PC Hardware & News Thread: RAM up those prices Edition Anonymous 11/25/2025 (Tue) 17:07:03 Id: c8e16c No. 1964171
>Discuss PC Hardware & News >Share Specs & Pics Current News >AI Niggers have caused RAM prices to skyrocket and other memory is expected to also go up Last thread >>1418497
>>1988248 Everything isn't even getting fucked for something good either. Like if the trade off was some dystopian but legitimately impressive technology then maybe it could be understandable. But the AI novelty wore off within the first few months and it's literally done nothing but become a massive inconvenience to basically everything ever since. All information is poisoned and I've still yet to find a single instance where it's been useful to me.
>>1987708 >>1988247 If the AI bubble ever bursts, I wonder what kind of apocalyptic scenario that is going to look like. >>1988248 Thanks for reminding me I have the gondola version of that. I almost forgot where I put it. >Now EVERYONE must suffer That is the most annoying thing about this.
Remember, anons: the bigger it gets, the closer it is to burst.
>>1988219 It's supposed to feel that way, a natural healthy society wouldn't do this.
>>1988441 And nothing is too big too fail
>>1988473 i guess thats true
>>1988474 Understand the "too big to fail" rhetoric after 2008 did not mean "we're too big to even fail, bucko ;^)". It meant "these corporations are too big to be allowed to fail because it could collapse the economy", it was reasoning for bailouts. The English language is a fuck.
>>1988835 >collapse the economy maybe the fake one, getting rid of all those tax leech giants who produce nothing of value would be beneficial to nearly everyone
Is it time to start hoarding PC components and devices? >>1988835 Personally if it pops I hope there's all kinds of revolutions and civil wars in western countries and the current managerial class gets to hang from lampposts.
Copied from elsewhere: The Memory Mafia (Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron Technology) are behind this. In February of this year they were on the news saying they will reduce production, because there was oversupply and market prices were too low. So they created this scarcity to make prices go up. I hope they rot in hell. https://www.techspot.com/news/106815-nand-flash-weak-demand-oversupply.html
>>1988835 >because it could collapse the economy"
>>1988896 Not the first time it happens
>>1988896 We need to lobby Intel to make Optane DIMMs again. Any competition against those price-gouging motherfuckers will be a good deed.
(162.04 KB 504x467 hat kid tired.png)

>>1988896 I recall that memory manufacturers have been in legal trouble over price fixing before, but the fines are nothing compared to the profits so it keeps happening.
>>1988896 Isn’t that illegal?
(623.45 KB 640x360 neel brean.mp4)

>>1989195 All of this shit is a literal scam, yeah.
>>1988896 yeah, and them blaming ai is just convenient scapegoat
>>1989357 Both can be true, LLMbro.
>>1989195 High ranked people from these companies got short sentences because of prior collusion, at least 5 guys from each company involved
>>1989195 Nothing's illegal if you're rich.
>>1989195 Today's word of the day is "Chaebol"!
>>1988441 ...so if we want it to collapse we have to put more money into it? You're telling me to buy the Google AI now?
>>1988896 The one thing me and R*ddit can agree on: Luigi did nothing wrong (allegedly).
>>1990186 the cheaper alternative is sending altman to see his grandpa
>>1990186 He's saying lost objects are always found in the last place you look.
>>1988248 The VAs and Localisation niggers absolutely had it coming that's the one thing I'll grant AI.
What a boring world.
>>1989103 Every day that passes we understand more, this is just the memory cartel abusing it's position to increase prices again. SSD prices will skyrocket very soon because the same fabs also make those memory chips.
<NVIDIA restores 32-bit PhysX support for GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards >NVIDIA has reinstated 32-bit GPU-accelerated PhysX support for select legacy games on GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs with the latest 591.44 WHQL driver. This update restores full physics performance in popular titles like Borderlands 2 and Batman: Arkham City, addressing previous performance drops caused by CPU offloading >The first batch of nine games that will run at full speed again includes the following: Alice: Madness Returns, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Batman: Arkham City, Batman: Arkham Origins, Borderlands 2, Mafia II, Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light, and Mirror's Edge. >NVIDIA adds that support for Batman: Arkham Asylum will be available in early 2026
>>1993170 >forgot to post the archive My bad. https://archive.is/ay7cU
>>1993170 This decade will be the decade I finish Mirror's Edge then.
>>1993170 So they only restored it for a select few games?
>>1993745 You can reenable it through Nvidia Profile Inspector for every game I've been told, though just know that even with actual hardware some older games do not enjoy running PhysX on newer cards (Metro 2033 and ROTT in particular like to go full SPS if you're using anything newer than GTX 700s)
>>1993964 >having to manually enable it for every game I wouldn't even trade my graphics card for a 50 series lol

>>1993170 They shouldn't have ditched it to begin with since multiple big game titles use it! >Batman: Arkham Origins Reminder: Origins, while not best in the series, is an excellent game for the Christmas vibe around this season. The snow tessellation & steam physics were neat. Environments are comfy with Christmas decorations inside & out. >Alice: Madness Returns Best Girl: Physx Support Returns
