that policore safety shorts are being slapped everywhere faster than pedophiles can slap children's asses. >Tribe Nine is a thing. Came and went on Steam Next Fest. >Dead or Alive: Penis Vacation is pushing out Prism onto consoles, but the original gacha still exists in its glory. >I'm going to go out on a limb and start editorializing, because Netease has the unenviable task of trying to sell Destiny Rising to the gacha demographic and it is hilarious. Yes, I'm sure pronouns are going to help it compete with big titty anime girls. --- ///I would put resources to combat gaming and gambling addiction here...if I HAD ANY\\\ Play responsibly and don't pay any money, how about that. Should be the norm but we have an awful lot of newfags here on the younger side who have yet to benefit from elders' experience.

I'm primarily into Uma Musume Pretty Derby amongst Japanese mobile games. Also tried Blue Archive and Metal Storm (in beta, a Front Mission-like game with better animations than the Squeenix remakes) but the horse girls managed to get me hooked up. When you get a shiny new character, you can’t immediately go and use her to race in PvP, Daily Races and other challenges. You first have to go through a training with her - a game mode where you'll raise the girl's stats, fight against a tide of RNG in random events, and try to succeed in races against other horse girls to win the training scenario. It's more or less a raising sim rogue-lite. Every time you complete a training, the character’s "version" at the end of the training is saved, with all the stats and skills you gained during the run. After that, you can use that particular version in other modes. Or, if you're not satisfied with how the run went, try again. >Production values completely go through the roof: very nice 3D models (with zero hair clipping), over +100 voice actors, overall good soundtrack, the visual novel parts are actually 3D animated (and make you wish the rest of the genre was like this), concert lives give you the possibility to swap any character you have >Charming and endearing characters. I obviously have several favorites (Mister CB, Mejiro Ramone, Marzensky, Gentildonna, Agnes Tachyon, Dream Journey, Tamamo Cross, etc) but I don't think I dislike anyone despite the cast has reached a number of 100 playable girls. >There is also an UFO catcher minigame that you can play anytime, not just during the training scenario mode. >Probably the sole gacha franchise that has actual good anime adaptations - I liked To the Top! OVA and I heard good things about the recent movie (which was apparently a success amongst girls in Japan) >The doujin scene may be lacking in R18+ content (as Cygames asked fans to be mindful in posting stuff on the Internet, to not upset certain owners of the IRL horses licenses) but is quite high-quality <Definitively not a F2P-friendly game. The game expects you to spend at least 800 yen (5€) a month for the Premium Pass (which grants a lot more item rewards upon generating score points) and some banners can be only used with a premium rainbow carrot currency (1500 premium carrots aka 2000 yen - these banners at least automatically grant a 3* character or SSR card in one try) <The characters aren't the sole things you have to unlock through gacha, there are also support cards being a crucial part of the gameplay to make the horsegirls stronger in the scenario mode.
Can I make a separate thread for Fate / FGO stuff? Are there any FGO players left here? Mollusk?
Didnt Final Fantasy Brave Exvius and that Harry Potter Magic Awekend gacha game shut down last month? (at least on the west, cause their Asian servers still operate)
NIKKE 2nd Anni event still going, two banners of the Pilgrim class Nikkes (the most broken ones) will be up, a free selectable Pilgrim wealthfare Nikke and over 100 pulls* are still possible to obtain for newcuties. >The good: <Good-ish setting & lore. <Mini events featuring a new Nikke almost every two weeks. <10 normal & 10 special pulls are pretty much guaranteed for completing said events. <A lot of login bonus events that give you 10 normal pulls. <Archive function that lets you play past events, but without the rewards. <Pretty chill once you get the hang of it and doesn't demand too much time. <Sometimes the devs hand out pulls/gems via the in-game mail whenever the game is doing good in the AppStore/PlayStore. <F2P friendly-ish if you are patient and save up for Pilgrims. <Supports Windows 7. >The bad: <There is an artificial level cap commonly known as the 160 wall which prevents you from passing the level 160 unless you have 5 SRR Nikkes with 3 dupes each. <Very meta focused. <Lots of load screens. <The mold system only has a 61% chance to get you an SSR. <The story is powergated, 465K is needed to clean the current final campaign mission, but 400-420K is doable with the right Nikkes. <Pilgrim class Nikkes have a 1/100 chance to get during a rate up banner, otherwise they are 0.5/100 in the permanent banner, but they are random. <PVP is whale territory. <The game needs ACE anti-cheat to run and emulator use is officially banned since last year. <Shift-UP recently became a public company and Tencent is the second biggest shareholder.
>>1034975 Made a new account for Azur lane after not touching it for 4+ years. Aside from multiple URs boats being in the "pity" and pirate age boats being a thing not much has changed, but the Siren mode in kinda nice. since it doesn't cost fuel to do.
>used to play Metal Slug Attack for years until it closed down >swap to Battle Cats since it was similar >Battle Cats now has a crossover event with the dead Metal Slug Attack game That seems strange to me. I appreciate the MS units, but seeing MSA makes me miss it slightly. Even if the balance was completely fucked at many different times. >Given how many anons here play these titles I only play these when I need a time waster and I'm stuck with only a phone. Even then I'm not proud of it. At least I haven't paid any of these a dime. Given the prices for this shit, I never got how anyone justified spending so much for so little.
To the games that don't have a direct APK download, is it a requirement that all micro transactions google gets a cut from?

