It finally happened, GZDoom devs fork the engine to UZDoom over arguments with Graf. https://archive.ph/ADOAb Graf returned after a lengthy hiatus, and started pushing AI code to the master branch and breaking things in the process. After being told "dude stop" he got really catty and told the other contributors to fork the project if it bothered them. So they did. There were actually a bunch of forks made, another is DZDoom. I hate how the community only gets reported on when there's drama or a wad popular with normalfags

LLMs have been a fucking disaster for the human race. For every 1 programmer that realizes they waste more time fighting to get "good" output out of bullshit generators with no way to get consistently functional code output, than if they just wrote the code themselves, there's going to be several dozen retards who start using LLMs to generate garbage that breaks everything because they don't even know enough to understand the broken code it outputs

When talking about doom 3 do I post here or in another thread? I know this is for retro FPS but I dont want there to be a third doom thread. We already have 2 and doom 3 doesn't fit into any of them.

Does anyone know how I can edit the map button on the 3DS version of PrBoom+? The only way to use the map is by using the on-screen keyboard and then pressing 'tab' the way you would on a PC. Since the keyboard is extremely small, pressing 'tab' with your fingers is nearly impossible so you have to use your stylus 99% of the time. Even then, if you touch anything besides the center of the key, the press doesn't actually count. What's rather strange about PrBoom+ is that you can remap certain actions to the face buttons on the 3DS, but some settings only let you remap to the keyboard seemingly at random on top of not letting you map certain functions to the shoulder buttons. Somehow the game lets you use the face buttons to navigate menus but you cannot assign them to things like the map which is bizarre. Do I have to open a .config file and manually edit the controls myself? I'm tired of opening and closing the map taking >10 seconds every time I get lost.
>>1961935 Yeah, you should be able to edit the config file in /3ds/prboom3ds/prboom.cfg like any old text file, probably with a 3DS text editor, or putting the SD Card into your computer and editing it there.

Turok 1 and 2 have received Updates. The most significant added features being Turok 1 now allows you to turn off respawning enemies, and Turok 2 has Crossplay Multiplayer,with Splitscreen.

I played Boltgun and it reminded me mostly of Turok, because most of the time I spent jumping around for pickups. In fact, even if I didn't like the nuDoom arenas, 90% of the time was spent exploring anyway. For the life of me, I can't explain why there's so much ammo available in the game. And one has to admit there's something off with the difficulty curve, if things go from power fantasy in most exploration, to bashing your face against a wall in certain arenas. Admittedly, Necromunda Hired Gun had given me similar vibes: unremarkable combat, but great levels to explore.
