Krafton saves Tango Gameworks: Hi-Fi Rush 2 is back on the table. Anonymous 08/12/2024 (Mon) 00:50:13 Id: 224a97 No. 1000517
Krafton has announced the acquisition of Tango Gameworks, a Japanese game development studio that was closed in June 2024. With the cooperation of Microsoft and ZeniMax Media, Krafton will now take over Tango Gameworks' business, re-establish the company, and retain its development staff. Krafton has also acquired the IP for "Hi-Fi RUSH" and plans to expand the franchise and work on new projects. Microsoft confirmed that existing Tango Gameworks titles will remain unaffected. I stole this from ChatGPT, but basically Korea is saving Tango Gameworks from Phil Spencer not knowing how to do his job. For those not in the know, Krafton is the same publisher that put out PUGB and a few mobile focused games. This is either really good news or really shitty news depending on how they approach the situation. That being said, I doubt they would spend any sort of money if they didn't plan to approach the console space. source: https://krafton.com/en/news/press/krafton-strengthens-global-presence-through-strategic-integration-of-tango-gameworks-and-hi-fi-rush-ip/

>>1000519 Well fugg my doot. At least the character designs won't be super ugly in the next game.
>>1000517 Lead dev just confirmed it, tango is saved.
>>1000525 archive on twitter also works again https://archive.ph/MxAFs
>>1000517 > Krafton They fucked Glen Schofield royally.
>>1000527 How so?
>>1000523 The Irish girl has a good design.
>>1000532 Rushed the shit of out Calisto Protocol.
>Tango Gameworks from Phil Spencer not knowing how to do his job. It's almost like launching games on a subscription service first is great at inflating player count and nothing else and is in fact extremely detrimental to sales and player retention.

>struggling for games >studio makes successful and liked games >shut them down >they get saved by a third-party >you have now actively thrown talent to another company at your own detriment How does he do it?
>>1000523 >>1000519 that's better than bethesda but surprised why not a japanese publisher? Was hifi rush not successful in japan >>1000537 she's scottish you pleb

>>1000582 >but surprised why not a japanese publisher? From what I'm seeing, the Japanese game industry is currently on suicide watch. Sony axed all of their studies, Capcom/Bamco/ASW/Marvelous are going all-in on baizuo appeal, Sega is already balls deep in it, SE cannot make a successful game if their life depended on it, KT is only kept alive thanks to DoA(X) DLC, Kadokawa just suffered a major company-wide hack, and Nintendo is slowly being corrupted by non-Japanese interests. The ONLY companies currently making money are Konami and Taito, and the latter is rendered mute because they're a division of SE. There is also Sunsoft, City Connection, and GungHo, but no one really considers them "important". And Falcom and NIS actively hate their customers, but are also smart enough to NOT bite the hand that feeds them.

>>1000582 >>Was hifi rush not successful in japan <Faux anime that copied every shitty anime cliché just to appeal the r/etarded hipster kind But hey the mystery meat cripple having feelings over the only normal looking woman was subtle, not forced.
>>1000705 Idunno, Cygames is turning a profit of sorts outside of Gachashit and is setting foot in proper gamedev with GBF Relink being a decent success and profitable according to metrics they released (despite the troubled dev time) and that Horsegirl partygame is projected to sell well enough. Square also has at least one good sub-team in the form of Team Asano who regularly profits off their games. The problem with Team Asano is if Square gave them actual money to make a big-budget thing they'd obviously do the Square thing of putting super heavy oversight on them and enforce a bunch of top-down crap and probably ruin what that small team has going for themselves. I think all they really need is some more advertising budget and their games could easily draw in a ton more profit. As for Hi-Fi Rush itself, did they remove denuvo from it yet? I had interest in buying it but wasn't going to spend anything until they remove that piece of crap bloatware from it.
>>1000799 >Cygames <Gachishit >Team Asano <Games are either censored or pushing political activism
Can gambling laws be used against gachashit?

>>1000705 >Japanese game industry is currently on suicide watch Japanese games are doing very well shit like Elden Meme outsold COD, other Japanese games are doing very well with outselling Western games. Did you pick some cherry picked examples and decide that represented it all?

>Krafton has also acquired the IP for "Hi-Fi RUSH" >no mention of The Evil Within hold me bros... i'm fainting
>>1000847 Evil Within is still owned by Phil. Sorry anon
>>1000841 Don't respond to him, he's clearly just baiting based on completely misreading what I said about Cygames and accusing Team Asano of agenda pushing. >>1000847 Yeah, guess that series is dead, sadly. The studio didn't own the full rights to the series IIRC and it wasn't bought in the acquisition. Shame too, games were real neat. Guess you could hope for a spiritual successor.
>>1000835 Didn't that already happen? Now every gacha game has to list the drop rates, and they can't give you a bonus for collecting a complete set of paid gacha drops, or something like that.
>>1000537 Too bad she's the only one outside the MC and the cat.
>>1000853 >accusing Team Asano of agenda pushing. < Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake confusingly removes gender from protagonist, subclasses https://archive.ph/Wl0bX And, yes, this is on Team Asano: https://archive.ph/oMOik
>>1001003 >last bastion of creative expression Go read a book lol
>>1001004 You definitely missed out on the Hugo awards bullshit.

>>1001003 >Blackstone Here we go again.
>>1001010 It's so funny they removed Chinese women - Xiran Zhao and Lingxiu Kuang I believe - from the ticket because they were critical of the government. Not only female "POC", but one was th esmall Chinese Hui minority at that. There's no way you could spin that as woke, so they didn't publicly announce it, opting to do it under the table. Bravo. That practically destroyed their reputation from people across the political spectrum.