The new training scenario in Uma Musume Pretty Derby makes it really easy to make strong horse girls, even if the exclusive bonuses are tailored for Mid-distance and Long-distance races (whereas the garden scenario was for Short-Distance and Mile). The RNG can occasionally screw a run but it's mostly the under-leveled cards in my deck that kneecap the (still decent) results. Also I forgot that the official Uma Musume channel in Youtube has the Road to the Top! OVA episodes available to watch, with the English subs to boot. https://youtu.be/pjPXzJedwiA https://youtu.be/0jev2Uv37F8 https://youtu.be/A42wNP1DJho https://youtu.be/RIDl7x_gFGE So that anons get a better idea of the Uma universe and some of its characters, even enjoy a bit without touching the gacha game.
>>1035389 Both Battle Cats and Metal Slug Attack have a Switch port as offline titles. And in case of Battle Cats, there are extra mini-games and a 2-players mode, plus the ability to retain your gacha currency (by immediately rebooting the game) if what you generated from a banner doesn't please you. I also recall a few of defunct Japanese mobile games were later given Switch ports, which is a good thing in the end rather than being permanently lost in the publisher's servers.

>>1035297 I played Nikke for around 4 months, between Tuye and Elegg events. It's your usual gachashit that lures you in with borderline porn and lots of newcomer gifts, but it quickly (a lot quicker than other games) stops the support and leaves you on your own. If you couldn't pull a top meta unit with the resources you got, tough chance. Start a fresh account because you're fucked. Or pay up like the good little goy you are. The 160 wall is there solely to break your will and purchase premium shit. I was lucky with my molds so i broke it fairly easily, but i wouldn't be surprised to hear people getting stuck in there for years. The gameplay is repetitive as fuck too, you fight the same bosses at least 50 times a week. I went back to Arknights after the fun stopped. On an unrelated note, Whislash alone beats every Nikke girl in terms of beauty, cuteness and sexiness.
>>1036569 what's up with gacha games and putting inverted crosses on random characters?

>>1037293 .be a good goy & pay >Make new accounts Or you know, just uninstall & go look at the art of the girls you like or better yet play a better game?
>>1037338 Thanks for repeating what i just wrote. Appreciate your help.
>>1037353 You're welcome. Now drink your prune juice.

Snowbreak can't catch a break The devs have finished streaming an emergency broadcast after the game's most recent update caused a shitstorm right after Amazing Seasun had to comply with a second censorship wave from the CCP censors, meaning the story had to be revoked while it gets reworked. >1989 Tianemein Square massacre reference >massive OOC writing to "own le chuds" >gratuitous scene depicting child murder >"01" references, this calls back to when Snowbreak initially took after Genshit pandering and had a male operative character who would flirt with the female cast, and has since been coopted by feminists hating on the game as an analogue to the South Korean pinching gesture like the Amerilars women copying the 4B movement >>>/hellkorea/ >the devs were busy dealing with the fallout of the recent censorship wave and had no time to double-check the release >the writing and review staff have been fired (they were recent hires who had written a well-received side story before trying to tank the game) and the devs claim they will have a more rigorous process to vet updates and new staff in the future I have to be honest, Snowbreak: Containment Zone was a huge component for why I started this thread and >>986877 with not only how it improved technologically cross-platform but also how it's become a huge crux in the culture war with players fighting back for what they want and getting it to the point I was mentioning it in >>>/ggarchive/. If you've wondered why fanservice games haven't been coming out in recent years and why Senran is stuck in collab and mobage purgatory, this is why; when you do you're attacked by harpies who try to infiltrate and ruin you. As a side note Japan keeps having shit taste; buying the pozzed DQIII remake, really? And COD and Apex? >>1037293 I played at launch and it was WAY worse, to the point I barely play it and only stick around for the big events where the devs shower you with gifts. It's gotten better but it still lags behind many other games and is massively overrated, from ripping off Blue Archive multiple times to taking too long for dailies because no auto or sweeps are implemented for most prereqs. >>1037280 I would have to say that discussion of offline ports of gacha games should be relegated to >>986877 but it's my bad for not being clear on that in the OP so just a finger wag for now.
>>1037401 >from ripping off Blue Archive multiple times I quit playing NIKKE after one hour after launch, because it wasn't my cup of tea, so I am a bit curios what did they steal from Blue Archive? Are you referring to the story or gatcha functionality?

Some multiplayer modes are coming to Arknights today. I miss the days back when gacha shit was so reviled for being the garbage that it is that gacha threads were simply deleted or immediately locked. And idiots trying to defend gacha were relentless shat on and terrified to even post about the subject. We've come a long way, and I don't like what I see 'round these parts.
>>1039644 That was like what? Six years ago, maybe even more, as we had Granblue threads for a long time.
>>1039647 He's just projecting or something, because Granblue threads have been up since Granblue Fantasy began, which was like 2014 or 2015. Delusional.
>>1039648 I decided to look through the wayback machine, and as far as I can see the oldest GBF thread was made on the 30th of October 2016, so two years after it's release, but it also means we had gacha threads for most of 8chan's history, at least on the /v/ board, as there might have been an older /gacha/ or /gbf/ board that I am unaware of. https://web.archive.org/web/20161031204313/http://8ch.net/v/res/11111952.html I simply searched the /v/ catalog using wayback machine, until I found the first occurrence of it. https://web.archive.org/web/20160701000000*/http://8ch.net/v/catalog.html Have fun going on nostalgia lane
>>1039647 >>1039648 >>1039650 Oh that was back in the 4chan days. So even longer than that. I find it sad that gacha has become normalized within the gaming sphere, especially given the fact that most of the genre preys on younger men.
>>1039665 >I find it sad that gacha has become normalized within the gaming sphere, especially given the fact that most of the genre preys on younger men. Fair enough, even though I engage with mobage, I never recommend it to other people, nor do I spend money on it. >So even longer than that I am not saying there wasn't a period of time on 4chan when such threads got deleted, but how long was that phase? We would have to discard the years when gatcha didn't really exist, and for that we would have to determine the first mobage, which is a bit hard. Do we consider Yu-Ghi-Oh gacha, and by extension a lot of video games gacha, or does it get a pass because you own the cards? If not, then it has to be a bit more than just "game has lootbox, ergo it's gacha". Googling for the history of gacha, I got this article https://archive.ph/9kpED that claims Dragon Collection was the first mobile gacha, but it was Japan exclusive, and I doubt most /v/irgins even knew about it, maybe some /jp/ autists. Rage of Bahamut(precursor to Granblue) got English language support in 2012, so that means we had almost 4 years of no-gacha threads versus 8 years of gacha threads, and this is just me taking you on your word that there were no gacha threads on 4/v/ or 4/vg/ because I wasn't interested in those types of games, so I would overlook such threads. At this point in time, you are way too late to complain about such things in the gacha thread, it's almost like a Hillary supported going to a Trump rally in 2024 lamenting that Hillary lost and Trump won, get over it and ignore such threads. Oh, and if you want to say that Maple Story had gacha elements introduced in it before Dragon Collection, and that makes it the "first" online video game gacha, then were Mapple Story threads allowed on /v/ or /vg/ or were they banned? I wasn't much into that game, so again, I wouldn't know if there were threads or not, but I wouldn't be surprised if threads were allowed, despite it having gacha elements.
No one talking about Capcom announcing a monster hunter themed genshin clone gacha?
>>1039809 Because it’s boring
Genshin Impact just launched on the Xbox Series X/S. The X version is equal to the PS5 version running at 4K 60 FPS, while the S version runs at 1080p 60 FPS. The installation size is around 102 GB.
